1.0 Introduction
1.1 Research Background In this modern era, they are full of demands, hassles, deadline, and frustrations. In context of psychology, we describe stress as a feeling of pressure, strain or as a feeling of being overloaded (Bickford, 2005). The sign of it may include feelings of anxiety, tense, worried, insecurity, nervousness, social withdrawal, depression, overwhelmed and various sign. When we are face a stressful condition our bodies respond to it by activating our hormones like adrenaline rush which causes physical changes in our body to help deal with the stressful situation. Bare in mind to deal does not mean to eliminate stress rather learning to administer it. These also refer to as the ‘fight or flight’ response of our cognitive and physical reaction. Stress is not necessary harmful but if it gets out of hand it will interfere with our abilities of continuing of daily life activities (Bickford, 2005).
Stress may be universal but how we response or deal with it is individualized. Which means our cognitive mind plus emotion predicts how we respond to it? So in order to deal with it we must first understand our personality. Various studies have been carried out to determine the personality type in relationship to stress. Therefore, the main question here is what is your personality type and how it affects stress.
1.2 Problem Statement
Stress has been occurring throughout humankind, our personality does affect the way we cope with stress.
Stress is very well known for just what it means: STRESS. Its effect on human beings from a local and a global standpoint is far greater than any of us imagine. Stress can overtake one’s body physically, mentally, emotionally, as well as behavioral aspects. This is not something to take lightly. This is actually very serious. If you notice, it’s not just older people that die this day and time with heart attacks, suicide, and things of this nature. People of all ages. Older people, younger people, and even really young people. Children, yes, I said children. Don’t automatically think that stress only affects older people that have lived a longer

Stress is a big factor in everyday life. It influences how we approach life and events. Stress is why people run tight schedules and diet regularly. The power stress has is a negative effect over our brain and our body. Many people do not understand how to cope with stress. Therefore, people suffer from physical illness due to stress. Learning is not taking place when someone undergoes stress.

Our book describes stress as “any circumstances that threaten or are perceived to threaten one’s well-being and tax one’s coping ability” (Weiten, 2014). Stress is not necessarily a traumatic, life destroying event. It can be as simple a small change in one’s daily schedule. People will have multiple stresses throughout their lifetime. Some will be little and daily, but overtime these add up and can affect you in many ways. Stress can be positive or negative and can take many forms; a few being frustration, internal conflict, change, and pressure. All of which make almost a daily appearance in my life (Weiten, 2014).

It is a normal response to situations that make you feel upset or threatened in a way. Stress is the body’s way of change. The change can either be good or bad.
How well people cope depends on the number of factors such as health .People who are healthy are better able to deal with stressful situations. Further these factors play an important role in handling stress effectively namely positive attitude about ones abilities to resolve the situation, problem solving abilities –explore various options to find a solution, social skills and social support.
In contemporary U.S.A, it can be very challenging keeping up with our fast pace society. Since we are a nation where everything is expected to get done as quickly as possible, and everything seems to have deadlines that must be met especially in the work field; it’s no surprise when we must stare stress right in the face at one point or another. For some of us, it’s as frequent as every day that stress arises and luckily for others, it’s not as much. However, whatever the case maybe we all have had and will go through stressful events in our lifetime. How one chooses to cope with stress is solely up to them. Although, there is one thing that is for certain and that is high levels of stress can be detrimental to one 's health, but there are a variety of precautionary coping methods in which one can defeat this ongoing battle with the evil entity—stress.
As a consequent of stress a student’s body, mood, and behavior can, unfortunately, be affected. Correspondingly, other body effects of stress include headaches, angriness, drug abuse, and pain throughout the body, according to MedicineNet. Stress can become a very serious issue if left untreated and can become overwhelming. Chronic stress occurs when stress prolongs and becomes too much for one to handle, according to WebMD. When one cannot handle the stress he or she has encountered, innumerable stress hormones are released into one’s body, and there is a reduction of serotonin in the brain, as stated on WebMD. For example, we get stress from family, relationships, school-like having to give a speech in front of people, financial problems, and arguments, but for a lot of people, it’s WORK.
Stress is an ongoing dilemma that occurs in each and everyone’s life. It is a factor that is undoubtedly a part of daily living. Due to the trivial problems that occur in people’s daily lives massive amounts of stress can arise. People perceive and manage stress in many different ways. The causes and effects of stress are numerous and one’s ability to manage stress is vital in maintaining healthy living.
Psychological stress is pressure placed on a person to adapt, cope, or adjust to a situation (Rathus, 2016, p.284). The result of prolonged stress can affect a person’s mood, pleasure experience, and have harmful effects on physical health (Rathus, 2016, p.284). Society in the twenty first century places high demands on people. Technology makes it very difficult to separate work life, school life, and home life. Today, society places a high value on a busy lifestyle for individuals. For example, many places of business are open twenty-four hours a day. In addition to societal pressures, attending a university adds to the stressors a person may experience. Going to school not only includes classroom time but it also includes homework,
Stress today can be described as "that which disturbs a person's mental and physical well-being" (Morrison 1). Common symptoms of stress include chronic fatigue, changes in appetite, drug and/or alcohol abuse, difficulty sleeping, body aches, and changes in emotions (Cooper 1-2). And although stress is something that is inevitable, it can be controlled. Just about everything we do today creates stress, both good and bad. In the face paced and technological world we live in, stress management is key to survival as well as sanity.
“Stress is a silent disease” (Doctor Hobel). Over the years, stress has played a major rule in a large majority of people’s lives throughout the United States. When thought about, it is said to be extremely surprising as to how many people really have stress in each individual’s life. People do not consider what the reasons are for the feelings and emotions they experience. There are all different types of stress, and stress can do a lot to a person. Each person also handles stress in a different way. Some can handle more than others, because every single person’s body works in a different way. Stress has also been told to cause people to act out of character (Dr. David Posen). They often do not act the way they usually would while under
