Ever played a game of hide and seek? Well it was slightly like that for the Franks (A Jewish family living during the Holocaust) except they were forced to play, and if caught the consequences were deadly. The theme of Anne Frank is human growth involves pain, this is the theme because life can’t flow smoothly without a few bumps, there's always a few things you have to get past first. Anne Frank and her family were forced into hiding because they were Jewish, and Jewish people were discriminated against and killed in concentration camps during the Holocaust.
The third change in Anne's emotions happens when she rejected her mother for her father. We see that from the beginning, she always loved her father more than her mother and she didn’t have any interest in loving her mother. One night, she started to have a nightmare and woke up screaming. She disturbed the whole house, or annex, and her mom came to calm her down. Anne lays down and her mom tries to comfort her but she rejects her mom. She requests to see her dad and her mom walks out and starts to cry. Later Anne felt guilty for doing it and at the end of the story,
The Author came out with a strong out look on the situation of Anne Franks Development. Anne Frank was a little girl who lived in Amsterdam with her Father, they lived a normal life until the Holocaust took place and for forced Anne into hiding. Sadly the Nazis found out about the Franks hiding and who they were staying with, Otto Frank was they only one who survived. Anne Frank knew that she would even be living a sad and scary life. "Anne’s Voice. I expect I should be describing what it feels like to go into hiding. But I really don’t know yet myself. I only know it’s funny never to be able to go outdoors . .
At first, Anne was terrified to go into hiding but her positivity and hope showed and taught many people lessons on how you should look at life. Anne had such a big influence on the people who read her diary. The play that was constructed off of her diary writings really lets us understand how and what Anne was feeling along with the others in the house. The Franks in addition to their friends, had people who helped them out while they were in hiding. This is one reason why Anne would have thought that people were really good at heart. One prime example is Miep Gies. She helped the Franks even though she was not faithful in the Jewish religion. Meip replenished everyone in the group by bringing them what they needed. She had a well thought out tactic that helped her be able to bring supplies to the secret annex. She never gave up on them and helped them through their entire hiding. This shows that people may not believe in the same things as you, but deep in their heart, they are willing to help anyone in need. The group of people hiding in the secret annex was in need, they had no way of getting food or any other supplies. This is where Miep came in to help them. She brought them the food, plus all of the supplies that they needed, therefore, making them live much longer than they should have. In the play, you could tell how happy the family was to see her. On page 326, we read, “Thank you, Miepia. You shouldn’t have done it.” this was
Don’t you hate it when your family and strangers treat you in a harsh way. Anne Frank was treated harshly by some people in the secret annex people would yell at her call her spoiled lazy and was always telling her what to do. But some people treated her nicely like Peter VanDaan and her dad in a way that made her feel loved by some people around her. Anne was a twelve year old girl when she was forced into hiding because she was a Jew in Nazi territory during WW2. Anne is treated by the people in the annex in many ways and that effects her character in such a way that changes her character.
The Holocaust was a horrible time for Jews and other cultures that were affected by the Holocaust and the Franks had to make choices that would help protect their family. As the Jews began to be persecuted by the Nazis, many Jews were worried about if they would be safe in Germany and the Franks moved to Amsterdam to get away for the persecution. Once the Franks got the letter for Margot's call up to go to a labor camp, the Franks decided to go into hiding. This could have gotten them in big trouble if the SS discovered them and they might of been killed but they risked that instead of letting Margot go to a labor camp. They did not know that three of them would not make it through the Holocaust. During their time in hiding in the Annex, four people chose to provide the Franks and the others hiding there with all the things they needed, even though helping Jews had serious punishments. The consequences were that the two men were arrested and taken to jail. The story of Anne Frank shows that taking dangerous risks by protecting your family and friends can have major
Lastly Anne and her mother's relationship due to the outside world was beginning to break. Annes mood began to change, because of the news that she had received. Anne shut out her mother, and instead wanted the comfort of her father.
