“While showing the love the dogs has brought great attention to our organization, we realized we can do more for the animal community as well. This epidemic has risen in recent years and needs to be recognized.”
The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals was the first humane society to be established in North America and is, today, one of the largest in the world. The organization was founded on the belief that animals are entitled to kind and respectful treatment at the hands of humans and must be protected under the law. The ASPCA is a privately funded 501(c)(3) not-for-profit corporation, and has more than 2 million supporters across the country. It started in New York City and maintains a strong local presence, and now has programs that extend their anti-cruelty mission across the country. ASPCA has grown so much even in just a year. In the beginning of 2015, January 1, to be exact, to December 31 of 2015, they were able to rescue, care for, and find homes for large quantities of animals. According to the ASPCA website, on the about us article, ASPCA was able to save 1,200 animals in general. They had 4,600 animals adopted through their organization. ASPCA also spayed or neutered 54,300 animals. Lastly, ASPCA gave $12,000 to animal welfare organizations(ASPCA).
Your generosity touches so many animals and people through our comprehensive array of animal adoption, shelter, rescue, humane education, foster care and other programs. Your commitment helps us investigate over 6,000 cases of cruelty and abuse annually and keeps our 24-hour injured animal rescue ambulances on the road every day of the year. And your kindness helps sustain our Shelter Medicine and Animal Welfare partnership with Texas A&M University College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical
I am helping out as a volunteer at Philly ACCT (Animal Care and Control Team of Philadelphia) located at 111 W Hunting Park Ave, Philadelphia, PA 19140. Tons of animals are abandoned love during these precious times and I want to be the one to change that. I know what its like to have a family that despise you and try to belittle you. I have a dog myself but I would never dare do that to him. Animals and humans alike both have a heart that yearns for love so why do we abuse each other? At Philly ACCT you can be the change that can put a smile on an animals face once
My companion animal placement was with a program that organises the fostering and adoptions of greyhounds, often getting 30 dogs into foster homes and 30 dogs into adoptive homes every month. As such, they and the veterinary clinic they associate closely with are in charge of establishing a preventative healthcare routine for hundreds of dogs through their foster programs and attempting to persuade adopters to maintain this routine.
“No matter the location or scale of the deployment, the ASPCA is prepared to take on animal cruelty cases when needed—from initial investigations to the final placement of rescued animals in homes” (“About ASPCA”). In 2016 alone, the Adoption Center staff welcomed 21,104 human visitors and found homes for 4,290 cats and dogs (“About ASPCA”). “The ASPCA’s mission, as stated by founder Henry Bergh in 1866, is “to provide effective means for the prevention of cruelty to animals throughout the United States” (“About ASPCA”). “By taking part in an ASPCA Signature Event, you’ll help spread awareness about animal cruelty and show your support for the ASPCA’s work to help animals in need nationwide. The ASPCA hosts a variety of events throughout the year that appeal to animal lovers with various animal welfare interests” (“About ASPCA”). Animal cruelty is international

Charleston Animal Society is involved with non-profit organizations that are working to make our world a better place. Whether it is working with children, the elderly, hurting bodies, hurting souls, or the environment, non-profit volunteers, workers, and organizations fight for justice, equality, and hope. In this case Charleston Animal Society works to fulfill its mission by caring for pet parents and pets, providing positive outcomes for at-risk animals, and serving all victims of animal cruelty. And just like any other important phenomenon, non-profiteering is a socially sustained reality. That is, it is made up of real-life people in real-life situations, working together to create and sustain an organization and hopefully working together to create positive change. Charleston Animal Society utilizes both its website and its television advertisements to encourage people to participate in the organization either by donating or adopting.
This organization is a part of a wide collection of animal shelters and rescue organizations that help to create a safety zone from abuse, killings and inhumane actions towards animals. This means this organization does not
Best Friends is very fortunate to have more resources than many smaller groups. So in addition to caring for the animals at our sanctuary, we help to develop and support programs in communities throughout the country, including New York. We do this is by providing tools to help 501c3 non-profit organizations to be more effective in their communities and actively working toward Best Friends No More Homeless Pet mission. “They are sentimental beings who are clearly capable of experiencing pleasure pain and suffering. Consequently, respecting their intrinsic value entails releasing them from involuntary association with humans” (D'Silva and Turner). Animals do have emotions like every human does, equally sharing the same pain, happiness, and sadness feelings like people do. As a result animals should not have to go through painful experiences, since they can be referred to being the same as people. “The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) promotes appreciation for and humane treatment of animals, encourages enforcement of anticruelty laws, and works for the passage of legislation that strengthens existing animal protection laws” ("American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals" ). Although there are many animal being abuse, there are also organizations to help animals get the protection they need. Many organizations like ASPCA, are trying to encourage anti-cruelty laws to be put into action. Not only do animals face getting treated unfairly, they are also being illegally hunted by criminals just to get some money off of them.
Every day there are animals being harmed in every way, shape, and form, but the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) is currently trying to put an end to animal cruelty. Animals are being harmed because of hoarders, puppy mills, and abusers. I strongly believe that animals should have rights against abuse, poaching, hoarding, puppy mills.
There are many stray dogs on the street in America. These dogs roam the streets everyday looking for food water and shelter. Unfortunately, many of these dogs remain on the streets until they die. One kind man took it upon himself to rescue a puppy who had been suffering from distemper.
The Animal Welfare Society (herein referred to as AWS), a non-profit in West Kennebunk, Maine, was incorporated in 1967. As stated on the AWS website, “[they] exist to provide humane shelter and care to companion animals temporarily in need of housing, to assist in disaster response, and to further the cause of responsible animal adoption and ownership through education and public awareness. The society actively promotes kindness, the elimination of cruelty to and neglect of all animals, and the lifelong commitment of people to their pets.” They fulfill their mission through donations and pledges, which go directly toward the care of the animals at the shelter and to programs that benefit the people
Members of the ASPCA lobbied heavily for animal cruelty and effectively moved the issue onto the legislative agenda. The ASPCA was the first animal welfare organizations to lobby, however similar organizations have since risen such as PETA.
The first SPCA was funded in 1866 in New York City by Henry Bergh, who was concerned by animal cruelty. Another funder of a different animal shelter was Caroline Earl White, she created the PSPCA in 1867. “The animal-sheltering system that grew in the USA in the 20th Century served two main roles: providing homeless animals with care and protection, and protecting the general public from dangers like bites and zoonotic diseases.” (Hecht) Shelters are independent and are not monitor by any organization, there are around 5,000 shelters nationwide, “The phrases “humane society” and “SPCA” are generic terms; shelters using those names are not part of the Humane Society of the United States or the ASPCA.” (Petfinder)
