Sometimes being brave is the only way to get through some situations in life. Katniss from The Hunger Games is brave and so is The Sniper from The sniper. Katniss from The Hunger games and The Sniper from The Sniper are brave because they both risk their lives for their loved ones. First of all, Katniss from The Hunger Games is a brave character because she shot very close to a judge to prove herself and she volunteered for tribute. The first reason she's brave is because she volunteered for tribute “Prim! The strangled cry comes out of my throat and my throat, and my muscles begin to mount again ‘Prim!’ I don't need to shive through the crowd the other kids make way immediately allowing me a straight path to the stage i reach her just as …show more content…
Katniss did lots to prove herself and protect her loved ones and it all took bravery. Second of all The Sniper from The Sniper was a brave character as well. He is brave because he gave away his position on purpose “Taking off his cap, he placed it over the muzzle of his rifle. Then pushed the rifle slowly upward over the parapet, until the cap was visible from the opposite side of the street. Almost immediately there was a report, and and a bullet pierced the center of the cap.” (Flaherty 3) this shows that he The Sniper was willing to give away his position and risk everything although he did risk it for a positive outcome. The second way The Sniper was brave was he got shot and took care of the wound himself and didn't yell because if he did he would give away his position “He broke the neck of the iodine bottle and let the bitter fluid drip into the wound. A paroxysm of pain swept through him. He placed the cotton wadding over the wound and wrapped the dressing over hit. He tied the ends with his teeth.” (Flaherty 4) Cleaning the wound with iodine would have been very painful, iodine is a main ingredient in salt so it would have stung The Sniper a lot. The sniper gave himself pain and gave away his position and that makes him brave. Out of Katniss and The Sniper The Sniper is the bravest. He is brave because he ran across the street with machine guns firing at him just to see who he killed
An important idea that Katniss makes the audience think of is bravery. Every day since she was sixteen she has been going outside the wall to hunt for her family. When her father died and her mother slipped into deep depression she was the only one who could feed her family as her younger sister Prim was only seven. This bravery is shown
Kyle was brave because when someone in his team was in trouble he would stand up for them by talking to them. Some more details that show that Kyle is brave was the part when kyle had to be brave was when Charles stole the library cards of the kids who had to leave the challenge Charles though that he could sneak the cards that Kyle had to be brave and tell Mr.Lemoncello that Charles was cheating But then Charles said that Andrew cheated but Charles told him to.So Andrew got kicked Charles “peped you should kick Andrew
Courage is when you are willing to do something above your comfort zone to show what you’re made of. In a novel, Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry, Mildred D. Taylor uses an example of a young girl named Cassie Logan , who is colored, that must stand up for her convictions despite many injustices against her and her family. Cassie proves her courage by protecting her little brother Little Man from getting in big trouble, facing her white enemy Lillian Jean Simms, and being helpful to T.J despite his actions against her family. Cassie made many choices that proved her sassiness and how outspoken she was. She loved her family and had deep respect for the land they lived on. During a time period when the word “equality” meant nothing to those who surrounded her, Cassie shows those who see her actions that she is willing to face the many consequences that lie before her with standing up for her beliefs.
Courage is defined as "the quality of mind or spirit enabling one to meet danger or opposition with fearlessness." According to Atticus Finch, one of the main characters in To Kill a Mockingbird, "Courage is when you know you're licked before you begin, but you begin anyway and you see it through no matter what." (pg.121). Harper Lee clearly portrays the theme of courage in her novel, To Kill a Mockingbird. One likes to think of a hero, as strong, brave, and meeting all challenges head on. All the characters in this book have a different view as to what courage
Everyone has a different motive that drives them to undertake a personal mission or goal. Some people are driven by fame or power. Others may be driven by the idea of gaining a fortune. There are probably endless reasons to accomplish a mission or goal, but one of the strongest forces that can push someone to achieve their mission is to help save a loved one. For example, Farah Ahmedi was determined to survive unbearable circumstances to help herself and her mother, while Katniss Everdeen and Rikki-Tikki put their lives on the line in order to help save their loved ones. Their determination was so strong and in many cases, their missions led them into risky and dangerous situations. All three characters were willing to take chances, even risk death in order to accomplish their missions and goals.
Bravery and cowardice are both significant to the overall development of To Kill a Mockingbird and the characters that it consists of. There were many brave characters in the novel that did a variety of things to display bravery and courage. Similarly there were also a couple of characters who showed cowardice in ways that would disgust readers. Mrs. Dubose Lafayette and Atticus Finch were two of the bravest characters in the book, while Mr. Bob Ewell was the biggest coward of the book.
