The first week of school was finally coming to an end and she had a wonderful idea. Each day after work she had come up with one excuse after another to put off his request to stop by her home to study. At least, that’s what she had believed. With his help, homework had become less time consuming than a thought. It was completed within minutes shortly after they had arrived at the mall for their part-time job and an overall subject review during each break. Each exam they had taken that day was so simple that she was shocked that it seemed as if they had not prepared for any of the test at all. She had never finished any exam first (actually second) in her life. The squeak in delight after she blew through the first exam wasn’t called for, but it did feel good. The person who had finished first didn’t look happy about it and she was sure for all the wrong reasons. Well, Ericson did deserve a bit of reassuring that she wasn’t using him as a tutor, but as her actual boyfriend. Her bright idea was so simple that she couldn’t help but to smile whenever she looked in his direction after that first exam. She laid out her plan in her mind and went over it again and again. The mall wasn’t due to open until 10:00 that Saturday and they weren’t expected to report to work until 9:30. She decided it would be a special treat to pay call to Ericson’s home and have morning meal with him. She was certain by her taking this initiative it would surly change his thoughts of
“I want you to know that I studied for hours last night, and with help from my mom, I’m ready to retake the test.” She talked to me for a while, and answered some of the other questions I had. When the bell rang, she handed me my test retake. This time, I knew, without a doubt, I could ace the test, and I
On the first day of school I was in a class full of students. Oh, I hated my first day of classes very much because I could not handle the thought of having to introduce myself to everyone especially with the problem I had. I sat there nervously as I observed the others confidently and happily introducing them self to the audience. I just had the urge to slip under my chair and just hide there until I could escape my turn. Unfortunately, I could not avoid my turn and ended up introducing myself. "HiiiimynameeisJaskiran." As my face filled with embarrassment and humiliation, I thought of all the possible thoughts that approached the minds of the other students in response to me attempting to introduce myself. All too common I could imagine students saying, "Did she happen to forget her name?", "Can she talk a little slower?", or "What is wrong with her?". Times like this, made me wonder about my lack of speech skills in front of a group of people. Why do I either speak so fast-- where what I say sounds like one word-- or when I speak I am not able to clearly pronounce the syllables of a word? As I began to research, I realized this difficulty, complicated style of speaking is called stuttering. Why do people stutter? A mystery that has yet to be unraveled.
I woke up alarmed and breathing heavy. Fear coursed through my veins. Was it from the recurring nightmare I had for the past week or what was to come that day? I didn't know. Both seemed pretty bad to me and I wished neither of them would have to happen, but they did. That day I had my first day of school. I wouldn't mind if it would have been the year before, this year was different though. This past summer was the hardest thing I've done. I had to say goodbye to everything. My friends, my home, everything that ever made me happy. The only thing that I brought with me was my very precisely chosen wardrobe of cool toned shirts and expensive bottoms and my old and useless cat Luna. Our new house was on the edge of town, the richer side. But that didn't mean anything to me, neither did my dad’s new job. Nothing about this new start made me happy. I was perfectly fine in our old home, I had tons of friends and I was close with all the girls on my softball team. Everyone in the town knew me, and I knew everyone. The only person from our new town I knew was the sweet old lady who lived next door who brought cookies the day we moved in. She was a lot older than my parents even, probably in her seventies, but looked a bit younger with all the makeup she wore. She looks nice, but also like a typical rich older woman with all the expensive brands and jewelry she wore. Everyone in this neighborhood is like that though, and I feel out of place. I'm not usually the type of person to
In the morning, it felt like a regular day. Lyla woke up to complete silence. She rolled out of bed, sliding her feet into her slippers and picked up the clothes that she’d picked out yesterday to wear today at school. She opened her bedroom door and walked down the narrow hallway to the bathroom, stopping at her sister’s room.
