The beauty of computer science and computer engineering lies in the fact that even with the ever increasing number of notions and innovations in the field, there do exist lots of rooms for improvement and development and the current can’t and won’t stop. This caught my eyes as a teenager and helped me to realize the future and career that I would like to seek. A time when I first wanted to make a change and advance towards improving my abilities and expanding my limits, was when I was preparing for the entrance examinations of National Organization for Development of Exceptional Talents of Iran for both my junior high and high school. These schools were de facto the best schools all around the country, so you might speculate the level of competition in these schools and the sheer amount of exacting work required to finish in the top 10% of the students. During this time, I really enjoyed working and studying linux and programming on my computer and I can’t forget the very fist moment that a simple game I made started to work correctly. Watching and following the latest news and trends on the area of Embedded Systems and Security, I knew that these would be the paramount focus of the present century, when the most difficult and complex calculations and schedule arrangements can be done with a single piece of metal on our wrists, a tiny part of hardware with many wires can control a whole building’s temperature and lightings. The security and invulnerability of these
Prior to this, growing up in Kathmandu, Nepal, my childhood consisted of me daydreaming of becoming the one and only computer scientist. I was just another young, eager child to meet life’s challenges. Taking these daring challenges led my journey to University of Massachusetts Lowell to pursue a degree towards computer science leading me closer
From iPhones to Lamborghinis to the orion spacecraft; all of them required computer engineers. Computer engineering is the bridge between computer science and electrical engineering, it is where the heart of most modern technology is created and developed. With the emergence of personal computing and the every day growing demand for more in our technology, computer engineers rise to the challenge. “Computer hardware engineers research, design, develop, and test computer systems and components such as processors, circuit boards, memory devices, networks, and routers. By creating new directions in computer hardware, these engineers create rapid advances in computer technology” (“Computer Hardware Engineers”). Although very demanding path in college and stressful at times, the advantages and outlook of computer engineering far outweigh the toils of many years of rigorous study, and is going to be one of the most prominent disciplines of engineering in the future.
Berry (2013) stated that background in basic science, mathematics and the humanities should include in the curriculum of computer engineering. In the program, written and oral communication skills should be nurtured and improved. Also, team coordination in creating projects and an account of morally upright and professional responsibilities of an engineer should be counted in any related computer engineering program.
Every human has a purpose and every purpose has an ordained path and beginning. My interest in computer science came to light as soon as I began to walk, talk and think independently. I always had the innate passion and desire to scrutinize electronic devices even though I was still a child with little understanding. Being a little kid, my access to computers were constrained, but nonetheless, I made the best out of every opportunity I had with them. Time flew by like a dove as I suddenly began to grow in wisdom, and also began to understand what life is all about. Immediately I graduated from high school, I applied for a 3-month full-time computer training before making any preparation for college. Unbeknownst to me, I was actually on a direct path to discovering my true potential in computer science and engineering. Financially and physically, it was a burden commuting from my home down to the computer training center, but the intrinsic passion and desire to get my hands on electronic devices and to learn more about how computers really work made me overlook the struggle. I did not think twice while applying for Computer Engineering in the university, as I already had a clear glimpse of my future
My interest in Computer Science started when I joined in Robotics Team during my Sophomore year of high school. As a new member, I presumed a semester of Honors Computer Science would prepare me to contribute to the team. My initial excitement was short-lived, however, as I trudged through program after program - completing well over thirty by the end of the first semester. I sensed something was missing; I didn’t feel completely fulfilled.
Throughout my educational journey, I constantly hone my knowledge in computer science. There is not a day where I did not polish my skills.
Computer sciences are so essential to humans that they have become part of us, impacting every aspect of our lives. Every day we see how society depends on computers to perform daily tasks, binding each one of us to possess a strong foundation in computer sciences in order to match the pace of this civilization. On the other hand, due to the new advances in technology, there is no need for social interactions between humans, shaping completely our relationships and social behaviors, making us somehow less appreciative of the human touch.
I always enjoyed school, but in my adult years, I have come to recognize that I feel great excitement when placed in new situations where I can gain new knowledge – on any topic. I searched for a path that allowed me to always feel there was something new to learn, and with technology being an industry that is ever-changing and adapting to the world, I knew it wouldn’t disappoint me. There is an abundance of areas within technology that are brand new or not yet developed, so there are infinite possibilities to expand my knowledge and be the person who is actually creating the exciting technology I used to read about. In computer programming, there are countless languages to learn and infinite ways to create more efficient and effective code. I strive under pressure and this industry will give innumerable occasions to adapt and change with the living forces that are technology and
For my presentation I will be proposing the benefits of choosing a career as a
“All you need in this life is ignorance and confidence; then success is sure.”- Mark Twain. The career of a computer engineer is fast paced and full of creativity, this will allow you to meet and work with different people with different ideas but the same drive as you do in your career. You also have the chance to create new technology with your own two hands, and be one of the leaders of new technological discoveries. Your creations could possibly develop into companies like Apple or Google or even build something the world depends on. It just depends on your hard work, creativity, and your quickness to react to something and adapt to fit the changes. What can I say i like computers, and the owner of Google was already taken.
desk, weighed 750 pounds, and featured rotating drums for memory, glowing vacuum tubes, and a read/write system that recorded numbers by scorching marks on cards (“History of Computing”).
Computers and technology seem to fascinate many people, so it should come as no surprise that there are many occupations that involve computers and technology. Computers are everywhere, even in places that most do not think. Most people who are asked how many computers they have in their house would give an incorrect answer. Many just state how many actual computers they have, not realizing that computers are in a lot of devices in their home. There are hundreds, maybe even thousands of computers in the average house. From a microwave to a clock to an actual computer, there are many computers in which people possess in their homes. Computers are becoming the way of the future, so it is very important
Definition of Wireless LAN is Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN). WLAN is a wireless computer network that connect two or more devices by using a wireless distribution method within a limited area such as home, room, school, computer laboratory, library or office building. Besides, WLAN gives users the ability to move around within local coverage area and yet still be connected to the network. Most modern WLAN’s based on IEEE 802.119 (extended protocols for WLAN), marketed under the name of Wi-Fi.
What is the first thing you do when you wake up in the morning? Probably grabbing your cell phone to scroll down the screen to look at those social media apps? This is how science slowly taking over our lives without us even knowing it. If you start to pay close attention, examples are everywhere; from we replacing the noisy old school alarms with cell phone alarms that we can customize any music to it, to letting computer almost running the entire company. The changes that computer science has brought to us are in creditably beneficial, crucial, and tremendous.
I earned my undergraduate degree in computer science from Gadjah Mada University, one of the best universities in Indonesia. I knew all along that communication, networking and leadership skills would very important in work and daily life. That was why since the first year in the university, I had been very active in student associations and campus activities. Through these extra-curricular activities, I was improving those skills. One moment that I will never forget is when I was entrusted as Chairman of Computer Exhibition in my campus. The exhibition was very successful and made record for the highest number of exhibition participants, visitors and transaction volume. With my hardest efforts, splitting time between extra-curricular activities and study, I successfully finished the undergraduate program with the status “very satisfactory” in 2000.
