As soon as I’m back on the bus after school, I pull out my phone and start typing. I search Sal’s name again, but nothing comes up except for articles in many different languages reporting his death 10 years ago. So instead, I look up “Salvadore Johnson company.” I find a news article from 1935 on some historical website, and my calculator tells me he was about 25 when the article was written. The headline says, “Local Entrepreneur makes Millions.” I start reading, zooming in on the tiny print.
“One month ago at a town board press conference, a young man burst through the doors shouting, ‘Eureka!’ He wrestled his way onto the stage and told everyone that he’d come up with ‘the company which will lead the next century,’ and, ladies and

Once there, he bought an apartment and some baking ingredients, and, in the parking lot behind his apartment, he made his first chocolate chips, thus creating his company: Your Uncle’s Chocolates and More. I assume you all know exactly what I am talking about, but I shall explain, either way…”
At this point I stop reading. He became a billionaire by making small pieces of chocolate. That sounds like a joke, I think. I notice that the bus is almost at my house, so once I get inside, I look for the chocolate chips we have in our pantry. Sure enough, in gold, swirly letters were the words “Your Uncle’s Chocolates and More.” I guess it’s not a joke. I almost laugh. Almost, but not quite. I pull out my phone again, but this time I search the company name. Soon, I had links to almost every store website in the US or Europe, all showing pictures of chocolate bars, chocolate chips, and even furniture made of chocolate. Now, I do laugh. My long-lost Great-uncle Sal was a chocolate chip billionaire. I don’t know what to think of this. I leave the chocolate where it is and see the mail that I left on the kitchen table. Peeking out from beneath a magazine is another envelope, identical to yesterday’s. I turn it over, ready to open it up again, and see the crest on the sealing wax has changed slightly. Now, it says “M,SJ.” Weird. I open the envelope and pull out the letter.
“My dearest Salvadora. I do hope this letter
The American Revolutionary war began in-part because of economic struggles England faced after securing safety for it’s colonies during the Seven Years War. England needed to increase their taxation on the colonists after the war to pay off its war debts. Prior to these taxes, the colonies were wholly content while under the wing of the British Empire. Not only because the protection the British provided, but also because of their deep reverence for the Motherland. Colonists were angered by with Parliament due to their lack of acknowledgement towards colonists rights and opinions. Colonists stood together in a defiant motion towards liberation from England’s tyrannous acts of lawless duplicity. Before British government was able to fully
The poet Oodgeroo Noonuccal, draws the realistic image of the confronting realities of alienation and displacement of Indigenous Australians. It is because of such experiences that has empowered Noonuccal to express and advocate learning from experiences by positioning the audience to view the horrors that occurred, creating a platform for her poetry. Through the emphasis of identity, it allows the audience to deeply connect with the past, determining and illustrating a profound link between the ancient past and contemporary present. Oodgeroo’s deep connectivity with art and poetry highlights the importance of learning from experiences, for not only the Aboriginal culture but, for all cultures, and that colonisation does not destroy self-identity. Through the poems The Past and China…Woman, it has allowed the individual to promote change, encouraging the survival of cultures through learning from past experiences
“A progressive success story.” Mallaby offers a few words from Jason Furman of New York University in description of the company so many know as
It is very clear that it takes more than great ideas in order to stay on top in the technology arena. Competition is never ending and sometimes a company can spend more time keeping the competition away then improving on their vision. The videos “Browser Wars” and “Search” conveyed that as young upstart companies worked to get their ideas out into the marketplace.
Milton Hershey originally made this product as a coating for caramel, over time he branched into making the chocolate its own product. Growing up, his family was poor and had to move a lot. Over the years Milton went to seven different schools before leaving to pursue his life. In 1871 Milton left school and was apprenticed to a local german english newspaper. He didn’t like that line of work so that quickly ended. After that his mother got him apprenticed to a lancaster confectioner named Joseph Royer. At only 14, Milton had a natural talent for making these sweets and quickly learned the art and science of creating them.
The fluorescent lights bounced off the clear plastic of the cake tin. I smile looking at the soft buttercream swirls on the top of the delicious treat.. Slowly I unhinge the cake’s cove hearing the soft snaps of the plastic separating from the base. “Pop, pop, pop” the top comes off. As I release the cake from the covering an overwhelming scent of chocolate fills the air. It was as if I had just opened the door to the Willy Wonka’s chocolate factory. I look down at the cake to see the smooth brown buttercream spread in an even layer all across the top and sides of the cake, The drips of hardened dark chocolate flowing down the sides of the cake. Each slice is marked out neatly with a small, shallow indent in the frosting with a hard candy
In 16 days all UNH students will journey back home for holiday break to enjoy a month long of relaxation and binge watching the latest Netflix original series. For some, this will be the first time since the beginning of the Fall Semester that they will see their homes again, and to their surprise, they may arrive to a newly decorated, holiday themed house. Some homes will be filled with classic red and green tinsel, others with modern white and silver LED lights, and maybe some not at all dressed up, but one item that almost every household will share is chocolate. Oddly enough, every holiday, special occasion, or just-because-moments are filled with chocolate. You wouldn’t give someone a handful of jelly beans to express your love on Valentine’s day, or request a tray full of salt water taffy sent to your room to celebrate an anniversary, would you? Chocolate is our everyday edible diamond and there’s no turning back after tasting that bittersweet delight, unless we couldn’t produce anymore.
The steam from the pots rose to the top of the military tents, and Milton Hershey tried to keep the hot air from causing his hair to flair upwards. He tried to remember his life five years ago, when he was doing something he truly loved. Although, he supposes cooking is the next best thing, even if he isn’t making confectionaries like he did when he was a child. Despite his family’s bakery and sweets business, Milton Hershey had always had other plans in his life. While his father had a natural talent for making his sweets and never used a standard recipe, Milton Hershey was different. He liked to be precise when helping his father out, and he took note of the different combinations of chocolate and their colors and flavors. His parents don’t

As I walked into the restaurant, the bells on the door chimed, signaling that I had entered. I look and see the square dessert that has been calling to me from the moment I first thought about it this morning. I see it waiting in the chilled display case. A mural of of the Greek Islands sits in the background, creating the sensation of being on the island; I can almost feel the cool sea breeze brush across my face. This layered creation starts from the bottom to the top with fine creamy mascarpone filling, next is the lady fingers that had been in only the finest coffee freshly brewed for this special dessert that morning. Next there is another layer of the creamy filling. Lastly there is a fine layer of cocoa powder dusted on the top, crowning
Auer is a local historical chocolate shop that located in Geneva, and it is only one shop in the world. Actually, there is another chocolate shop that also named Auer in Nice, France. We thought that these two stores are same store at the beginning, however, we realized that there are totally don't have any relative between these two stores after phone call interview with Mr. Philippe who is owner of Auer. Auer is not a big chocolate company; the staffs that work in Auer are linked with each other. The sales staffs would tell the chocolatier that what customers think and wanted, then, the chocolatiers would create new flavor based on these ideas. Although Mr. Philippe didn’t provide any incentive
