That spider could have a family that it was trying to get back to!” Berthas dad had a thing about not killing bugs because he claims that what goes around comes around, but Bertha thought it was silly since they were just meaningless bugs. “Yeah okay,” Bertha sighed. So Bertha, her mom, her dad, and her sister Delaney all continued their hike but Bertha kept on killing the small bugs that would land on her arms.
Jurgis and his family have very bad luck, and under the conditions they live in, Getting sick is extremely easy, and getting treatment is extremely hard. Jurgis gets hurt multiple times at work because of a dangerous environment, and is forced to stay home without receiving any pay. "Maybe you should where none and then jump of the school's roof." A little voice in the back of her head said manically. "Oh shut up." she moaned as she put the lipstick on. "Sweetie come get your breakfast." Rin's mom shouted from down the hall. "Coming." Rin yelled back. "Maybe you could not eat and starve yourself to death." The voiced said again. Rin groaned and sat at the table. Her brother came in, fresh from the shower. "Morning. Dad already leave?" He said as he shoveled spoonfuls of oatmeal in his mouth. "Ya know, eating too fast will make you gain weight. And since your not in sports you might want to think twice about your eating habits." Rin said in a matter-of-fact tone. "You can be a bitch, you know that?" Len said as he gritted his teeth. "Take that back Rin. Your not like that.", the voice echoed in her head. " I'm sorry for stating the truth fat ass."
Okuyasu waited outside of your house with a nervous smile, rocking back and forth on his heels. The scene of him asking you out replayed in his head repeatedly, to remind himself yes, this really is happening. Okuyasu’s mouth dropped in awe of how great you looked, and you smiled, stepping out and locking your door behind you.
As Nora was running she saw all the people that worked at the training facility coughing on the ground. All the smoke from the fires had filled their lungs and they couldn’t breathe all too well. The sound of them coughing made Nora think of the night her father got in the car accident. That was the last time she saw her mom before she left. The emotions from that night filled Nora’s head. She started to question whether she could trust her mom anymore. What did she need the stone for? Why was she so protective over it? Was it really needed to save the universe or was it just so she can be even more powerful? The thoughts were interrupted by a voice.
While a man was laid up his family could starve or freeze to death, and after a series of such injuries, if he survived, he would be too crippled to go on doing the work. When Jurgis is healthy and overflowing with life, he gets a job immediately. When he becomes an empty husk of his former self he is reduced to beggary. Even among beggars he finds a jungle of savage competition, in which the truly needy are often at a disadvantage.