When he opened the door excitement ran through his blood. The room was huge! He could easily fit everything he ever wanted. Their was a window in his room where he could see the beaches with surfers surfing the waves. When everything was all set up Jim rushed into his room and jumped into his queen size bed. Jim grabbed the remote and turned on his TV and his PS3 and settled into his comfy bed. One thing rolled in and out of his brain though. Tomorrow was his first day at San Ysidro High School and Jim wasn’t sure what to expect. Jim alarm rang at 7 o’clock and Jim excitedly jumped out of bed and ran downstairs. “Read for your first day of school kids?”, said said Jim’s mom. “Yes Mom”, said Jim, and Jessica in unison. “Well you better hurry up if you don’t want to be late for the first day of school!”, said Jim’s and Jessica’s mom. “Now kids if you make your beds, do some laundry, and do some laundry every once awhile. I will pay you guys five dollars each.” , said said their mother. “Sweet” , said Jim and Jessica. “That starts today!” , said Amanda. After Jim had gotten ready he ran down his driveway to catch the bus. When the bus arrived Jim held his breath as he walked up the steps
Isabel stopped at the front bike rack to wait for her 2 brothers and 3 other sisters in elementary school. Isabel’s family lived 10 minutes from the school so they always walked to school. Isabel had been waiting 10 minutes when Andrew and Fern finally arrived. Even though Fern wasn’t part of Isabel’s family she walked home with them. Now everybody was accounted for and they could head home hand in hand.
“Thanks I’m going to work hard!” Alaina exclaimed. It was one more week until the exam and she was never so nervous. Every time she tried to study, she would get too nervous because the exam was coming up, sooner and sooner. She told her teacher,” I’m too
"Hey, I might need a place to crash tonight. Cal, just got home. I don't think I can fight with him again." pressing send she climbed out of bed slipping her shoes on right after. Inhaling and exhaling deep breathes Bailey made her way over to the door as she opened it. Seeing Calahan at the table eating put a small smile on her face. It looked as though he had enjoyed the horrible meal that she had made. It was something simple since she had spent the day studying once again after coming home from lunch. Bailey had spent the morning with her mom and then had her doctor's appointment for her stress. After words Bailey had lunch with Jace and then came home to study for one of her final exams an exam that she needed. Bailey had been attending UNLV trying to get her degree in
He sat up and scootched to the edge of his bed, sighing deeply as he considered the course of actions to come. To say the very least, he was excited, though nervous at the same time. It was a very unpleasant mixture of feelings that didn’t boil over well in his stomach, but he supposed he had to suck it up and muster what he’d been praying to do since the end of Summer, when school had started. Getting up now, he maneuvered to his closet and pulled out his jacket, putting it on when suddenly he had caught a folder of papers in his peripheral vision.
Sighing, Brennan immediately knew this would be a long of couple of days, weeks even. Just the way to make his life even better. He was stuck with an overly preppy teacher, a lab partner who hadn’t even realized he had been in almost all of her classes since the beginning of high school, and a terrible life. “Ok, so I’m guessing that you want me to do all the work and write your name on it while you go and talk to you stup-, I mean great friends
Now let’s jump back to freshman year. There was half a minute till the bell rang, I rapidly scribbled illegible responses and turned in my quiz. I didn’t study for this quiz in advance because there was a gymnastics meet the night before. After I turned my quiz, I muttered to myself, “I completely failed that.” My classmate glared at me; the malice of her raspy voice made her exasperation apparent.
Teagan aroused in her darkened bedroom. She rolled over to her right to get an optical canvassing of her clock. She rubbed the slumber from her eyes and let out a long yawn. Teagan looked at the clock it was only 5:30 AM, she still had another two hours to sleep. But how could she sleep when her stomach was doing all these flips, twists, and turns? Today she was commencing the fourth grade and you had only one chance to make a good impression.
Erin balls up the fourth sheet of paper in the past hour. His idea is more intensive than he had originally thought, but he was almost done. He has spent too many nights working on this to stop now, and he probably couldn’t get a good grade from studying now His plan is finishes within a couple days of the final for Renholds’ class.
The day is calm from the heavy rains as the students enter the school smiling and joking . Henry gets a lot of attention now having a car with a license. Everyone always wanting rides , bribing him with money always. He only used his car for personal reasons , Colleen and his friends. Henry and Colleen walk to there lockers gathering there books , Sam startles Henry from behind. “ Jesus Sam you scared the shit out of me.” “ Sorry I didn't mean to , did you guys hear about Erika ?” They both looked at Sam confused. “ I usually wait for her by the door after she eats breakfast , so she doesn't walk by herself .” This morning her mom said she wasn't feeling well , I saw her staring outside her bedroom window like she just saw a ghost.” She was really pale , I never seen her like that before as long as I've
The beginning of each school year has its ups and downs, but for me, the downs outweigh the ups. Everything about school, except for seeing my friends, is frustrating and sometimes that can be frustrating. From learning my school schedule to having to sit through seven consecutive classes each day for around ten months, nothing about school comes easy, especially at the beginning of the school year. Getting back to the morning routine, getting back to the school routine, and getting to know my new teachers are all things that do not make the first days of school any easier.
