The importance of family (respect for elders, interconnectedness, responsibilities to other family members).
1. I was taught to believe that always have respect for people who is older than you like your cousin and listen to them when they tell you what to do.
2. Who taught me were my mom and my grandmother. Also my aunt and uncle
3. How they taught me is whenever I go to my family party, my aunt and uncle would say listen to my oldest cousin of them all and ask the oldest cousin to look after the younger one. When My oldest cousin would make the rule for the game and when she see something she doesn’t like you would tell us to not do it and when we don’t listen. We would get in deeper trouble for not listening to her then to what we are doing.
4. When I was a young child I taught this because my grandmother and mom would always remind me when I get out of the car telling me to respect the people who is older especially your oldest cousin.
5. I was taught this when I went to Khmer temple, and to our family party.
6. I think the reason we suppose to teach us this is because the older you are the more you have experiences with things and know how to handles things more efficient. The older you are also the wiser you’ll will be.
The role of education (the role of education in defining success, the obligation to become educated, education as a way of earning a living)
1. What i was taught about my education is that in order to become successful in life you have to go
Many people believe that in order to be successful is to go to college. Also many people believe that college is a waste of money. Since we started middle school teachers made us believe in order to be successful is to have a higher education. That’s not true That’s not true many people have been successful in their jobs without even going to college. College education may be beneficial in the future, but not going to college could also benefit you.
After reading Frank Conroy's "Think About It", it is clear that education play vital role in our life. It is the main tool for us to succeed in life and achieve something different in a competitive world. Education is what help us to know the meaning of difficulty in our life. Whether in a good sense or bad; it helps us to understand why we are in this world. Education not only helps to understand but aware what is it value in our life and why we need it.
Malcolm X once said “education is the passport to the future, for tomorrow belongs to those who prepare for it today”. From adolescence to adulthood almost every person is put through schooling. As one gets older in age, the education they obtain becomes more rigorous in order to stretch their minds far beyond two plus two or what color the sky is. The strategies of critically thinking and being able to analyze/decipher information in front is them is reinforced routinely in the educational system. With this being said, the purpose of education is to aid in enhancing one’s qualification, socialisation, and subjectification skills within the society regardless of how or where one’s education was obtained.
When it comes to family I was raised to be respectful of my elders and those around me; however I was also taught to speak my mind when I did not agree. Growing up I met many people who were not allowed to say
“Treat others how you would like to be treated.” This was one of my sister’s favorite sayings when I was growing up. There were a few sayings that she quoted to me all the time, but I know this by far was her favorite. She was the type of person that would stand up for others no matter the situation, to treat every human being with the dignity and respect they deserve. Throughout her life, she demonstrated her belief through her actions.
In America we have very many ways people deal with their older relatives. Normally people put them in nursing homes or care facilities. I personally believe we should hold our elders in high regard. The older generations have seen and been through a lot of history, and have a lot of wisdom. Those who simply do not care about their older relatives are making a huge mistake.
As an asian, you are expected to know that you should treat your elders as if they are royalty. You are expected to greet them, comply with their requests, and most importantly listen to what they have to say. Failing to follow these kinds of rules is like being slapped by the invisible hand of God. You will be scolded just for showing even a little sign of disrespect to your elders. I was very young and was not familiar with these special rules for treating the elder, so when I was walking away from my uncle because I was bored of talking with him, he yelled at me because he was still talking to
“10. One should stand by blood relatives in any situation whether they be right or wrong.
It is all fun and games until someone feels excluded and starts drama. I never wanted this to happen, it wasn’t my fault technically. When I visited my grandparents this summer in Jordan I was nervous as I had not been there in 6 years. Throughout my trip I befriended some of my cousins, Alex and Ahmad and I quickly became this trio of friends. Our other cousins knew about us and called us by the dumb name we made up for ourselves inspired by a typo Alex made, “The Sweaty Babies”. I was so glad that they wanted me to hang out with them, we had the same age and got along very well. Jenin was another cousin of ours who wanted to hang out with us but we did not want her, especially both of my cousins. She tried to join us
Education is the key to success and without it you will not have a future. That is embedded in my brain. As a teenager you listen to your parents nag on you all the time about school and just think it’s easier said than done. But for me I lived through paradigm, my mom went back to school while raising us and working two jobs. She graduated from ASU with a 4.0 GPA and was honored and on the news because of all she’s done and went through in her lifetime. I have a difficult enough time doing my homework and going to basketball training. My mother went to school full-time, had two jobs, cooked for us, cleaned, paid bills, went to our games and still managed to get a 4.0. She always tells us if I can do it you can. Nothing in life comes easy you have to work for it, then you will be a success, if it is just given to you then you will never recognize the value of it.
I was taught at a very young age to always respect my elders and to never talk back (of course there are certain circumstances to where that doesn’t apply).
The last rule is respecting yourself. Respecting yourself can mean holding your head up high and respecting your own ideas. You can share your ideas even if you might not thing they are right. But it can lead to more important things like peer pressure, and not giving into it. It is about not letting it affect you in any way or sort. You can not have respect for others if you can not respect yourself.
Getting educated is very important for every person. It goes without saying that each of us has to have a proper education. We learn how to read, count and write. These are the basic abilities we acquire and use during our life. Is there any other purpose of education or it is aimed only at giving us a possibility to communicate our ideas and satisfy basic needs? During centuries, there were different interpretations of the purpose of education. Many scientists, pedagogues and philosophers tried to answer the question: what is the purpose of education? Taking into consideration the needs and tendencies of a modern society, we can assume that the purpose of education is to prepare students to be self-sufficient citizens capable of solving
If we talk about Christianity point of view Holy bible lays down “Wives submit yourself into your own husbands as unto the Lord.”
Education is one of the most important things for a society to prosper and be safe which forms the character and intelligence of the individuals around the world. Education makes one able to understand what is happening in the world logically and clearly. Education enables individuals to put their potential to use and make a difference in the future.
