When you think about Native Americans, what comes to mind. Does history class come into mind? Does riding horses and beautiful views come into mind? Does family come into mind? All those different views were affected when the Europeans came to the Americas. Europeans colonization of the America’s affected the Native Americans drastically. When the European’s came to the America’s, they brought disease and greed which turned into death and destruction. Along with religion and agriculture. Agriculture turned into a profit for the Native Americans and the Europeans because of trade. The religion was harsh for them because the Indians were forced to convert. The Europeans brought many more things to the Americas, but those four were the major ones. Christopher Columbus was the first European to sail west instead of east to look for Asia. Even though he didn’t kind Asia, he did find something just as good. Since, his intentions were overall good, we don’t really harp on him for all the bad things he did. When he got to the America’s, he basically unleashed Pandora’s box on the indigenous people. More than 60% of the indigenous people died from diseases that Columbus brought over. He also enslaved them so that they could work for him as slaves in the fields/plantations. Now, this is where the greed comes in.
