The French Revolution Salahaldin Bileh History 101 Professor Manley October 7, 2015 Throughout history, there have been many Revolutions. The French Revolution was a revolution that changed France history completely. The French Revolution did not only changed history, but changed France’s historical monarchy government to a more republic government. The poor French citizens got the courage to start a revolution from the American Revolution. The French Revolution started at 1789 and ended at 1799. It was the most important event that changed the Western Civilization history. The French Revolution was caused by its “Economic hardship, its absolute ruler: Louis XVI, international struggles, and political conflict.”1 The French Revolution started with an absolute ruler and ended with an absolute ruler. In France, the population was separated into three Estates. First, the Clergy, also known as the Catholic Church, “Numbered about 130,000 in a nation of 28 million…and owned about 10 percent of the nation’s land….”2 Second, the Nobles. “ The 300,000 members of the nobility… controlled about 30 percent of the land….” 3 Third, the Peasants, “the third estate included everyone else…Peasants accounted for 80 percent of the French population.” 4 The peasants suffered a lot in this era of unfairness. They worked so hard, at the same time, they didn’t have something to eat. Their daily meal was bread. King Louis XVI for years ignored peasants’ rights, even after he
The French and American Revolution had similar goals, and were caused by the lack of the same things. First came the American Revolution: the movement that formed the United States. Later, the French Revolution came inspired by the Americans. Both of these revolutions were lead by leaders including: George Washington was the commander and chief of the American Revolution. Maximillien Robespierre the leader of the Reign of Terror in the French Revolution. Cornwallis The leader of Britian in the American Revolution. John Adams who signed the Declaration of Independence. Thomas Jefferson the author of the Declaration of Independence.
A revolution is not an event that comes around every few years. In fact, for an event to be considered a revolution that event must bring about significant political, social, ideological, religious or even technological change. Throughout history there have been some very noteworthy revolutions such as the Agricultural Revolution, the American Revolution, and the French Revolution. Of all the revolutions in history, it is perhaps the French Revolution that remains the most romanticized in the minds of the people. The French Revolution was, at its core, a revolution of the masses, for the masses. It was a long, violent affair, lasting from 1787 to 1799. Like most periods of historical importance, the French Revolution was not caused by a single, specific event in history. It was rather the result of the accumulation of many events spread all through the 18th century. Some of the most important causes of the French Revolution were the economic crisis, the rising tensions between the social classes, the shortcoming of the rule of Louis XVI, and the Age of Enlightenment.
The American Revolution and the French Revolution had some of the same similarities, however, there are a lot differences between the two wars. The main difference is the context of the war. Both the American and French Revolutions were focused around liberty and equality. Both countries were trying to gain freedom. The location of the American Revolution and French Revolution are different. The American Revolution took place in a colony an ocean away from the ruling Monarchy by Britain. The French Revolution took place within France itself, which threatened the French Monarchy. The difference in location also affected the intent of each revolution. The American Revolution was mainly focused on gaining independence. After the British victory
The people of France and America are furious with their kings; the king is spending their money, not letting them trade, and the people are tired of it. Maybe they don’t need a king or monarchy. What If the people can take control and make the country all about the people. The people of France and America have declared their independence with their own letter to the king, The Declaration of Independence and The Declaration of the Rights of Man. These two documents of freedom will start the French and American Revolution, which leads to these to countries being independent and free from the king.
Throughout history there have been many revolutions that have helped shape society to the way it is today. The American and French revolution are one of these most important revolutions to this day. It is what shaped the united states and France into the countries they are today. Even though both the American and French revolutions were important, they also had their difference.
