Adolf Hitler, the leader of the Nazi party in Germany, sent out German troops to attach on the Jewish people throughout Europe and conquer many other Europe countries. Many Jews fled Europe or went into hiding. In Amsterdam, a young Jewish girl named Anne Frank went into hiding with her and one other family. Their hiding place was known as the Annex. While in hiding, Anne kept a diary of her observations and experiences. Three different genres of information help describe Anne 's life during the war. In addition, the author included maps to pinpoint certain plans and accomplishments of the German Nazi’s. For instance, page 94 displays a map showing all the areas concentration camps were placed all across Europe in areas won in battle or previously owned. The map also included the number of Jews who died from many causes (murder, disease, work exhaustion, not enough food/water etc.) in each camp. That specific map was inserted into the biography to help visualize and calculate the real amount of people who suffered for being different. The biographies maps help imagine and physically see the development and increasing power throughout the war. Without the purple pages or maps inserted throughout the nonfiction text, when Anne talks about what she hears is going on in the outside world, the audience wouldn’t completely understand the cruelty of the Germans. Therefore, Anne Frank Beyond the Diary was the most effective genre in comprehending the major events involving Jews during WWII.( or other evidence map on page 30 describing the amount of territory the Germans ruled/won, and axis-occupied territory.)
Anne Frank’s diary entries illustrate her thoughts and feelings the best through the information she wrote in her diary. Anne was a 13-year-old Jewish school girl who used a diary to write about her experiences while in hiding during the Holocaust. Since the diary is written from Anne’s point of view, it’s an actual
People can only imagine the terrors that the Jews and other ethnic groups had to go through during the Holocaust in World War II. With Anne Frank’s diary, people can finally put themselves into the scene and captivate all the feelings and sentiments that Anne Frank has poured onto the pages. Anne Frank, her family, and their friends were known for hiding from the German Nazis in the Secret Annex for two years from 1942-1944. Innocent and naive,
By June 12, 1942, Anne Frank had been alive for thirteen years; as a gift, she received a diary. Her thirteenth birthday present was used to record her thoughts and emotions built up over the two years that she and the others stayed hidden away in the secret annex after her sister, Margot Frank, was called to a German concentration camp. This, an excerpt from Anne Frank 's diary, displays the horror that was felt: “I was stunned. A call-up, everyone knows what that means. Visions of concentration camps and lonely cells raced through my head.” A normal teenage girl shouldn’t have to endure these types of things. It was courageous of Anne to even write in the diary. She is truthful about the horror of this historical event. She could have left out the gruesome details but if
In conclusion, Adolf Hitler and the Nazis brought a lot of damage to the Jewish and others. People were forced to hide in order to keep their lives. While they were hiding they could not do a single thing that would put them at risk of being found. “The Diary of Anne Frank” puts all of this into perspective. Anne kept a diary with her while experiencing the struggles of this war. Her diary helped people to feel what she was feeling during that time.
The Diary of Anne Frank is a remarkably moving book about the short life of a young girl and her family. The Holocaust was a horrible time for Jewish people and Anne and her Jewish family’s lives were completely turned upside down as a result. The war resulted in the deaths of countless people, mostly innocent people. Before the invasion on D-day and the end of the war not too long after, the rest of the world didn’t know the real disaster going on over seas. Anne Frank’s once secret diary has introduced the immense suffering and horror that occurred during the Holocaust.

(b) “The Secret Annex” during the time period of the Adolf Hitler’s reign is not an ideal setting because the Holocaust was taking place, there were several bombings and air raids and because there was a shortage of food in that time period. For these reasons, I would not consider visiting “The Secret Annex” during this time period. (c1) One reason why the setting of Anne’s diary was not ideal was because Anne’s diary was set during the Holocaust. The Holocaust was a sadistic and ruthless time period where over six million Jewish people and many others were killed in concentration camps. At this time, Germany had a dictator by the name of Adolf Hitler, who led the Nazi party and was responsible for a genocide. Anne, a Jewish girl, was in hiding during the Holocaust with the fear of being sent to a murderous concentration camp instilled inside of her. She writes in her diary, not only to have a friend but also so that one day people could read her diary and hear about the horrible ways that Jewish people were treated. She described this as she writes “Who has inflicted this upon us? Who has made us Jews different from all other people? Who has allowed us to suffer so terribly up till now?” (Frank 207). (d3) Anne says “Who has allowed us to suffer” describing how the Jewish people had to suffer tremendously during the Holocaust. How so many innocents were brutally murdered in the most inhumane ways possible and the rest who were not in the camps had to live out their days in constant fear that they would become a victim of the genocide. She also writes “who has made us Jews different from all other people?” showing that the Jewish people were separated from all others. They were treated differently and cold-heartedly. The Holocaust overall was a time of cruelty and unfairness as Anne described, making the

The Diary of a Young Girl, written by Anne Frank herself, is a moving story of Anne’s feelings, thoughts, and observations throughout World War II. When I decided to read The Diary of a Young Girl, I expected it to be mainly about the war, concentration camps, and the way the whole outside world has dealt with the war. In actuality, the book was about the days and nights Anne Frank experienced living in the secret annex. This made the book better because it opened my eyes to the reality that Anne was a real person just like me. She had feelings, thoughts, friends, and family. Anne was just an ordinary girl who went through something extraordinary. Having a great interest in WWII, I have read many books about the topic. This one, however,
The Diary of Anne Frank is about a teenager growing up and sorting out her feelings under very difficult conditions. In 1942, when the Nazi’s began to invade their country, the Frank family tried to escape by going into hiding in an attic of a warehouse. Otto and Edith Frank and their daughters Margot and Anne hid in this building on the Prinsengracht, Amsterdam. They were later joined by Mr. and Mrs. Van Daan, their son Peter and Mr. Dussel. During the hiding period Anne Frank kept a diary throughout their horrible ordeal. In it she described daily life in the back of the Secret Annex; the isolation and the fear of discovery. Even though Anne suffered so much her courage and character only grew stronger. Before Anne Frank went into hiding,
This diary of Anne Frank is a true to life story. Some of the parts of the diary are for public views but not all parts. Its horrible context like the Holocaust and World War II should be considered before any discussion about it. It is for better understanding and interpretation of the diary

The Diary of Anne Frank is a story about a young teenage girl that was trying to hide from being persecuted by the Nazis because of her religion. During that time, survival was the only thing that was on her mind: How long she and her family were going to last. They hid behind a bookcase that led to an attic. They stayed there for a while until they were found a couple years later. They were taken back to a concentration camp. She died shortly after from a disease called typhus. The only thing that remains is her diary that her father found to preserve her memory and insight to be in the mind of a teenage girl during the war. The diary has many themes, but the main ones are stress, grief, and mental illness.
