The Hero's Journey In The Odyssey

While in the Dagobah system he goes to meet yoda, a teacher, to help Luke understand and use the force in a correct way to defeat the forces of the dark side. Here Luke is informed about Darth Vader that leads The Empire, and how he is the overseer of the darkside. Luke perceives this as a force that he must defeat in order to save the galaxy. He soon starts training with yoda to grow stronger physically and mentally. He is taught how to use a lightsaber and how to use the force. Though he can perform some of these tasks well, he still can’t use the force quite well because he hasn’t learned the lesson that he needed to know, which is to concentrate and not give up. Luke doubts himself and starts to not believe in yoda’s words but soon recovers as his mentor gives up on him. The ability to learn and not give up even when others do is a quality of a hero that Luke Skywalker learned. This also further proves Luke’s will to change his life because he knew he was something more, the event when he realized that he could be a better version of himself changed him as a person. Then the emperor came with some medical bots, they took him to the emperor’s chambers and right away went to helping the young apprentice. The bots attached two robotic legs to him and then they had to scrub his burnt up skin. His hair had been burnt off as well so he was unidentified to be Anakin. His master then gave him the name of Darth Vader, and the emperor had told him that he killed his loved one Padme, he was furious of anger. But Padme was indeed alive but was in bad condition, she was pregnant as well. Later on a couple months later she gives birth to her two children (Luke and Laya). In Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back, Luke is deployed on the barren planet Hoth serving the Rebel Alliance when he is called on by Ben Kenobi’s spirit; he instructs Skywalker to travel to the Dagobah system to complete his Jedi training. Amidst a Rebel retreat after an attack from the Galactic Empire, Luke travels to his intended star system with the goal in mind of finding another master. Eventually, crash landing in the swamp-ridden planet of Dagobah, Luke encounters a seemingly meager creature who pesters him to the point of frustration, only to find out the individual was Jedi Master Yoda. After consulting the protagonist’s former instructor, Yoda dismissively accepts Luke as his padawan learner. Though Luke had received training from Obi-Wan, his knowledge, and training in the use of Force was limited, therefor constraining full potential.
