For those of us who have a special place in our heart for Epcot Center, the Winter holiday is one of the best times to be in the park. Next to the Food & Wine Festival and the Garden & Flower show, Holidays Around the World is my favorite event at all of Walt Disney World. I love sampling the special foods and learning about the traditions of other cultures. Epcot provides many opportunities to do both of those things in a fun and festive environment.
As with all special events, Future World has themed topiaries out in full force from the moment you enter the park. This year the display at the entrance showcased the woodland creatures from Bambi, but once you make your way into the park, they take on a more modern look with these greenery balls framed with snowflakes that shift into Mickey heads as your position moves past them (both above & below). Between the walkway to the World Showcase and Spaceship Earth, you 'll find a stage set up for concerts throughout the day.
We usually enter the World Showcase from the Canadian side, but this time, we chose to go in through Mexico. I really wanted to see the traditional Mexican dancers doing the "bow dance", so that was our first stop. We showed up just in time to see the entire performance and I filmed it to share with all of you, but when I went to transfer it to the laptop, it wasn 't there. I 'm not sure how it got deleted, because I even live streamed it on Periscope, but I wasn 't able to save it to the computer from
Many families during the month of December are busy shopping for Christmas presents, decorating a Christmas tree, and getting ready for Santa Clause. For those families celebrating Hanukkah this can conclude of preparing Latkes, singing Ma’Oz Tzur, and lighting the candles of the Menorah.
In this paper I will discuss Social Theories such as Structural Functionalism, Conflict theory; with emphasis on Karl Marx’s early work and how it relates to the conflict theory and Symbolic interaction. I intend to define and discuss relevant sociological terms of these theories and how these theories could apply to my favorite holiday which is Christmas.

Sundays are meant to be days to spend with families, a day of resting and days to go to Church. But Hayden indicates in this that the father got up early on Sundays as he did every day of the week. He is sought to be a hardworking man that put everyone before himself.
In 1949, December 24, the day before Christmas, Hattie E. Brown, an African American, was born. Being born and growing up in Covington, Georgia, Newton county, where her mother, father and nine of her siblings also lived she was the fourth out of ten. Despite the year she was born in and the census of her family, Hattie became a mother and grandmother, living though the events that happened.
Christmas, Hanukkah, Easter, and Halloween. All these holidays are associated with sugary treats, but which one counts on those the most? Recently, the holiday that relies most on candy has become a highly controversial issue in our community. It can be statistically proven that Easter, in fact, is preponderant with candy considering that it is most dependent of candy. Taking a side in this situation may be difficult, which is why I will assist you to come to a decision. According to the NRF (National Retail Federation), 80% of the population are reported to plan to celebrate this spring holiday. Mark Fahey stated in his article, "Americans bought $832 million in creme-filled eggs, chocolate rabbits and colored marshmallow Peeps, according to Nielsen data. That narrowly beats out Halloween as the most lucrative week of the year for candy retailers." What I tell you nest may come to a surprise.
Growing up, people always hear about how they never know when their time will be up, how they could die in a matter of seconds, how nobody could possibly predict the actual time or cause of his or her death. Only God himself is the holder of the knowledge of this inevitable, fearful event. It only took me 15 years to realize exactly how true this theory actually is. At only 15 years old, I witnessed what most people hope to never experience—death.
Many people believe that XMAS is a short way of saying Christmas; however, there is more to where XMAS actually derived. For instance, many do not know that XMAS is actually Greek. (Oxford English Dictionary) This word came from the word “Xtemas.” The letter “X,” derived from the Greek letter “chi.” Also the word “Xpiotoc,” means Christ; furthermore, “mas,” is a shortened version of the Latin word “mass.” (Oxford English Dictionary). Many people today believe that XMAS is set to take the out of Christmas but that is not true. Three important things to know about XMAS include: how XMAS is used in English, the use of the “X,” for Christ, and interesting side notes about XMAS.
“I was going to propose on Christmas Eve.” Those are the chilling words of Jason Befort to HG when he knew that he probably would not make it past that night. Reginald and Jonathan Carr broke in and tortured five victims with the intent of killing all in 2000, leaving only one survivor (Kovalchik). The Carrs were sentenced to death in 2002, but three of those capital murder sentences have been overturned since. The Supreme Court heard the case on the seventh of October in 2015. The Carr brother case has shaken the nation for what it is, through the defenses and issues in court, and where the case will go next.
Robert Hayden “Those Winter Sundays” is narrated by a son, who talks about his childhood memories with his dad. He describes how his father would wake up early on Sunday and always build a fire in the fireplace to warm the house and even shined his shoes for him. He also describes how his father works hard at his job all week long to provide for them. He does not thank is father for any of these good deeds, much less talk with his father with any affection. The son feels as if there is always anger in the house and that he is not loved. However, now that he is grown up he understands that his father’s actions, lighting the fires and shining his shoes, was his way of showing his love for him.
Let me apologize in advance. I suspect that it was not the best decision to air this film after one of the most outstanding nights in Hallmark's "Countdown to Christmas." In many ways, this is a potential disenchantment after the massive promotion for Mariah Carey's directorial debut and her Christmas special. This may be considered a bit a anticlimactic. And regrettably, anything that follows this grand night will probably be viewed that way. However, in another sense, things are winding down for Christmas, so maybe this is the perfect film to sit back and relax with the family while sipping hot cocoa and devouring a colossal bowl of popcorn. And thankfully, this film still has Hallmark's charm, wit, and guaranteed picture-perfect ending.
When I was younger we used to have a party with my dad’s side of the family every year on Christmas. It was always my favorite holiday because of the family time that came along with it. That was until christmas came when I was eleven years old. There had been some family issues but everyone thought it would get pushed aside for the sake of the party. That wasn’t the case and what went from being my favorite holiday is now something that brings anxiety and stress for my whole family because now every get together is awkward and full of tension.
Every Who down in Whoville liked Christmas a lot... But the Grinch, who lived just north of Whoville, did NOT! The Grinch hated Christmas!