Some differences that split apart the American and the French Revolution was obviously where they took place. The American Revolution took place in the original thirteen colonies which were once ruled by England. Also, unlike the French Revolution, it did not take place in the country that it was ruled by. On the other side, the French Revolution took place in France, but a similarity is that both revolutions still took place in the area that wanted to fight for what they believed in, even if that wasn’t always in the ruling country. Another difference is that the colonists who did rebel did not kill the English ruler of the time, King George III. While in French Revolution, they were also rebelling against their ruler but unlike the American
The French and American Revolutions were pivotal in setting up new societies. Economic, social, and political tensions leading up to the revolutions caused citizens to want change in the way their government worked and functioned within society. Those who wanted the most change within the government were called the radicals; those who wanted the least amount of change were called the conservatives (Baradat 19; 24). The amount of change in their government was a part of the political spectrum which grouped events and people into five groups according to how much change they wanted. Both of the changes resulting from the two revolutions can be classified within this political spectrum as well. While the changes in government resulting from
The French and American Revolution, both a time of civil unrest and chaos, but also a time for fighting for freedom, how are they the same? How were they different? Was all the bloodshed worth the outcome? And which revolution did its job the best?
Compare and Contrast French Revolution and American Revolution The American and French Revolution almost took place at the same time. The citizens both had to fight for freedom of an absolute monarchy. Both the American and French Revolutions throughout the wars of history had many important differences, but with those differences came some similarities. For example, in the American Revolution the colonists uprised against their rulers. The rebellious colonists did not kill their English ruler of that time King George III.
The French Revolution: The event that led to the transformation of the globe into the world we know it as today. One of the most revolutionary events in human history was started by a group of individuals sitting in the Palace of Versailles who decided that enough was enough and that the only answer to the injustices of the ruling regime was Revolution. These people eventually became known as the National Constituent Assembly, or, colloquially, the National Assembly. Over the course of two years, this National Assembly sparked a revolution, established a new form of government in one of the oldest European nations, and made a new society based on the principles created during the Enlightenment.
The French Revolution was a period of social and political upheaval between the years of 1789 and 1799. The revolution contributed to the decline of the monarchy as well as the power of the church. The bourgeoisie rose up against the unpopular luxuries the aristocracy and clergymen enjoyed. After both the French and Indian war and the American Revolution many lower class Frenchman were struggling economically and resented the aristocracy and the upper-class for their continued life of luxury despite the problems much of the nation was facing. In both the French and American revolutions the ideals were brought about by the first Enlightenment and the general feeling of inequality felt by the non-aristocracy. The Enlightenment contributed to
The French Revolutionary War was much bloodier than the American Revolutionary War because the ideals between each war were different and they were fighting for different things. The Americans were fighting to force Britain’s rule out of the colonies and the French were fighting revolutionaries within their own country. While the French were fighting within the boundaries of their own country the government failed and their was a craze of lawlessness during this time. This first spark of revolt happened within the lower class because of unfair taxes that were an attempt to reduce France’s debt and this was only the start of France’s financial issues. America, on the other hand, had a booming economy from the new cash crops they started farming.
The American revolution and the French Revolution are two major incidents happened in the 1700s, which had intense social impacts on both French and American societies. In general, the American Revolution was more successful than the French revolution. The similarity between them is that the citizens in both countries, both faced the block of economic development of the government. However, there is a difference that makes the American revolution succeeded while the French revolution doesn’t. The American Revolution turned the American society into a republic, as the French Revolution eventually led the French society into dictatorship and more chaos in the following
Throughout history, revolutionary trends changed views across the Atlantic world. Without historical documents, we could not see the effects of these revolutions and new ideas to its fullest accuracy. From the likes of the French Revolution with famous document The Declaration of the Rights of Man and Citizen and Toussaint L’Ouverture’s Letter to the Directors of France to the famous Spanish Revolution Document Address to the Congress of Angostura by Simon Bolivar, the documents provide different perspectives on how each revolution had the largest impact on their respective territories.
The French Revolution started in 1789 and is contemplated to be one of the most symbolic events in world history as a result of it drastically modified the face of France, which at the time of the revolution was the most powerful country in Europe, as well as altering the traditions of the culture and government. Various factors led to the cause of the revolution, which necessarily modified the appearance of France’s economic and political conditions. The french revolution was a sequence of political and social acts by people within the french government to defeat the power of the King as well as the rich landowners and develop a government that was chosen by the voters living in the city. The revolution would initiate the act of liberty and
