Vietnam War
The Vietnam War was a result of pitting the communist North Vietnam government against South Vietnam. The United States was South Vietnam’s greatest ally and the war lasted from November 1, 1955, until April 30th, 1975. Vietnam is located on the far right side of Southeast Asia, next to the Indochinese peninsula. It had been under French rule since the 19th century. In the midst of World War II, Japanese forces invaded Vietnam. Vietnam’s political leader, Ho Chi Minh, had to try and fight off both the Japanese invaders and French colonial administration at the same time. In order to defend his country, he created the Viet Minh, which was the League of the Independence of Vietnam. This was inspired by Chinese and Soviet Communism.
In 1945, Vietnam was defeated in World War II and following this loss, Japan decided to remove their forces from Vietnam. This left Emperor Bao Dai in charge. He was a French-educated man. The Vietnamese people saw an opportunity to regain control of their country and infiltrated and seized control over the northern city of Hanoi. They declared the land as their own and called it the Democratic Republic of Vietnam. Ho Chi Minh was named as its president. France began to panic because Vietnam was actually fighting for their land, and as a result, decided to back up Emperor Bao Dai and create the state of Vietnam. This was done in July of 1949 and they declared the city of Saigon as their capital.
Both sides had the same end result in
After the French army left, there were two Vietnams. North Vietnam and South Vietnam. There were also two governments. But both governments wanted to be the only government for all of Vietnam. So from
The Vietnam War began on November 1, 1955 and ended April 30, 1975. The war was fought between the communist North Vietnamese, backed by communist Russia and China, and the South Vietnamese, backed by the United States. The United States was brought into the Vietnam War because of the Truman Doctrine was a foreign policy to stop Soviet imperialism (communism) from spreading. The United States should not have pursued an active military campaign in Vietnam because it tore Vietnamese and Americans lives apart, we drafted young men and women into service that did not want to go serve in the military for a cause they did not believe in, and this war could have been avoided.
The beginning of the war started during World War Two, when Japanese forces invaded Vietnam forcing out the French influence. After the war Japanese forces refused to vacate Vietnam, therefore causing Vietnam’s future leader Ho Chi Mien to request foreign help. Ho Chi Mien requested help from both the US and China, and was successfully able to expel all
Fighting in Vietnam started well before the actual “Vietnam War”. The Vietnamese people had been under French rule for several decades until Japan invaded in 1940. In 1941, when Ho Chi Minh came back from his travels there were two foreign powers occupying the Vietnam territory, the French and Japanese. Ho Chi Minh established the Viet Minh in hopes to rid Vietnam of these two powers. On September 2, 1945 the Viet Minh established the Democratic Republic of China after getting support in northern Vietnam. This action spawned the French to fight back to keep control of their colony. Ho Chi Minh wanted support from the United States against the French; he went as far as to supply the United States with information about the Japanese during WWII. The United States kept with their Cold War foreign policy of containment as to prevent the spread of Communism, fearing the “Domino Theory” that said “if one country in Asia fell to Communism then surrounding countries would soon fall”.
The Vietnam War was a bloody dispute that lasted 20 years, from 1955 to 1975. After winning its own independence from France in 1954, the country itself split into two parts, North and South Vietnam. North Vietnam was led by Ho Chi Minh, a communist leader who lead his country into its revolution against the French. The North had a communist style government styled off of the successful Communist revolution in Russia. The South on the other hand, was backed up by the United States and had an anti-communist government led by Ngo Dinh Diem. Diem was a very repressive leader though, and soon enough a guerilla force made up of communists now called the ‘Viet Cong’ started to attack and kill Southern Vietnamese government officials. The Viet Cong
Vietnam War’s leading cause was the Indochina War. Many countries tried to seize control of Vietnam, leading to many conflicts. For a long period of time Indochina was overrun by the French, which was a region of Laos, Cambodia, and Vietnam. They continued to have power over the country until the World War 2. Japan invaded but their power was short-lived due to the defeat of the war. Emperor Bao who was a French leader then took control of Indochina. The communist political leader named Ho Chi Minh decided it was time to take action and sent his army known as the Viet Minh to attack a northern city called Hanoi. Winning the battle in 1945 Ho Chi Minh became president, created Hanoi as capital and announced the Democratic Republic of Vietnam.
