As soon as I’m back on the bus after school, I pull out my phone and start typing. I search Sal’s name again, but nothing comes up except for articles in many different languages reporting his death 10 years ago. So instead, I look up “Salvadore Johnson company.” I find a news article from 1935 on some historical website, and my calculator tells me he was about 25 when the article was written. The headline says, “Local Entrepreneur makes Millions.” I start reading, zooming in on the tiny print.

Once there, he bought an apartment and some baking ingredients, and, in the parking lot behind his apartment, he made his first chocolate chips, thus creating his company: Your Uncle’s Chocolates and More. I assume you all know exactly what I am talking about, but I shall explain, either way…”
At this point I stop reading. He became a billionaire by making small pieces of chocolate. That sounds like a joke, I think. I notice that the bus is almost at my house, so once I get inside, I look for the chocolate chips we have in our pantry. Sure enough, in gold, swirly letters were the words “Your Uncle’s Chocolates and More.” I guess it’s not a joke. I almost laugh. Almost, but not quite. I pull out my phone again, but this time I search the company name. Soon, I had links to almost every store website in the US or Europe, all showing pictures of chocolate bars, chocolate chips, and even furniture made of chocolate. Now, I do laugh. My long-lost Great-uncle Sal was a chocolate chip billionaire. I don’t know what to think of this. I leave the chocolate where it is and see the mail that I left on the kitchen table. Peeking out from beneath a magazine is another envelope, identical to yesterday’s. I turn it over, ready to open it up again, and see the crest on the sealing wax has changed slightly. Now, it says “M,SJ.” Weird. I open the envelope and pull out the letter.
