Describe your stressful circumstance in your own words.
During the school year, homework tends to consume my life. Though the intention of homework is to help me learn, I’m eager to learn in different ways. I really want to have the time to participate in extracurricular activities, especially those related to the careers I’m interested in. I feel like these would provide me with a sense of what I’d like to major in. The conflict is my schedule. I’m still quite busy with homework and will be adding a job to the mix, so I’m not sure where I can fit this in.
Describe how your stressful circumstance could be worse than it is.
If I got a lot more homework than was listed in the syllabus of each course, than I think it would add to the

In addition, my teachers could decide to give us last minute parameters on an assignment that I have already completed, forcing me to redo the assignment. If more homework were added, I’d likely get fall short on sleep. For my work, my employers would just need to decide that they need me on more shifts than I listed myself available.

Write a realistic story about how the better version you identified in step 3 might actually take place. What would have to change in you and the others involved to make things even better? Once you have written your story, estimate (from 0% to 100%) how likely it is to come true.
To finish my assignments in a more reasonable amount of time, I’d need to stop being so much of a perfectionist and to stop worrying so much how tough of a grader my teachers are going to be. I would also need to quit looking up random videos when I’m supposed to be doing my homework. It’s not necessarily a must, but my teachers could decide that they don’t want to grade the assignments they’ve assigned. For my job, my employer would stick to the schedule that I requested, allowing me also on occasion to pick up an extra shift if I need.

What specifically can you do to bring about the better version of your problem and stop the worse version from happening?

