The poem reads, in describing the young King Arthur, as “ (Arthur) the most attractive of his size who could sit on a horse. For while in back and chest his body was forbidding, both his belly and waist were becomingly trim.” (Gawain, 141 – 143). From this description, King Arthur is an attractive young man. The Green Knight is mentioned to be muscular and handsome as well during his introduction to the poem. These supermodel-like looks seemed to be the appeal for youths are desired when describing one’s youth. Would King Arthur, or the Green Knight, have the same impact to the poem if they were described as old? The desire of a physical body youth mirrored in The Lady of the House of Love as the young man is described to have a handsome face
