Machine Aesthetics such as form follows function, simple clean, rational, and etc. Marcel Breuer joined the Bauhaus in 1920 for 4 years. The philosophy of Bauhaus interior design is that it should contain and combine both form and function. The Bauhaus interior designs avoids excessive accessories and decorative elements that we see in many other styles. It has clean-lined designs, function before forms, minimal use of textures and asymmetrical balance in furniture and layout. The Bauhaus style is known for its ability to maximize space and make the impression that a room is bigger than is actually is, thus play with your eyes.
The Bauhaus was established in Weimar in 1919, with the architect Walter Gropius as its founder and first director (Harrison and Wood 1993, p. 338). The school was founded on Gropius’s principle of the importance of combining and unifying all the artistic and technical realms; a separation, which had been to the detriment of existing art schooling (Girard 2003, p. 6-‐7). Gropius wanted to combine art and technology or “culture and civilisation” (Droste 2012, p. 15). The Bauhaus consisted of workshops with two distinct instructors, a “craft master” who was a
Matt Lamkin’s “A Ban On Brain-Boosting Drugs is Not the Answer” first appeared in Chronicle of Higher Education in 2011. In this essay Lamkin aims to convince his reader not to deter improper conduct with threats, but to encourage students to engage in the practice of education. Lamkin tells us “If colleges believe that enhancing cognition with drugs deprives students of the true value of education, they must encourage students to adapt that value as their own” (642). Appeal to logic, consistency, and compare/contrast are techniques Lamkin skillfully uses to create a strong effective essay.
As with playing the “What If” game (asking “what if” incessantly to explore each aspect of a situation), so did a chain of events occur that caused this relationship to form.
In the biography Unbroken, by Laura Hillenbrand, a troubled adolescent boy named Louis Zamperini revolves his life around his running career. Starting at such a young age, running had many impacts on Louie’s life. The high demand of training kept Louie distracted from making unintelligent choices he had previously been making. Running changed the young teenager he was and the man he was going to become.
The use of line in this piece is also very interesting. The artist employs a high horizontal line to create a plunging effect giving the piece more depth. Another use of lines in the image is to create focal points to attract the viewer. Lines are also used to separate the different sections of the painting. Overall this painting uses lines in dynamic ways that vastly enhance the viewers’ pleasure and admiration of the piece.
Line is used in every artwork ever painted. There are many lines in the tree, people, and mountain. The mountain has very curvy line just like the tree does. Lines are also used to separate where the farm ends and where the mountain begins. The lines also help give depth into the artwork where is separates the mountain and

The Bauhaus movement began shortly after the world war 1 in 1919 to re imagine the materialistic good to reflect how we perceive art works. It was a movement initiated by a German architect named Walter Groupius. The Bauhaus movement embraced and emphasized on the simplicity and the basis of a design. (Griffith 2007) The idea behind the movement was to design and manufacture beautiful and practical products using simple and economical techniques. The ideology of the school was not only to reflect society but improve it by combining simplistic beauty with productivity. (Naylor 1968) The Bauhaus implied form follows function which is created by a cross platform of functional craftsmanship in every field whilst experimenting and using different materials.
Sometimes it can be easier to let others make decisions. People find comfort in letting others decide deadlines or goals. People can find direction in others’ choices for them that they could never have possibly come up for themselves. That having been said, life also requires ownership. A person’s life is full of options and can mean so much more if personal decisions are made within. It certainly is difficult, but the struggle often makes the result all that much sweeter. Such is the case in E.M. Forster’s novel A Room with a View. Throughout the story Lucy is stuck within the rigid, cookie-cutter class system. She finds herself surrounded by people who mindlessly go with expected actions and must walk in step behind all the adults in
Architects are all influenced by different events, memories, and experiences. Some architects have a general theme to their design. For example, many architects only create buildings in certain materials; some use modern designs or arches and columns. Other architects are inspired by an idea and then expand on this idea to create something unique. All architects are inspired in some way or another, whether they were influenced by an event in their life or by a dream; many architects were directly and indirectly influenced by the Bauhaus. The Bauhaus was founded in Germany, in 1919 by the architect Walter Gropius. He created the school by combining two previous schools, the Weimar School of Arts and Crafts with the Weimar Academy of Fine