The whole conflict in Vietnam started with France’s imperialism. The French took over Vietnam and established Indochina in the 1880s. However, the people of Vietnam wanted to be free from France, and under their communist leader Ho Chi Minh they established a military organization called Viet Minh. This organization took over the capital and declared Vietnam an independent country. Ho asked for aid from the U.S, but the U.S distrusted their communist ideals. Instead, President Truman sent financial aid to their ally, France.
The Vietnam war starts in the 1950s. The reason the War started was because North Vietnam got its freedom from France and decided to become communism when it was split to north and south Vietnam. North Vietnam decided to be communism and was trying to get South Vietnam to the do same. But the United States did not want this to happen because they thought if North Vietnam becomes Communism, then North Vietnam will get all other Asian countries communism and the United States could not let that happen.
The Vietnam War was caused by many factors that contributed to the warfare in Vietnam during the years of 1959 to 1975. Most factors were the beliefs held by people who wanted to change or to prevent Vietnam becoming an Independent Country. Many people suffered due to these beliefs and policies and that the Vietnam War is now considered as one of the most distressing moments in the 20th Century. So why did the US become involved in the Vietnam War? What was Ho Chi Minh thinking when he was fighting for Nationalism? Who was Diem? And why was the Vietnam War have such a devesting impact on both the US and Vietnam.
During World War II, Japan conquered Vietnam which was under the French rule at the time. Ho Chi Minh created the Viet Minh to fight Japan and the colonial French. In 1945 Japan
The Vietnam War was fought from November 1955 to April 1975. The French, who had regained control of the Southeast Asian country from Japan after World War II, faced a guerrilla-style fight in the form of the North Vietnamese faction known as the Viet Cong, known by the acronym VC in the latter part of the war. The Viet Cong viewed themselves as freedom fighters who wanted to be free from foreign influences. However, in order to achieve economic and political freedom for their country, they received assistance from Chinese and Russian Communist military and economic advisors. This group was led by Ho Chi Minh, a Communist-trained leader who led subversive campaigns into South Vietnam, which was ruled by a leader named Ngo Dinh Diem. Ho Chi Minh operated from his capital city of Hanoi, while Ngo Dinh Diem's base of operation was Saigon. With the country divided, yet liberated from the French, both sides became embroiled in a proxy war between the Soviet Union, who supported Ho Chi Minh's government, and eventually, the United States, who saw the expansion of Communism into Southeast Asia as a threat to the international security of the citizens of the affected countries.
France began in attempt to recolonize Vietnam with military power. Then Ho Chi Minh begin his movement with the Vietnamese people call the Viet Minh, Viet Minh are rebellion movement against foreign rule. The Vietnam War was fought as a civil war between North Vietnamese and South Vietnamese. This lead to another war for Vietnam calls the First Indochina War after World War II. In 1954, the Viet Minh finally defeated the French forces in Dien Bien Phu with the help from China and Soviet Union. This mark the final chapter for French occupies, and begin new chapter for Communist party in Vietnam. Vietnam then was divided into communist North Vietnam and anti-communist South Vietnam
Before WWII Vietnam belonged to the French Empire but during the war, it was taken over by the Japanese but since they were being defeated they retreated back to Japan. This gave the chance to the Vietnamese people to create their own government led by Ho Chi Minh but at the end of the war, the south was given back to the french while the north was led by the Chinese, who was not communist at the time, so Ho Chi Minh lost all his power. When the Chinese pulled out in 1946 the Ho Chi Minh party took over-The Viet Minh and by October the French stated their intention of reuniting back with north but it would all be under the french rule so the Viet Minh prepared to fight back. War started in November 1946 where the
Communist is an organization that want to control or have ownership on a community. Some example of Communist that started such as Hitler the leader of the Nazi, Korean war, China, and Cuba. Communist being in the late 19th century rule by Bolsheviks in Russia in the October Revolution. All these wars were taken places where communist is either one side and the other side trying to stop it from spreading even farther out or reaching to them. The of the Vietnam War was the symptoms and consequences of the Cold War. The cause of it was the belief that in America thought communism was threating to expand all over South East Asia and well eventually spread into America.
It was a French colony, Indochina (Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia) and was occupied by the Japanese during the war.1941was the formation of the Vietnamese national movement, the Viet Minh, by Ho Chi Minh to resist occupants. And Communism, Ho Chi Minh launched a guerrilla war against the Japanese support of the United States. Near the end of the war, the Japanese began to promote Vietnamese nationalism and returned at the end of the day, the country gained nominal independence.
