They are also a way of expressing how a person feels about the particular situation. The listener feels upset about the event, but should keep in mind that there will be a brighter day.
This song is worth listening to due to the fact that you can connect it to many other tough situations. The lyrics are quite general, so it does not necessarily have to be about the ending of an intimate relationship. The listener can connect with this song during many other hardships.
Listening to music is a way of helping a person cope with the situation. Not only does a song express how you feel to your friends and family, but it can help you overcome what you are going through. Music has a way of bringing out emotional responses. Crying while listening to a song can help you cope with the situation and hopefully over time, a person will not have these types of responses. If you are feeling angry, listening to a soft melody can help you calm your nerves.
Music has a way of alleviating the pain you are feeling over time. “The Day You Stop Lookin’ Back” is a great example. The lyrics are uplifting and encouraging. Lyrics
In today’s society, music controls the way we live our lives. The influence that music has on society has broadened throughout the years and with social media being one of the world’s top priority, the fan base and spectrum for music in general has expanded significantly. Music is used to express feelings, moods, circumstances, experiences, knowledge, and so much more. With this being the case, the lyrics of any song can be interpreted differently by each and every listener. Many song lyrics give positive messages, promoting well-being, whiles others give negative messages, promoting violence, criminal behaviors, sexual contents, and disrespect towards others. With this being said, music reflects what the public demands, and in many cases the negative messages are often times what sells more than those music giving positive messages.
Music is an art. It is combined in a way to produce beauty of form, harmony, and expressing of emotion; the lyrics help you connect and cope with certain situations you’re experiencing. I chose to analyze the country song, “Good In Goodbye” by Carrie Underwood. Carrie Underwood wrote this song for a past love whom she sees years later outside a restaurant they used to go to and recalls the good in her heartache and pain. This song is very close to my heart, it helped me when I was going through a heartbreak. I now realize why this song’s meaning is worth knowing. Country music’s atmosphere is mostly nostalgic and it always has a great message or a life lesson behind it.
Music can be used to describe how we feel on the inside when we ourselves can’t seem to find the words. Music has the power to help us discover ourselves or remember something we may have lost. I think Paulnack is right when he states that music can bring people together. Many people like the same genres and styles and feel something when they listen to it. Music can be found all over the world and can be related to everything around us. Music has been a part of our culture since the beginning of history, it’s constantly evolving giving each generation their on form of expression. Just by appreciating music as an art from we can make connections to those who are different from
This song is a great representation of my friend situation this year. At the beginning of this year, my friend group that was very tight and supportive, split up. Our group got in a fight about including everyone, and ended up splitting in half. This was hard to go through, especially
Music helps everyone connect with other people. By playing a sad song, it can show that they are sad and need someone to talk to them. Or if someone plays a country song, it could mean they are happy and want to dance. That is how Lil Wayne wrote his music; through the pain and sadness, he felt in New Orleans. It was with the help of Lil Wayne’s music; David Ramsey survived his first year of teaching, connected with his students, and began to understand how connected the students were with Lil Waynes lyrics.
Music and the sounds that surround us have a way of affecting us before we even enter this world. David Burrows, a music teacher at New York University explains this concept by saying “An unborn child may startle in the womb at the sound of a door slamming shut. The rich, warm cacophony of the womb has been recorded: the mother’s heartbeat and breathing are among the earliest indicators babies have the existence of a world beyond their own skin.” (Storr). This is something a person never outgrows. Whether we intend on it happening or not, the sounds by which we are surrounded affect our mental patterns. Nevertheless, music has the ability to help us heal emotionally and combat our current mental state.
Music is another language people use whenever they want to express their feelings. Whether they are angry or passionate, there is always a melody for that emotion. It is universal and it brings people together. There are so many amazing artists that have a substantial influence on this generation and past generations.

Music is an important part of this world and has been around since the beginning of time from simple rhythms to more complex tools. Music not only brings pleasure but it has also brought an understanding to people about the time periods through the lyrics and music videos created. But what about the years before music videos and before lyrics fully occupied songs. During the 1920s lyrics were at the starting line and would originally only be located in a small area of the song or would just repeat the same thing over and over again without any true interpretable meaning. To top off that there were no music videos created during this time, which overall limited the ways music of the 1920s could be interpreted unlike music from the 2000s that
Music is a drug so some that cures and gives them treatment for their heartaches. It is a therapist who knows where it should target to heal a certain part to make a cure. It makes the lonely people reflects on how they will move on. As the reaction of everyone is very insightful, this way would lead us to
Many people in this world have love and lost people but that is not the worst feeling it is when you lose someone before you get the chance to love them. A man named Thomas Rhett explains this through his song “Marry Me,” produced in 2017. It is a song about two friends who have been in each others lives forever and thought they might have a connection but might not find out the truth. Throughout the song “Marry Me,” the author Thomas Rhett uses pathos to show you can’t sit and wait for good things to come, you have to go out and make it happen.
Music, “…one of the most widely used and appealing forms of communication…”, is universal and used for different purposes (Root, 2005, p. 7). Among the uses are “…play or entertainment, which humans of all ages engage in to stimulate feelings of joy, tension, and interaction, and enrich their experiences by adding mental complexity, counteracting boredom and lethargy” (Root, 2005, p. 7). In addition, music expresses “…emotions such as love, sentiment, or anger” (Root, 2005, p. 7). Ultimately, it communicates values showing the reality of society and culture. Anyone listening to “a few records [helps] enrich [their] feelings, extend [their] sense of love or despair, and feed [their] fantasies or fire some real relationship” (Cooper & Haverkos,
The happiest, most exciting memories I hold on to are often accompanied by a country song, whether it be playing in the background, or roaring over the speakers. Songs are written for people to feel and relate to the emotion the songwriter and singer put behind the lyrics. Growing up having my dad be my role model and most influential person in my life, I often find myself in things that remind me of him or our memories, along with songs that describe a girl who is fearless and lives on the edge at times, as if there are no consequences. For me, this is especially true listening to the song “She Ain’t Right,” by Lee Brice, which highlights my personality and strength I got from my dad, my sense of fearlessness, and my constant seeking out of adventure.
I grew up listening to music everyday not knowing it would save my life in the end... the words that I would listen to would somehow connect with how I was feeling or what I was going through. Music truly soothes the soul and just somehow gives you hope to continue on or to stop something. I think I related my problems to the songs, it would give me comfort knowing I wasn't the only one who was feeling the way I once was. It showed me life was worth living and fighting for. Take Demi Lovato for instant, she was going through major depression and found herself through the music she would produce. A lot of artist are actually like this and only some really come out and tell their true story on how music saved them. It's incredible to know that no matter what you're going through someone, somewhere has gone through it too.
Music is one of the greatest human creations (DeNora, 2000). It plays an integral role in human society worldwide irrelevant of race, gender, age, wealth or well-being (Kemper & Danhauer, 2005). Indeed according to Batt-Rawden (2010), playing different music in diverse situations can introduce listeners to the desired and relevant atmosphere. In most circumstances, music is played to entertain people, but it can also form part of an accompaniment in sad situations. Music is often the fulcrum that influences the listener by creating a unique ambience and atmosphere (Bernatzky, Presh, Anderson, & Panksepp, 2011). Chamorro-Premuzic and Furnham, (2007) adds that music can be a medium to enhance communication,
