Few authors of fantasy literature are as beloved as C.S. Lewis, born in Belfast, Northern Ireland, on November 29, 1898. Time magazine has listed the first of his Chronicles of Narnia, The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, as one of the top 100 English language novels written in the twentieth century. Time had earlier confirmed Lewis’s stature as a writer of international renown when it featured him on its cover in September 1947.But then, Time was merely affirming what millions of readers then and now understood: Lewis was a writer whose gifts gave his books an enduring appeal. Unforgettable characters, places and prose that stir the imagination and heart. The world of Narnia is one to which readers return again and again. It evokes a magic

Few authors in history have had an impact that has lasted beyond their own time. I was born on the 29th of November in 1898 and died on the 22nd of November 1963 not quite living until my sixty-fifth birthday (“About C.S. Lewis” 1), and during my life, I earned somehow the right to be remembered like few authors have gotten he chance to do. Although, I do not know how I came to earn that. I grew up in Belfast, Ireland surrounded by the plains to Flora and August Hamilton (About 1). My childhood was often filled with fantasy as my brothers and I wished for greater adventures. I found this adventure in some ways when World War I was on the rise and I participated in the British army (About 2). Later in life, I attended Oxford and had

In Lewis’ childhood, he experienced a tragedy that affected his belief in god; in his middle life, he mainly focused on college and his studies, but his father’s death played a role in Lewis later becoming a Christian. In Lewis’ later life, he married one of his own fans. Clive’s passion for writing began when he was a small child, and it continued to grow as he furthered his education to become a college professor at Oxford University. Lewis is still remembered today for his great works, such as The Screwtape Letters and The Chronicles of Narnia, which is a popular series among children.

Clive Staples Lewis said, ‘There are far far better things ahead than any we leave behind.’ C.S. Lewis’s mother, Flora Lewis died when he was ten years old. It was hard for ten years old boy to take her mom’s death. However, Lewis was determined person and he achieve what he was looking for. Clive Staples Lewis, the most author of The Lion, The Witch and The wardrobe, was admirable not only because he was a good writer, and a true Christian, but also he used his talent to share his beliefs.
The fictitious book, The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, published by HarperCollins Publishers, took place during the time of the air raids in 1940’s London. The author, C. S. Lewis poured his imagination out onto the pages of the novel. The land of Narnia became an adventurous place for Lucy, the youngest of the Pevensie siblings, Edmund, the antagonizing brother, Peter, the leader, and Susan, the kind child. A wardrobe found in their caretaker’s dwelling transported these children to a world full of amazing creatures. The Pevensie youths’ encounter with the wonderful world of Narnia, its inhabitants, and its rivaling rulers brings both the importance of loyalty and each child’s true character to light.
Intertextuality is the notion that all written things are connected in some way or another. Everything comes from something, especially in literature and some great examples of this are the Lord of the Flies, the Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, and West Side Story. Lord of the Flies by William Golding is linked with Treasure Island by Robert Louis Stevenson. They both center the story around kids on an isolated island although, Golding discusses the barbaric and competitive nature when people are forced to take charge and fend for themselves. There is no doubt that the Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe by C.S. Lewis are based primarily off Christianity and the Bible. Lewis makes many biblical analogies and themes throughout the novel; for
C.S. Lewis, best known for his book series The Chronicles of Narnia, and J.R.R. Tolkien, best known for The Lord of the Rings, were two prominent authors in the mid 1900s. Together they formed a literary club, The Inklings, which is a source of envy for authors who have come after them. To be in a meeting with the Inklings, to hear them read their latest literary endeavors, how exciting that would be! The members of the Inklings not only listened to one other's latest writings, they also assisted one another in their composition endeavors to much success.
Lewis’s Chronicles of Narnia series. The first story to be published was The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. The pevensie children are evacuated into the country during the midst of world war two. While under the care of professor Kirke they come to find a wardrobe where it leads to the fictitious land of Narnia. Narnia seems beautiful, but has been under the control of the white witch for at least a hundred years and the children are called to defeat her with the help of the Christ-like figure, Aslan. When Aslan sacrifices himself the children must somehow defeat the witch, but due to a deeper magic that has been around before the dawn of time,in which an innocent person will one day be resurrected. When Aslan resurrects he helps defeat the witch and peace is restored. This story helps give hope that good will always conquer evil, no matter how grim it seems as Jesus did when He sacrificed himself on the cross for us and resurrected three days later.