First is the historical event, “ They get their call-up notice…. Come to the Jewish theater on such and such a day and hour…. Only what you can carry in a rucksack. If you refuse the call-up notice, then they come and drag you from your home and send you to a death camp.” (Hackett, 130) The direct quote is next, “They are gone.” She turns away in tears. Mrs. Frank motions to Margot to comfort her. Margot goes to Anne, putting her arms comfortingly around her.(Hackett,130). This event impacted the drama by showing Anne’s mood change. Before being told what was being happened to the Jew’s by Dussel she was somewhat happy. After she was upset as it shows in the dialogue. It also shows that The Jews were being taken and if the Franks were to be found they would be immediately sent to the death
Adolf Hitler was a horrible man, and he made Jew's lives horrible. Killing and torturing more than 6 million, just because they’re Jewish. The drama by Frances Goodrich and Albert Hackett shows that Anne Frank and 7 others crammed themselves into a secret annex building for 25 months straight. Little did they know, their few month hiding place became a few year hiding place. Hiding from the Nazis, the 8 always lived in faltering hope that the Allied Forces would come and save them from Hitler’s reign of terror. The historical events in The Diary of Anne Frank changed the behaviors of the characters as well as the relationships between characters.
Over 6 million Jews died once Hitler came to power, an event that came to be known as the Holocaust. Adolf Hitler had grown up learning that Jews were bad. This is where we think he got the idea to blame them for Germany’s loss in World War 2. Anne Frank and 7 other Jewish people went into hiding shortly after Margot, Anne’s sister, got a letter asking her to report to a Jewish work camp. They were hiding for 25 months, until they were discovered on the 4th of August in 1944, everybody was arrested. Anne Frank is believed to have died from Typhus fever on March 12th, 1945, just 34 days before the Bergen-Belsen camp was liberated. The only survivor of the annex was Mr. Otto Frank. He returned to Amsterdam, June 3rd, 1945. Historical events that happened during the Holocaust can be proven to have affected the annex member’s mood and relationships in the drama, “Anne Frank.”
The holocaust, beginning in January 1933 until May 1945, was the prosecution of over six million Jews in Germany. The Nazi's, who came into power in 1933, truly believed that the Germans were 'racially superior', and that the Jews were a threat to their community. By the end of the holocaust, the Nazi's had killed almost two out of every three jews as part of their 'final solution'. Millions of Jews went into hiding during these disastrous years, in particular the Frank family. Annelies Frank, along with her family have one of the most terrifying yet truly incredible stories from the holocaust event.
Anne Frank, a dashing girl who survived partially of World War Two, was born in Frankfurt, Germany June 12, 1929. After the Nazis took power in 1933, the Franks moved to Amsterdam. Unfortunately, things took an outrageous turn for the worst. Since being Jews, the Frank family would have to go to an atrocious place, known as concentration camps. However, a law was passed and all Jews had to register themselves in. That registry was for the Nazis to find out where the Jews lived. The following spring, the Nazis yet had passed another law. The law stated that all Jewish people had to put a yellow star on their clothing that said “Jood” on it. Subsequently, Jewish families were being called up to go to transit camps. From the transit camps they would go to Concentration camps. Concurrently, the Frank Family went into hiding. The German invasion of the Nazis started on May 10, 1940. A year later in 1941, the Franks had started making tactics and preparations to go into hiding, before the Nazis would accordingly reach them. With the help of Otto Frank, Anne’s dad and his colleagues at the Opteka Company, Otto was able to prepare a hiding place for his family. Furthermore, the dreadful day had come. July, 1942, they had moved into the hiding place, called the Secret Annex. The Franks, Van Pels’, and other occupants of the hiding place hid in a secret attic apartment on 263 Prinsengracht Street. Before the Franks, and Van Pels’ got there, colleagues by the names of Johannes Kleiman, Victor Kugler , Jan Gies, and Miep Gies, had helped set up the hiding place by smuggling food, and gathering clothing.
During WWII, many people may have changed from the time the war began, to the time that it ended. These changes can range from being happy at first, to being depressed at the end of the war, or visa versa. In The Diary of Anne Frank, written by Albert Hackett, many characters evolved throughout the play. One character in particular was Mrs. Frank. In fact, she changed in many ways.
During the time of Anne Frank they Jews were being treated horribly. They were being treated like they were terrible people, and also like they committed several crimes. Many of the historical events in Anne Frank impacted the characters actions, and their moods drastically.
The Holocaust was a time of chaos. Jews were being singled out, killed, and Hitler along with the Nazis wreaked havoc during their reign. Anne Frank’s story is one of the most famous of this time period. Anne Frank and her family sought out safety in the Secret Annex. While the world was at war, the Franks were hidden in the Secret Annex, trying to escape it.
