CO2 Emissions have steadily increased since the industrial revolution. The world is now producing too much CO2 and the planet cannot clean up after us humans. This leads to heat from the sun getting trapped into our atmosphere, producing heat and pollution, known as Global Warming. Everyday activities from humans are damaging the environment. Having both Natural Sources and Human Sources of CO2 it becomes a very hard problem to solve and with unimaginable consequences. There are many ways to reduce CO2 emissions in the planet, some which include electric cars, solar, nuclear and hydropower energy. Although some people will claim that nuclear energy will not work or question its safety, it has become a major alternative power supplier in the world to help reduce the CO2 emissions that lead to global warming and potential extinction of life.

Global warming over the past 50 years has been experiencing rising global temperatures from the human trend “greenhouse effect”. The role on human activity have produces greenhouse gasses such as carbon dioxide, methane and nitrous oxide causing much of earths temperatures rising over the past 50 years. The impacts of Global warming are fueling frequent droughts, heaver rainfall, hotter heat waves, and powerful hurricanes. Global warming occurs when greenhouse gasses, carbon dioxide, and other hazardous collect in earth’s atmosphere absorbing sunlight and solar radiation trapping heat and causing temperatures to rise. In the United states, the burning of fossil fuels to make electricity is the largest source of pollution, producing carbon dioxide. Fossil fuel burning such as coal and oil power plants are the country’s biggest polluters. The country’s second largest source of carbon pollution is transportation sector. Transportation sectors such as automobiles, planes and trains generates about 1.7 billion tons of carbon dioxide emissions a year. Due to the advancements of scientist, energy efficient technology, modernized power plants now burn less fossil fuels decreasing the emission of carbon dioxide. As a result, the effects of global warming are melting glaciers, effecting agriculture, disruption of habitats, and the spread of conditions favorable to pathogens.

Scientists around the world have been researching climate change since the 1970’s. One thing most agree on is that the temperature of Earth is rising at a rapid pace and that global warming has been caused mostly by human activity. Our atmosphere contains gases that act as a blanket, because it traps heat from the sun and prevents it from escaping back into space. The trapping of the sun’s heat by these gases is known as the greenhouse effect, and the gases are called greenhouse gases. The main greenhouse gases that occur in nature are carbon dioxide, methane, and nitrous oxide. Without the greenhouse effect, earth would be too cold to support life.

Global warming refers to an extended increase in the earth's average and average temperatures of the atmosphere and water bodies especially the oceans and seas. The problem of global warming has resulted in various negative ramifications affecting humankind. Human activities have significantly led to the increasing effects of global warming that is experienced in different places worldwide. Global warming was experienced in the 20th century when the earth's average temperature rose by 0.60 Celsius from an average temperature of oceans and the atmosphere (Ritter, 11-21). Global warming distracts the typical living conditions since the temperatures increase to extreme limits and deplete the Ozone layer which is meant to protect human being from the effects of direct rays of the sun. The Ozone layer is very significant and needs to be preserved to avoid the impact of direct sunshine which causes sunburns on human skin. It is clear that global warming has been increasing to a more significant extent since the 18th century due to the actions of human beings themselves. The core reason behind this tremendous increase is the new developments in technology and setting up of industries. Industries emit dangerous gases from burning fossils fuels, gasoline hence producing carbon dioxide which depletes the Ozone layer which is purposely meant to shield the earth from direct sunshine. Since the Industrial Era, the proliferation of steam powered engines, factories, and oil industries became incredible breakthroughs that stimulated the economy and evidently revolutionized the kind of world we live in today. The rise in average temperatures is crucial and is already causing changes in the climate, “Documented changes include the net loss of ice due to melting glaciers and slowly rising sea levels as the ocean gets warmer and its waters expand (Keating).” So where exactly do these gases in the atmosphere come from, Scientists have discovered that “One significant factor, the rise in greenhouse gases, has been attributed to the activities of humankind. According to NASA, “Effects that scientists had predicted in the past would result from global climate change are now occurring: loss of sea ice, accelerated sea level rise and longer, more intense heat waves” ("Global Climate"). The cause of these effects is the greenhouse effect. According to National Geographic, “The "greenhouse effect" is the warming that happens when certain gases in Earth's atmosphere trap heat” (“What Is”). An example of changing the natural greenhouse is burning fossil fuels, which can result in global warming. So what are the consequences, and are they really that bad? Global warming can lead to more droughts and heat waves, stronger hurricanes, and rising sea levels.

Global warming is the observation of the Earth increasing in temperature over the last few centuries and is a topic of interest for both politicians and media alike. The media regularly contain headlines referring to the effects of global warming and is often resurrected in debating the latest powerful storm or unexpected heatwave. This will continue to be of major concern for many years into the future, especially since there are two very distinct camps; one which does not consider global warming to exist and the other which believes that it most certainly does and therefore needs acting upon by both the politicians and scientists.

The current warming trend is particular significance, because scientists have concluded that mostly human activity since the mid-20th century is the major factor in causing Global Warming. Some people don’t believe that Global Warming really happens, but it is happening around the world believe it or not.

Intro- Imagine a life where polar bears in the Artic are extinct. Cities along the coast no longer exist from the ocean rising and covering it. Heat waves and floods are much more common. All of these things are predicted to happen in the future due to global warming. Whether humans cause global warming or if it is natural has been at debate for a long time.

Global warming is one of the major problems that the human race face in this modern world. This problem is threatening the humanity and the life of our planet. Even though global warming is an inevitable naturally slow process, since the mid 1900’s with start of the industrialization era, global warming increased its rate. We have to start taking actions now before the global warming many negative effects start becoming more catastrophic. Global temperatures have risen about 1.4°F over the last hundred years. As small and unimportant as this sounds, it is extremely dangerous for this Earth. If the temperature has risen this much in 100 years what will happen in 1,000? Rising temperatures mean rising sea levels, more wildfires, bigger and stronger storms, more allergies and disease outbreaks, and so much more. There are many causes of global warming, whether it be by human or naturally, for instance, deforestation or the burning of fossil fuels contributes to global warming in a negative way.
