The Lord of the flies is about these groups of boys that assembled on a island.The group of boys ended upon the island because of a plane crash.The group of the boys needed a leader so a guy named Ralph and a guy named Jack had competed.The guy who had one was Ralph was know calling the shot and the other boys had no choice but to follow in behind.The boys were free from the rules and adults just only on a natural island.

In the story “Lord of the Flies” by William Golding, he shows how the boys lost all innocence and civilization. The boys went from having innocent child minds to taking lives of other people, acting savage, and losing all civilization due to problems on the island. The boys had forgotten where they came from and became savage in order to survive; it was the need of survival that caused the loss of innocence among the boys.

As Donald J. Trump said, “The Theatre must always be a safe and special place”, and for once he is right, the Theatre is a special place place, where people and objects transform in front of our eyes. One element that helps make a play great, is if it effectively uses its sacred space. The definition of sacred space according to our lecture is, “A physical space that feels almost magical, sometimes it may transform or appear before our eyes.” Sacred space is not required to incorporate the entire stage either, it can just be certain parts of the play. I remember in reading the book The Lord of the Flies, that one of the boys when the world would get too intense for him, he would hide in a hole in a tree and calm down; that was his sacred space. Sacred spaces are used effectively throughout all forms of art. One item that is used frequently in safe spaces in the act of rituals. Our lecture definition of Ritual is, “Something that repeats. Each repetition feels the same and different at the same time”, kind of like how Star Wars The Force Awakens was basically just A New Hope. Joking aside Rituals are very important in literature, like for example in Lord of the Flies again, the kids would participate in ritual when they would kill a kid or a pig and chant “Kill the Pig, cut its throat, bash her in, drink its blood.” Throughout the four plays we watch the themes of Rituals and Sacred Space flowing through the veins of these stories, that carry the meaning of the works.

In the novel, "Lord of the Flies," a group of British boys are left on a deserted island in the middle of nowhere. Throughout the novel, they have conflicts between civilization and savagery, good vs. evil, order vs. chaos, and reason vs. impulse. What would it be like if the boys were replaced by a group of girls? Would they behave the same way they did in the novel? I believe that the girls would act in the same behavior as the boys in all ways because, everyone is installed with evil inside them which is their natural instinct, also because in life there is always a power struggle in all manners, and the outcome with the girls would be similar-since both sexes would plan on getting rescued.

The main theme of Lord of the Flies is that moral nature is not instinctive in mankind. There is a capacity for evil in all people, and their morality is superficial. Nonetheless, it is this moral integrity that must continue in order for a person to be ethical, for society to be maintained, and to keep society from falling in on itself. Society holds everyone together. Without the rules and the structure, evil in everyone becomes more prominent, and ideals, values, and basics of right and wrong are forgotten. Without society's rigid rules, chaos and savagery come to light. If people become isolated from civilization, then the beast inside of us can break the bonds from society and unleash the evil within using the power of fear. In the book, “The Lord of the Flies”, by William Golding, a group of boys becomes stuck on an island and it portrays the breakdown of society and structure and the transformation of them into savages. On the island, the boys first follow a conch which was the order and the link to society on the island but after a while, it loses most of it’s influence due to the disintegration of social order and rules. William Golding’s masterful use of symbolism is exemplified in his book Lord of the Flies, in which he uses masks to represent . These masks come in many forms, and by careful study of events throughout Golding’s novel, one discovers their significance. Physical masks are used by many characters such as Jack and Piggy, and they are perhaps the least ambiguous forms found in the book. The idea of a mask encompasses more than just these literal interpretations, however. Metaphorical masks are used in abundance throughout the book, and much can be revealed about the characters based on how or if they chose to wear their masks. The significance of these masks is also tied closely to the theme stating Man’s heart is evil.

In William Glolding’s book, Lord Of The Flies, a lot of events happened including an illegal killing. There are many different accounts of homicide that differ from First degree murder to manslaughter. Then you have second degree murder which is an intentional killing that is not premeditated or planned and caused by dangerous conduct and the offender’s obvious lack of concern for human life. Unfortunately that was the Case for Piggy. Piggy had gone to Castle rock to get his glasses back from jack which resulted in a fight between the two boys. While in the midst of the heated discussion and violence a rock was thrown at Piggy and became the reasoning of his fall and

When these boys are in left alone they start fighting and pick sides. In the Second World War people picked sides. These boys go into a small war of their own and it is brutal and has one evil over powering faction in this book the history’s most notorious generals, leaders, and even dictators are represented by these boys.

Everyone else has become a savage. Is Ralph on his way of becoming one too?

     Lord of the flies is a thought-provoking novel authored by William Golding. This novel uses symbolism throughout its entirety to help portray importance and teach lessons. The book describes in detail the horrific exploits of a band of young children who make a striking transition from civilized to barbaric. Lord of the Flies commands a pessimistic outlook that seems to show that man is inherently tied to society, and without it, we would likely return to savagery. Golding does not come right out and show this however he uses symbolism to allow this idea to show. A large group of school aged boys are stuck on an uninhabited island and create a makeshift government. Needless to say, it did not end well. This is what happened in The Lord of the Flies by William Golding. Their government was originally a sort of democracy, where they voted for a “chief”. This can be compared to the United States’s system of voting for a president. Unlike the United States, the boys’ government collapsed and became a corrupt dictatorship. The descent into chaos was caused by the lack of consistency in leadership, the absence of real leadership skills in the “chiefs”, and the child-like belief that they’d be rescued and that it was all a game.

The Lord of The Flies is a novel of depth and symbolism that, through intricate storytelling, is able to demonstrate mankind’s innate capacity for savagery, evil, and ignorance in the face of reason. Perhaps nowhere within the novel are these themes best exemplified and effective than in the feast by the beach in chapter eight. In this scene, the boys under the command of Jack feast upon the meat from a pig they’d slaughtered earlier in the day. They are soon joined by Ralph and Piggy, who participate with them in a strange tribal dance that ultimately results in the murder of Simon, who was just about to tell them that the beast they feared so much was simply a dead soldier in a parachute. Throughout the novel Lord of the Flies, various views and motifs are portrayed. Of these views and motifs, the main message which is illustrated is one that questions society. It is clear from the very beginning that is a message conveyed in this novel. On the whole, Golding is portraying a good versus evil which are represented by Jack and Ralph. In Lord of the Flies a variety of ideas can be extracted on what the message Golding is trying to show. Golding wrote this novel in order to show the basic contrast of good and evil in society and how things can get out of hand if your primal urges are left uncontrolled.

Thank you for taking the time to write Lord Of The Flies. I liked the layout of the book and think that the beginning was well thought out. The ending of the book was a little rushed and you could have spent a little more time leading up to the rescue and mentioned more about what happened after the rescue. Also, you kind of gave up near the end. You could have spent a little more time to make the book better.
