First of all, for anyone that does not know what climate change is, it is a change in the world’s climate. A lot of people think weather and climate is the same thing but it is not. Climate change is a rising issue of importance in our day and age, and one that is threatening our global society on many levels. It has become a wicked problem throughout the years. A wicked problem does not have a definitive definition due to large uncertainties. Climate change is the term used to describe the warming of the average surface temperature on earth. Climate change; often referred to as the general term global warming, is a topic that often inspires fierce debate among those on both sides of the issue. One thing those who are pro and those that are con both agree on is that the temperature on earth has increased over the past century by an average of 1.4 degrees. The big debate on the two sides is if the warming temperatures are caused by human activities and if it is not stopped it will have dire consequences (the pro side) or if it is the result of natural causes and the earth’s surface will find ways to adapt such as crops becoming more heat resistant (the con side).

It can include enhancing the sinks of greenhouse gases, as well as reducing the sources. Whereas climate adaptation, is referring to “the ability of a system to adjust to climate change (including climate variability and extremes) to moderate potential damage, to take advantage of opportunities, or to cope with the consequences.” (Global-greenhouse-warming.com). Adaptation can include improving road infrastructure, so it would be able to withstand hotter temperatures, or just simply change in behaviour shifts such as using less water. These two methods are essential and can be connected through strategic town planning, and can be used to tackle climate change, through an array of implementations which will not only prepare the globe, but also reduce the impacts of climate change.