Additionally, with the new bedtime, the work I didn’t have time for or forgot to do, would be able to be accomplished. Not only would I have the opportunity to work on more work, I would have more time to work on the specific work assigned. If I studied harder and longer, my grades would improve even more. The standard guideline for homework is that students should be spending 10 minutes for every grade they are in. First grade should be 10 minutes, and approximately 80 minutes for eighth-grade students. With more time to work, I could be capable of taking breaks in between different classes. Studies show breaks provide benefits including less procrastination and more focus and efficiency.
You can stop worrying about missing work, because if there isn’t any, there isn’t anything to worry about. Sometimes, when teachers tell the class that the grades need to be turned in soon, I can see my classmates start to stress because they have piles of missing work that they haven’t even started. Work and assignments that need to be turned in won’t pile up all at once. In addition, there is less homework. If the work is spread out evenly each day, there will be less homework to do at once, making late school nights less stressful.
For some people, it may be difficult to manage time in order to keep up with school and still be involved with extracurricular activities. However, for myself, this was not the case. I have been involved in the Slippery Rock University Winter Guard since my freshman year, which requires much dedication and commitment. Competing in local and even international level competitions across the country, the dedication required for membership in the guard is extraordinary. My commitment to the winter guard as well as my determination in my studies has allowed me to prime my time management skills to be successful in both areas without compromising the quality of my efforts in either one. Moreover, I have also been involved in numerous volunteer opportunities including Special Olympics, therapeutic horseback riding, and sled hockey. I also have a job at the Student Health Center. Although I keep myself very busy, I have managed to maintain an overall GPA of 3.5. Through my shadowing experiences in physical therapy, I have seen that some days can be fast-paced; therefore, it is important to have the ability to manage time in order to accomplish everything effectively and
Now a days technology is improving and students are staying at home, not being active. Extra-curricular activities are beneficial to someone’s life and discovers new skills for the individual. “One of the great benefits of extracurricular activities is creating new opportunities to learn and think about themselves to learn what they like and don’t like,” (Starett, 2011). This is why extra-curricular activities are important to help determine the individual discover skills that are suited for them, but time management is key to be able to participate in extra-curricular activities. “Decide which method works best for you: an agenda book for an electronic calendar and use it consistently,” (www.yrdsb.ca, 2015).
It is very important that I use my time wisely and do not wait until the last minute to have my assignments completed. While I have job, my main priority is to finish school. Cutting my work hours, so I will have more time to focus on my school work, is just a minor thing that will ultimately pay off. I am, however, a huge procrastinator and therefore will have to work hard to keep my priorities well in mind
It is evident in almost every high school, students don’t seem to appreciate the piles of homework their teachers’ assign. Students don’t seem to have the time nor the willpower to do homework sometimes, due to their busy schedules or motivation for school. Majority of students, I’ve spoken to have said homework not only wastes time but also takes away from the excitement of learning. Clearly, in most schools, homework isn’t the most popular choice for students. Sometimes teachers assign a couple of pages of homework but then tag along a project and a presentation into the mix, leaving us young adults procrastinating to perfect everything before the due date, usually being the next day. Homework is an unnecessary chore which stresses teenagers out by taking time out of their day, which could be used for more effective manners for preparing for tests and developing their minds.
However, extracurricular activities can also be a strain on your life. Getting into college is so competitive recently, leading to high schoolers will doing everything they can to better their chances of being accepted including more and more extracurricular activities. Extracurricular activities are anything outside of mandatory schooling, this includes clubs, sports, and religious life. Even though extracurricular activities are almost required to be viewed as a well rounded student, the time and requirements of college applications and scholarships can be hard to manage. Adolescents who do extracurricular activities tend to never be fully committed to their school work. Let's take Patricia for example, Patricia is an AP student, HOSA member, Beta member, and student-athlete. Patricia will not be fully committed to her studies, her clubs, or her sport because she does not have enough time to excel in everything. All of these extracurricular activities that Patricia is involved in are stressing her out. This stress can allow Patricia to engage in negligent decisions that will result in her not being able to participate in any of these
Extracurricular activities are something I participate in like my favorite wrestling. I have many things that I love
I had numerous concerns about going into seventh grade grade. One thing I was worried about was that the work would get harder. Since we started the school year the work has been easy. In my classes we don't get a lot of homework. Mrs wallace states “ I don't believe in homework.” Many of my other teachers don't give me a lot of homework either. Another worry I had was the teachers would be mean. Some people say that Mrs. Newton would be mean, but she's not. She just has high expectations. Also all my other teachers have been nice and fun. Finally my last worry was football. I was scared I wouldn't start because all the kids came together on one team. Now that the season started I start on defense. Playing together is really fun. Therefore
My schedule for next year will be AP Physics C, AP Chemistry, Multivariable Calculus & Linear Algebra, AP Great Books, AP Spanish 6, and AP Computer Science. While it seems like a lot, it should be manageable considering I will enter AP Physics C, AP Computer Science, Linear Algebra, and AP Spanish 6 with previous experience (hovercraft, astronomy/astrophysics, Physics Olympiad, the summer science program, a decade of Spanish). Outside of the classroom, my other clubs include BinaryHeart, math team, and computer science club, but the time commitment from them are marginal and rarely pass an hour a week. Even with my intense schedule this year, with the same clubs and 6 APs, I have been able to dedicate significant amount of time Science Olympiad.
With the current traditional schedule, most students, including me, stay up late to do homework after they attend all afterschool activities. In addition, students get booked with homework for at most and usually four classes daily. This results in students cramming late at night to finish all their assignments, be able to participate in extracurricular activities, and get enough rest for the next school day. However, considering the work periods that block scheduling offers, students could be able to finish most of their work without any problems. This could result in less stress, more success, and better grades for
Though these times were considered the ugly years for a few, this was not so for me. The classes were simple. The teachers were nice to communicate with. There was also plenty of time to spend with family. In my middle school career, I worked, but there was plenty of time have a day of watching television without falling behind or watering the garden for two hours because I didn’t have any homework.
I hope I didn't offend you in anyway. My intentions of sending you past material was to just help and if you wanted to use it you could. I am sorry if I did, I promise I was just trying to help out because I am sure it is not easy jumping in at the middle of the semester. As for my reading abilities, I know it brings me down a little bit and I know I have to work harder than others but, I am willing to work as hard as possible to get my nursing degree. Reading out loud frightens me after growing up with my dad trying to teach me to read and when I would mess up a word he would yell at me, call me names, or throw the book. I am not telling you this to pity me because, I believe strongly that God gave me this life because I am strong enough to
When I am doing my homework, I get distracted very easily; therefore, I have trouble getting my homework done in a timely manner. I can’t manage time very well; however, I can get my homework done much faster when I listen to music. Since I pick things up easily, I can probably learn time management skills quickly.
As kids get into high school, most parents hope that their kids will join some kind of club or team. A question parents might ask is, “How involved should kids be in extracurricular activities or should they even be involved at all?” Extracurricular activities can be both advantageous and unpromising depending on what the student plans on participating in and also how many activities the student plans participating in. Many studies have been conducted trying to find the answer to those questions.
