Analyzing The Movie 'Wanted'

Wanted! When you hear, or say that term, the visual that may come to mind may be: criminal, old western movie, or even a comparison to a relationship. But in relation to the movie Wanted it stands for nothing but a guy that wanted no more in life but to find his purpose. A lot of us in this world never actually find our purpose in life, we just kind of settle for what we are able to do. We go through trials and tribulations to find ourselves, and find anything that will make our lives more satisfying, including putting ourselves in harms way to do it. The first theme demonstrated in this movie is Perseverance, which was illustrated in the film by Wesley, and his determination to go through all the physical test to meet standards of the fraternity. His whole intention throughout the movie was to prove that he could become more than what he always has considered himself, which is below average. When Wesley was in training he got beat up by multiple people in the fraternity, in an attempt to make him physically strong to stand anything. He learned tasks including fighting, knife work, and also how to curve a bullet. When he was learning to curve the bullet Sloan, played by Morgan Freeman, states “The first time in your life Wesley, you are in control (Bekmambetov, "Wanted"). As he shoots multiple bullets and still pierces the wrong target, Fox then stands in the middle of him and the target and says, “shoot the target” (Bekmambetov, "Wanted"). As hesitant as he was, he knew he had to have confidence in himself to complete the task. As he shoots around Fox, not knowing if the bullet would hit her, he takes his shot and hits the correct target. Sloan then says ‘Welcome to the fraternity” (Bekmambetov, "Wanted"). He then knew all his hard work had paid off! That part of the movie showed strength and perseverance.
