“When you hold out for high standards, people are impressed-but they don't always like you for it. Not everybody will be on your side in your struggle to do what's right and ethical. In fact, sometimes even you won't be on your side. You'll wrestle with inner conflict, torn between what you should do and what you want to do. You'll also aggravate other people. Seems when you walk the straight and narrow you always step on someone's toes. Don't count on the ethics of excellence to make you popular.”

Have you ever wanted to be on a high school sports team? Well, now it’s getting harder for students with a low GPA to stay on these teams because schools are choosing to raise the GPA on student athletes hoping to see more graduates, and higher test scores. But raising the standard would be a horrible idea because for some students sports are the only thing keeping them in school. But also without a sport, these students could get frustrated or depressed and start doing things so many people tell them not to.
I agree completely, the lack of standardization among laws created at local, state, and federal levels, and particularly from state to state does present a huge problem when faced with the task of reporting crime statistics. Unfortunately, a federal description of laws, or enforcement of standardization set by the supreme court would undermine the democratic system in as a whole. The entire reason that laws and the description of offenses vary from state to state, is that these laws and standards are set by three different levels of government, which provides an inherent method of checks and balances. Local laws can be challenged on the state level, and if still found constitutional,
Logic is defined as “a particular method of reasoning or argumentation” (dictionary.com, n.d.) and in many ways varies from person to person. When you think of a “logical” person, you picture someone who makes good decisions that are based on facts and experiences. While there should be a said “standard” baseline for what is considered logical thinking, logic is something that not everyone can or will possess. I feel that I am a logical person and have always been. I have always used logic as part of my everyday life for simple to complexed problem solving. I feel that it is a trait that is essential for everyone to possess, but like I said, unfortunately, this is not always the case.
Data quality standards are essential in health care information systems to ensure that the information provided to the end user is relevant and useful. In health care, where decisions can literally mean life or death, it is important that clinicians have accurate and quality data. Without strict standards in place, data used to make health care decisions becomes unreliable, potentially untrustworthy, and ultimately will have very little value in the decision-making process.
Standard 3 - The physically literate individual demonstrates the knowledge and skills to achieve and maintain a health-enhancing level of physical activity and fitness.
Standardized means making something the normal, average, or something that is trying to be attained, making something standard. Standardized tests are argumentatively the reason why our school system is failing today. They’re supposed to help establish and check how good the test taker performance is Despite how these tests save time and saves teachers time so that they can spend more time teaching standardized are not improving education in America because standardized test aren’t reliable, they measure the student’s intelligence based off of one day. They timing on these tests cause too much pressure which can make a student not do well on the test. They don’t factor in if the student doesn’t speak English fluently or if the student has
A social standard is something is giving the name to something that this typical, which is ethically acknowledged by society. Regular we look past these things on the grounds that they are incredibly normal in our every day lives; subsequently these straightforward things don't astound our cognizant brains. At the point when a social standard happens to be damaged, one can without much of a stretch psychoanalyze the responses of others. One of the fascinating standards of our general public is the manner by which individuals ought to dress in given circumstances. Variables, for example, humility, climate, flashiness, sex, and numerous others, all contribute towards what is "suitable" clothing. In this way, for my social standard violation,
The seventh standard represents the way leaders should support teachers professionally. Effective leaders promote professional development opportunities for teachers. When teachers have a support system at their school they are confident about their profession which will cure the school of high turnover. The eighth standard represents getting parents and the community involved in the school success. As a leader, it is imperative that stakeholders are involved in every aspect of the school. Effective leaders build relationships with community leaders to assist in the success of the school. The ninth standard represents the overall management of the school operations and resources. Leaders have to manage their schools in a way that is
“Know the rules well, so you can break them effectively,” Dalai Lama XIV. This happens to be my favorite quote as it shows that we aren’t always expected to follow the rules, and in that it is acceptable to be immoral or unethical at some times. In some instances it is even necessary to be immoral or unethical such as when you are being attacked and we all make mistakes.
What is the role of standards and alignment to standards as a way of ensuring high quality e-teaching and e-learning?
The process of care and customer service is essential in both manufacturing industry as well as health care industry. Dr. Deming an American strategic analyst came up with a management philology that transforms many organizations to reduce inefficiencies, waste and improve overall value of the end product (Dunn, 2009). Dr. Deming had a substantial effect on the automotive industry with his methods and philosophy, it is only natural that many other organizations and industries try to implement the same philosophy to improve their overall quality and processes (Haughom, 2016). I believe health care industry can definitely improve by implementing Dr. Demings key principles to reduce waste, improve processes and patient outcomes.
Standard Setting Organizations (“SSOs”) are organizations that are responsible for developing, coordinating, and commercializing technical standards. These SSOs usually have rules on the usage and licensing of patented technology within the standard to help guarantee that firms wanting to implement these standards have access to the technologies required to comply with the standard. Therefore, usually when a patent holder declares its patents as essential to a SSO and wants to include it in the standard, the licensing rules of the SSO require the patented technology included in the standard to be licensed on fair, reasonable, and non-discriminatory (“FRAND”) terms. These patents are commonly known as Standard Essential Patents (“SEPs”).
All programs of Jamestown College are currently accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges, through the Commission of Institutions of Higher Education. Accreditation is important because it’s a process that requires thorough self-evaluation, an independent objective appraisal of the overall institution by a peer review board, and a follow up response upon all information that was gathered and reviewed. Accreditation determines whether or not standards are met, and if an institution should be granted the ability to offer federal financial aid to its current students.