Bravery is demonstrated by the desire for lawfulness. Atticus Finch tries to teach his children that throughout the book To Kill a Mockingbird. He leads by the example of himself, and others in the sleepy country town of Maycomb.
One character who showed courage in To Kill a Mockingbird was Atticus. An example of him displaying courage is him defending Tom Robinson, even when he is looked down upon, scorned, and threatened for doing so. He knows there is basically no chance he can win this case, but he believes in Tom’s innocence, and defends him to the end. “Simply because we were licked a hundred years before we started is no reason for us not to try to win.” (Lee p. 87) Atticus needed courage to do what he did, even in the face of his family and him being rejected by their community.
Bravery means being loyal to your beliefs, being fearless in the face of danger and valiant at heart. Our society values the ability to be heroic. Firefighters and policeman are the epitome of bravery, but, occasionally, an ordinary person dares to be just as courageous. In Harper Lee’s To Kill a Mockingbird, three innocent children face the tribulations of a town engulfed in racism while their father, Atticus, confronts the issue with a trail that could revolutionize the future for African Americans.
Finally, Atticus Finch from To Kill A Mockingbird is another character that displays courage throughout the book. The first way that Atticus shows courage is by shooting Tim Johnson, the mad dog. Tim Johnson had rabies and was coming towards their neighborhood. Atticus, who hadn’t shot a gun in years, had been known for his shooting skills and was told that he had to shoot the dog, if he had missed he could have harmed someone, startled the dog, or put them in danger which is why this incident was so courageous of him. Secondly, Atticus took on Tom Robinson’s case which took lots of courage because he knew how the town of Maycomb would react and the tormenting him and his family would go through. Not only this but Atticus was determined to
In every hero’s journey I’ve read in the past, the heroes are always the male character and there were never any females that were a hero/heroine. Joseph Campbell talked a little bit about the heroine, who is a female hero, and most people do not believe that women can be heroes. The first thing that caught my attention in The Hunger Games movie series was the main character and hero, Katniss Everdeen. She was a great example of a hero. She embodies the definition of a hero by the sense of the word; she was not only a great fighter in front of a strong male but she also volunteered to take the place of her little sister who was chosen in the first place. This was an act of heroic self-sacrifice. One of the main roles of the game was to be the sole survivor, but Katniss sacrificed her chance of winning only to save Peeta, whom she developed love for during the game. The actions displayed by Katniss align with Joseph Campbell’s ideal of a hero; “A hero is someone who has given his or her life to something bigger than oneself.” On multiple occasions Katniss exemplifies this version of a hero.
Some people say to be courageous you have to do something as big as running into a burning building to save someone's life. However there are a variety of ways to display your courage. The characters in To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee display multiple representations of courage. Being courageous means to take risks, stand up for others, and do what you believe in, even if you may fail.
In the book To Kill a Mockingbird there are many acts of courage. Some displayed their courage against evil that was strong at that time and help start the recognition of the cruel outlook on African Americans. Some displayed their courage to save themselves or another. Atticus Finch, Jem Finch, Arthur Radley, and Mrs. Dubose display courage exactly as it is defined.
The first reason I think katniss is important is because she is brave. In the book katniss is brave because she fights the capital in the which has happened in the past but failed but katniss actually ends up destroying the capital which is a really brave thing to do. Another example of katniss being brave is actually fighting in the hunger games and not just doing nothing. When she first went in she wasn't going to hurt anyone but she started to get more brave towards the end. This evidence show that katniss is brave because she fights for her life without getting hurt really at all. She's not afraid to do dangerous stuff like fighting the capital and going outside the fence at district 12. In conclusion I think katniss is important because she is brave.
Although half of the Gladers die, their sacrifice makes it possible for the rest of them to escape the maze. As compared to the film Maze Runner, majority of the sacrifice in The Hunger Games is derived from accepting death. During the competition, only one person out of twenty four can survive, which ends up to a cruel entertainment for the Capitol. The main characters in The Hunger Games and Maze Runner both showcase the theme of heroism by doing many heroic acts throughout the film. Katniss Everdeen is considered as a hero in the film as she encounters a dangerous journey. She is classified as a hero in a sense that she risked her own life for her family, friends and district. In contrast to Katniss’ act of heroism, Thomas was the most heroic character among the rest. Although he was a new member of the glade, he demonstrated his courage, his self-sacrifice for the good of others and leadership. As well as Thomas demonstrating courage, Katniss is also known as a courageous figure as she displays heroism by pouting her life in danger while she made sacrifices of the well-being of others. She portrays a true bro as she is prepared to give up everything for the safety of others, she is a great example f a hero because throughout the film she sacrifices herself by taking her sister’s place in the games to keep her sister safe.
