Vacations with the whole family can be a blast! But year-round school can take that away. Although year-round school can help students stay focused on what they are learning in school it is destroying the time that kids spend on sports and vacations with their family.
To begin with, kids need fresh air; they need to be outside playing with their friends they don’t need to be stuck in a classroom for six weeks. Not being able to get exercise is not a good thing for kids they need to be outside exercising not stuck in a classroom. In Source one paragraph four it says “ If students are in school year-round it make it difficult from them to have a summer job and a sports team's’ schedules.” Kids need to be outside but thanks to year-round it
Year round schooling is better than regular school because, it allows the kids to retain more information and not lose what they learned, they also allow them to graduate earlier with higher retention levels. In discussion of Year Round Schooling, one controversial issue has been whether year round schooling is a good idea or not. People believe that year round schooling is a good thing and that it will increase academic achievement levels and benefit the students more than anything else. Students will also be able to advance more quickly since the schooling is year round, they have less to forget since the breaks are shorter. On the other hand people seem to believe that year round schooling takes away from the students and gives them less family time and less of an “Outside of school life” (NEA). In the research of year round schooling it shows that absences are most likely to be higher since it is year round. Their view is that we think that many students can benefit from year round schooling, and that is has more benefits than anything else.
In conclusion, year-round school is an awful idea because students actually look at summer break as a break, parents have plenty of stress on them already, and some schools already have financial trouble. Rarely anyone thinks that year-round school is a good idea, so it would be easier for everyone if the idea was just gone for good. Going to school year-round would be stressful for everyone involved, and everyone involved already has enough stress on them as it is. School, as it is now, works just fine and doesn’t need to
Year round schooling may sound scary but read this and I might change your mind. Year round school is pretty much what is sounds like, except it is the same amount of school days as a regular year, and it has more spread out breaks. Year round school would be beneficial because it consist of less review due to “summer slide”, more “family time”, and longer more spread out breaks.
In conclusion, year-round schooling is beneficial to students because it prevents extra weight gain and stress. Some may say that year-round schooling doesn’t have a positive effect on students, but extra weight gain, at a young age, and stress can cause health and focusing issues . Year-round schools can decrease the chances of these problems happening is adolescents, and increase the positive outcome of being healthy. So, when considering the benefits of year-round schooling, think about how they can improve student health and stress
Should kids have a summer break or have year round schooling? I think that that students should have summer break because of the complications it brings with having a year-round schooling.
Year round school helps with the complications of childcare issues. Parents won 't have to worry about paying for their child to go to a daycare or a summer camp. Child care can be very expenses and the child might even be upset about going to daycare everyday of the summer. Another child care issue is that if families have older children they could get stuck with watching their younger siblings. Then most of teenagers summer are spent watching their younger siblings when they could be enjoy their summer the way they want.
The third reason why we shouldn’t have all year round –schools is because, its tradition to have 180 day’s strait with 3 months of breaks and it gives us more important things to do in the summer. According to Julia Sines, to have a 3-month summer and do more fun activities to do all summer is better than going to school year round. Kids want to go on vacations with their parents. Some athletic kids won’t be able to play travel sports. Scientist say that year round school kids drop out by their senior year (Sines). Most juniors and seniors work in the summer for money for colleges and to save up, but they won’t be able to get money. It’s more American to have 180 straight days with 3-month break. Billee Bussard stated, “It is an idea that has been tried and failed for more than 100 years,” (Sines). So talking to that quote, why would we start now. Kids love going outside and swimming and playing games and making money, but because the kids go to year round schools they only have 3 weeks to do these fun
Secondly, most people like to play sports or go to camps. One of my friends has done year round schooling was late to soccer and saying it was because of the year-round school. Due to year-round schooling, some kids won't be able to participate in summer sports or
Barack Obama stated, "The challenges of the new century demand more time in the classroom." A three month vacation from school may seam ideal, but in reality it is detrimental to a child's education. Year round schooling is very beneficial not only because it offers educational benefits, but family benefits as well.
For many years, girls and boys would go to a year round school, and have breaks certain times of the year to help out at home or on the farm. Now days, only four percent of schools are year round. There are not many things that children have to go home for during the winter or summer anymore. Therefore, it is not a necessity to have summers off. However, having more year round schools, will create and easier life for students.
It has been brought to the local school board's attention the possibilities of year-round schooling. It has been mentioned to the education system that a long summer break causes students to lose valuable information from the prior year. As the program was looked more thoroughly into it was discovered to be more costly than the traditional ten-month program, for reasons such as teachers pay and providing lunches for the students. By examine the pros and cons of the year-long schooling system I believe it would be more beneficial for the local schools education.
Year-round school is not a good idea. For one, the cost of essential items in school will rise. For parents, it gives them less time for “family time” since their children are too busy doing homework. Also, the student’s homework creates stress and they can’t do the outside activities they desire. Without year-round schools, it would benefit the school, the parents, and the students.
The traditional American school year was constructed around a nine-month schedule requiring 180 days in the classroom. But times are changing and many people are suggesting that the school system in America does away with this “outdated” system and move into this new idea of the “year round education”. There are theories that knowledge is lost when kids go on summer break and others think that financially summer breaks are in fact needed. What needs to be explored further is what affect does year round school have economically, whether year round schooling aid’s or hinders children’s educational knowledge, and how would this new schooling affect children socially.
Imagine it is the very end of the school year. The sun is shining brightly and heat courses down on the heads of eager students of Forest Park. Summer vacation is here! Right? A break from the tests, homework, and hard work is finally deserved, right? Maybe not.
Year-round school Pros outweigh the problems, for example, Year round schooling is good because it can help stem summer learning loss. This is because of the way the schedule is arranged they spread the summer break out into smaller breaks in theory declining the summer learning loss effect. The summer learning loss effect in itself is a big problem because there is time wasted reviewing material that all students should already know. It also prevents student teacher burnout by implementing breaks that are shorter but occur more often. Year round school can also enrich a student's’ educational experiences by allowing for the addition of intersessions or creative courses during breaks. A year-round school also allows more access to health care
