“The story of the Qur’an” its history and place in Muslim life by Ingrid Mattson focuses on the impact of Quran on the believer, society and culture along with introducing the reader to the major aspects of the Islam by highlighting the remarkable historical incidents and cultural developments. Mattson not only present the annotations of specialized research to provide a deeper study of the Qur’an and Islam for those who are interested but also reference many significant Islamic thinkers and citations from the Qur’an throughout the book. She has many goals in this book such as the issue of women in Islam, making Qur’an accessible to other people and the diverse approach to Islam but this essay will not focus on everything because the goal that I’ll be focusing on specifically is the the issue of women’s role in Islam. In other words, my goal is to show that even though there are exceptions, but women still had played an important to be worthy of attention role in Islam as Mattson deduce that “For men, politics and war were arenas of particular distinction. Most women had little chance of significantly contributing to these areas of public life, although there were notable exceptions. Rather, most women distinguished themselves by establishing and maintaining beneficial relationships with family, neighbor, and guests.” (Mattson 1) A well educated woman name Asma bint Yazid played a significant role in Islam and was the distinguished figure among the women’s of Ansar because
