It is almost impossible to find a Lamborghini Miura in a barn. After all, who wouldn’t remember owning this dynamic machine? The rarity of the situation is what makes this car so special. Furthermore, it is highly unlikely for somebody to own a Miura and keep it hidden in their barn. I know I would brag if I owned one of these machines.
Behind every successful story, there is a painful story. The 1967 Lamborghini Miura P400 needed some clutch and bake repair in the late '80s. Unfortunately, the repair coincided with the death of his mother, and so the car ended up in the barn for the next 25 years. During an interview with Petrolicious, the current owner admitted that the initial owner of the Lamborghini was his grandmother’s cousin, who drove,
I can remember how excited I was when I bought my very own first car. I spent hours and hours fixing up my car exactly how I wanted it. I waited a very long time to buy my own car. I worked for hours and hours, saving money to buy a good running car. I did not want to buy a cheap car. I wanted to buy one I know would last and didn’t have anything more than minor mechanical problems, if any. I knew if I bought one of the streets it was bound to come with something needing to be repaired or replaced. Having proper maintenance done to the car was also my way of guaranteeing my car would at least run okay for a little while. My first car was a 2002 Hyundai Sonata featured with 19’ black rims, with clean interior and dark tinted windows. The sound system was in great condition and for it to be stock, had a really nice bang to it. I absolutely loved my car, It felt so nice and I

Over the past sixty years, the American car scene has been dominated by two completely different vehicles and the entire communities that believe in them. Both designed, founded, and rooted in Detroit, Michigan, the Ford Mustang and the Corvette have continued to fuel the chase for the label of America’s true muscle car. The question over the years has been, why and how do consumers choose which to own, and which one is our “bald eagle”? Investigating deeper into the roots of each American superpower, it all began with introduction of something that would change the automotive industry forever. “Corvette: Dream Car Come True”, is an article that highlights the beginning of the car movement in the United States: the birth of Chevrolet’s Corvette. “Born in 1953 at the General Motors plant in Flint, Michigan, the Corvette grew up on the raceway and has ruled the road ever since” (Seiden 14). The article also goes on to mention that “the Corvette is not for racers only. True car lovers own Corvette cars for everyday driving… and the highest performance standards have been built into every model” (Seiden 14). Early dominance of Corvettes on and off the racetrack, led other competitors such as Ford Motor Company wonder why and how the Corvette could be out-driven and out-sold. Directly opposing the release of the Corvette and its multipurpose ingenuity “Lee Iacocca, then general manager of Ford Motor Company, challenged his design team to create a car that could be driven ‘to
Camaro, a car that is easily recognizable on the streets today is probably one of the most iconic and controversial cars that hit the streets in 1967. For over 45 years the Camaro has exceeded expectations and often surpassed the likes of its adversaries, the challenger and the iconic mustang. Critiques often thought that the Camaro would fall short especially to the mustang due to the fact that it has a 3-year jump on the Camaro, but sales records and Trams Am racing titles might mean that the Camaro is doing just fine. Even though the Camaro is still going strong for over 45 years it hasn’t been easy. Workers strikes, recalls, even ending the production of the Camaro were just a few of the Camaro’s
Since I'm choosing to sell private I've had to sit down and write up a sales pitch for my old car, and that's really made me step back and evaluate the trials and tribulations I went through in this vehicle. One often reflects on the memories built up at a house or apartment, but when you think about the
I feel like Romero knowss how much we love our cars. We also use them a lot until a new car comes out that you like. Usually my dad or mom never gets a new car. It was only once that my mom and dad got a new car. My dad got his truck and my mom got the 2015 Honda Accord. I

The clean, low mileage, comfortable riding red truck that my father once drove has become, over the years, a scratched, dented, and rough riding daily driver that my brother and I can barely fit in the back of. Red Roy, as we like to call it, is a 1996 maroon red Toyota T100 with nearly 300,000 miles on it. Surprisingly, this old truck has never had any serious problems. My father would not trade his truck for anything due to the sentimental value that it holds in our family. My dad purchased it, and everyone in the family has driven and ridden in it. The value of a man’s truck after so many years only increases no matter the actual value of it.
