This essay utilises a variety of academic research and industry examples, to determine how Events Impact and Events Stakeholder Management are integrated into Events Process Management (EMP)? This essay will also look at how changes in society and the business environment have encouraged interest in events management industry. It will look at current level of understanding between academics and practitioners in the working environment and draw on relevant past information in attempt to answer the above question.
‘Event’ is a term that has a broad definition: it can be an unplanned event or an occurrence, like that of the London 2011 riots or the 2004 Tsunami, these are often spontaneous and unpredictable and have no management system in place only a certain amount of normal municipal control and no one is held accountable for the outcome (Getz, 2012). A planned event on the other hand has a purpose or a goal and an outcome related to the economy, culture, society and the environment. The event process consists of many parts with a variety of professionals and is controlled by managers and other formal stakeholders and managers and producers are formally held accountable for the event. Every event provides a personal and unique experience, which is provided by the interactions of the program and people in the event. (Getz 2007) Therefore, events are temporary sociologic gathering of people for a uniquely occurrence that gives their spectator an experience.
