Has the NFL done enough to help prevent concussions? That is the question that many people are asking, including people who are currently in the NFL. The NFL has been in a bit of controversy over the past couple of years due to players and doctors coming forward and talking about concussions caused by playing football which can lead to longer and more extreme damage to the brain. The NFL has been in a well known lawsuit from former players. The players are suing because of receiving concussions while playing football and not being given proper treatment. The NFL has had to make new rules and introduce a stricter policy when dealing with concussions. Advances in technology have made it possible for people to be able to research and understand what caused the concussion and how to prevent it. The NFL is now trying to come up with new ways to prevent concussions from happening. Concussions can be limited in the NFL.
One of the problems of the NFL not dealing as well with concussions is the fact that not many people used to know of the major effects that a concussion can have on the human brain. “A concussion is a type of traumatic brain injury caused by a blow to the head” (NFL Concussions). Common symptoms of concussions are: “imbalance, headache, confusion, memory loss, loss of consciousness, vision change, hearing change, mood change, fatigue, malaise” (NFL Concussions).