Cars have been a primary means of transportation for many people for a long time. Similarly, Oshawa has been a part of the GM family for a long time, from factories to dealerships. For my materiality assignment I will be looking at the Canadian Automotive Museum that is located in downtown Oshawa. Before the Museum took over in the 1960’s, the building was home to a dealership and created in 1921 (‘Canadian Automotive Museum - History’, n.d.). Interestingly for me, in 1924 Ontario Motor Sales – another GM car dealership, operated within the same building. After a few years OMS left their Simcoe office and relocated down Bond Street, still in Oshawa. This company is actually where I got my current car from, a 2014 Chevy Cruze
Formed by friend and fellow car enthusiast Mark VanLake, as well as other “transplants” and hometown Madison men, Christian and his new found friends gather to talk cars over coffee. Topics from the Ferrari Mondial to many Mercedes, Porsche and countless other American and International classics take the floor. Located off of 463, the men get together to sip black coffee and discuss and deliberate over some of the finest pieces of mechanics and metal that are home Madison
“For instance” he adds, “there’s “The Chicken Coupe Deville” [1925 Cadillac V63 Coach]. It came from Orange, California. It was advertised in print and no one in North America bid on it. It was only $25,000 so I did a buy-in. It used to be owned by a farmer who kept all of his cars in a great condition. This was during World War II, so the car was put in a chicken coop, and it just sat there. When I got it shipped here, I pulled out the ashtray and found used cigarette butts in it, so obviously I put them back in there because those were smoked prior to the war. The car is historical. I found out that the car had blue lights in the back. Turns out, back then there used to be no signals so blue lights were the brake lights. Stories like that
Here’s a week in the life of Cassel’s Automotive. As you read this story, try to imagine getting this level of attention from any dealer that sells and services cars.
In modern culture, Hollywood elites and celebrities have appropriated the Range Rover as their daily driving vehicles which signifies not only their wealthiness, but their prestigiousness. The Range Rover is predominantly owned by upper class celebrities such as Kim Kardashian, Jay-Z and David Beckham, which makes the Range Rover the perfect commodity to exemplify a Hollywood myth. A myth as Roland Barthes describes in Mythologies, is a kind of speech, in which the history of an object is distorted to signify a new contemporary signification that feels completely natural to modern society. The Range Rover, which was originally used in the military and for off roading terrain has had it’s history drained and filled with a new history that signifies a much different myth than it used to. In this essay, I will argue that the myth of the Range Rover signifies a prestigious and powerful vehicle, designed with royalty and privilege, made specifically for the celebrities and the famous upper class personalities of Hollywood.
I had been watching Craigslist for a deal on a car like a hawk watching for prey. Finally the day came when I struck gold, “2002 Subaru Impreza Outback Sport $2800”. It had just been posted and I know that Subaru’s sell fast and this one was posted especially cheap. I contacted the owner and he said it was cheap because it had transmission problems according to the dealership and the owner was moving to Mexico in the next month to study iguanas. Unperturbed I scheduled to meet up and see and test drive the car on the upcoming weekend. Upon test driving we realized that it was the clutch that was going out and the transmission was fine other than being slightly noisy in fifth gear. I thought about it for a few minutes and then decided that for the price, it was worth the buy and that the work that needed to be done to it could be done by me. After we got the title all signed over and the car paid for we drove the car over to my grandfather’s house and parked it away on the side of his house.
The invention of automobiles had been dated long back in history. From that day till now, it had not only made our lives easier but also simpler. From times back then till now many big automobile companies had came into existence, some of them were successful and some were not, thus going out of market and competition. Among them, Porsche and Volkswagen Group(VW) have emerged as one of the world leaders in automobile industry. Through years of hardwork and sheer use of technology and engineering developments, both of these companies have carved a name for themselves in their respective markets. But sometimes, bad management and several areas of conflict arise between two companies that can lead to its downfall. In this case too the CEO of Porsche, just wanted to administer each and everything according to his own ways and rules, but on the other hand the CEO of Volkswagen, even after facing huge loses wanted to continue on with his strategy because he was quite confident about his strategy and clearly had a broader outlook of the scenario. Therefore, due to having different mindsets, there was a conflict between the ideas of two which led to the decline of one of them. These conflicts can be summed up in the following couple of questions:
