The global energy crisis is a growing concern in today’s day and age. Some think we should talk about it more, others think we should be more concerned about other issues, but one thing is certain – we are not doing enough to compensate for the damage we are causing.

One by one, governments around the world are beginning to embrace the miracle that is nuclear energy. Fear is ingrained into the mind of the public when it comes to radioactivity, but many of these people still believe that radioactive waste is some sort of neon green glow-in-the-dark liquid. The small number of people opposed to nuclear power are quite obviously not avid readers. Luckily these misconceptions are beginning to disappear as we realise the dire situation we are facing, and the underutilised resource we have sitting on our front doorsteps.

The Earth saw an unprecedented rise in the population after electricity began to be widely used and conditions for humanity improved. This meant that as time progressed, we had to find better and more effective solutions to a growing problem; how do we supply billions of people with electricity without harming our environment?

The answer, of course, was found years ago. Hidden in these two small words was the solution scientists had devoted their lives to finding – nuclear energy.
