In some countries every young person must serve two years of military service. Should the U.S. have a similar policy? On the bright side, citizens will know how to work in crew and defend themselves. Also, The rate of obesity will decrease due to the training and regimen thought by the military. Overall, countries who have this policy are known to have citizens with more discipline and character. Well supervised Military service has known to be beneficial in a less than 12 months period. Yes, the united states should demand military service to its citizens for a period of no more than 12 months. If the military service is mandatory in the United States the rate of obesity will decrease, due to the training and regimen thought by the
The United States of America is the nation with the largest, most powerful, and most funded military. The United States has been known to commonly get involved with other nations purely based off the fact that it is militarily capable. In the past the United States has had to implement several drafts to support the military’s need for more troops. The question is, in this day and age, would it be acceptable for the United States to order a national mandatory military conscription to fuel the military? There are always those that are exempt from military service, as well as those who cannot be exempt which increases the gap of inequality which will harm some more than others. Due to evidence presented in previous conscription efforts, possible
Every able-bodied American should be required to serve a minimum of two years of military service. We are the first line of defense; whether it be of our county or ourselves. Many are more than willing to turn this responsibility over to someone else. As a society, we are soft, distrustful of one other, thin-skinned, easily distracted, and unwilling to take personal responsibility for our actions. Mandated military service will help establish a more committed nation that is resilient, respectful of rights and freedoms, will enter adulthood with practical work experience and better physical fitness standards. I will inform you of each way military service would be beneficial for the general population.
Serving the United States Military comes with many responsibilities as well as pressure and accountability. However, the military isn’t for everyone, but it offers so much for those who serve. One thing that must be known and dealt with is that this career could be a life threatening one, and there are many obstacles one must go through beforehand.
Many countries require young people to serve two years of military service, and as we continue to have military conflicts across the world, some people have proposed that the united states adopt a similar type of policy of mandatory conscription. I believe that a two-year period of national service should be obligatory for all 18 year olds. It’ll help strengthen the character of youth, and will help increase the collective conscience of a nation and the restraint of leaders when considering military action. As we have 18 year olds go into the military, they should get the option in whatever kind of public service that suits his or her interest. Different genders across the world are frequently given different responsibilities. For example,
“Should the United State of America adopt the idea that every American citizen should serve at least 2 years in the military?”, in my opinion, this is a terrible idea. America is “The Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave”. Going into the military should be a personal choice. What would this benefit anyways? This is, in my opinion, a bad idea, this would change the course of America’s history as we know it.
I think that as a whole our country has pride. People want to join the army, navy or military. Troops don’t just walk toward the danger but attack it with pride. They are willing to die for what they believe is right. They will defend this nation with everything they got. And if they had the chance many of them would do it all over again. Because they believe in our country and we would not be here if it weren't for them. We fight with honor and dignity and that should not be overlooked. For as long as we have Hope, I believe America with thrive.
One reason why Mandatory service is the best possible solution or alternative is due to the strength and nationality unity it brings. Every young adult should embrace this responsibility to defend the sacred shores of their birthplace in exchange for the fortune of being an American. Having this compulsory service will create a large military force in reserve which can be called upon anytime. With every single citizen enlisting in the military, this allows a country to defend its land and people with the drop of a dime. The Government has had such a difficult time of assembling a full fighting force dating back to the early 1970’s (John Spence,2016) Though during the Vietnam war America had the closest thing to mandatory service, and it was called the draft. However, after that war the United States ended that practice. The Government believed that Americans would Volunteer to serve when the nation’s security is at risk, but the past few years of war have proven that assumption wrong. For example, the Army tried to expand their troop number to meet the demands of Iraq and Afghanistan but it failed to do so. This then forced current soldiers to have their tour extended and have unfit soldiers return for duty. This solution solved nothing but continuing the horrible institutional idea of Volunteer service. This is why it is so
The United States has used ẗhe draft in four military conflicts since the countryś beginning. The rest of the time, the country has relied upon volunteers. Many countries require citizens to serve two years of military service, but should the United States do this? There are a lot conflicts that will come in play if they put the mandatory service on us, whether we vote for it, or congress makes this law. The only time the United States will pick you if you get drafted. Drafted means that they pick your name when they don't have enough people for war and the United states has used that for older wars but not the newer ones because they have enough people why then do we need mandatory service or what will the benefits for this. My
Even though mandatory military service is has already been mandated in some countries, but it shouldn't be mandated in any other countries. There should be freedom given to these young adults that recently graduated teens. Mandating military service is a heartbreaking mandatory law to families.
The topic of mandatory national service has been around for years now, and there will always be arguments on whether it should be enforced or not. Some may say that it takes away our freedom, but is it not what gives us freedom in the first place? The United States’ military, national service, as well as community service is based on volunteers. That is what makes this country great, but there are less volunteers as years go by. Crime increases, streets are not safe anymore, Americans are oblivious to what is happening around the world. There are so many opportunities to give back to the country, yet, not many care. Today’s generation is based on social trends, and self-gratification. There is also the fact that many young people do not know what to do with their life after high school, some continue to college or focus on work, others do not work nor study. Therefore, all young men and women should be required to give two years to national service because it can help solve problems as well as build the community back together.
Obesity has been a problem in America form many years but has begun be an issue of Nation Security due to the number of young men and woman disqualified for service. Thirty percent of our young men and woman are overweight and have to lose weight to enter the military and can barely pass the minimum height/weight standards. Being out of sharp can be a distraction when entering, completing basic and advance training due to stress an individual imposes on themselves to succeed. This will put undue pressure on each new recruit’s as they enter their military career physically, mentally and academically. The problems encountered are that they are out of shape, stressed out and are worried about not being able to conform to the military.
In some countries, most people have to serve a mandatory two years in the military. Should we have a similar policy here in the United States? I say that we do not have that policy here because some people may not want to, not all of them will learn at the same pace, and there will be a lot deaths. Even though you might get drafted to the military in time of war, they should not make you do it. Some countries that make you serve more than 16 mandatory months are Armenia, Angola, Central African Republic, and Chad.
Most people have, at one point or another, considered what they were going to do with their lives. Whether a person would like to become an activist, an artisan or a business professional, the military has something for everyone. Finding a path in life is often filled with uncertainty and procrastination. The United States military is a path in itself, should one wish to retire from it; however, should a person wish to make their own path, there are benefits for that as well that can remove all doubt and curb procrastination. Due to these many benefits, I believe that it should be mandatory for all adults to enlist for a minimum of twenty-four months.
In todays society the war in the Middle East can be considered a controversial topic. The men and women in Iraq and Afghanistan put their lives on the line every day to help keep our country free. No one has forced them to serve in the United States Armed Forces they have made their own conscience decision to serve. However these men and women only make up a small percentage of the United States population. Should all men and women be required to serve in the U.S. armed forces when they graduate from high school or should the United States require mandatory military service?
Making military service mandatory sound like it would be a good idea. This can give discipline, makes stronger citizens, but the reality is doing this takes away freedom and goes against the very foundations of what America is supposed to be. Mandatory military service should not be required for American citizens.
