The Negative Effects of Abortion
In the United States, about 1.21 million babies are killed each year from abortion. That is about 3,315 babies dying per day. This has been occurring since 1973, when abortion was made legal. Before abortion was legalized, the states used to have the power to decide if they wanted to legalize abortion. After two Supreme Court cases Roe v. Wade and Doe v Bolton, abortion was made legal throughout all nine months of the pregnancy and throughout the entire country. About 50 million babies have been killed since 1973. People see abortion as a way of escaping a problem instead of seeing it as a way of killing their offspring so they don’t have to take on the responsibility that they aren’t ready for.Although abortion

Three people died and nine were wounded. The whole process took five hours to persuade him to stop.Other dangerous things have been happening to abortion clinics everywhere ever since abortion was made legal in 1973. Staff members have received death and bomb threats. The Naral Pro-Choice America Foundation says that many abortion clinics have been subjected to many accounts of arson, bombing, and even eight murders. When videos were released about Planned Parenthood using baby organs for research, more than 300 people held a protest outside the abortion clinic in Colorado Springs. There are so many different views and thoughts from people about abortion. Our society is no longer acting as a whole, but fighting against each other because of our different views this subject. This has gotten to the point where people are willing to commit unforgivable crimes in order to try to put a stop to what they know is wrong. Extremists are taking things way out of line because of their strong opinion and are committing heinous crimes in order to stop
One thing that is overlooked is the use of back alley abortions. Back alley abortion is a term used for an abortion that is performed illegally and out of site from their government. There was a back alley abortion case in 1969 involving a 20 year old women named Karen Hulsey that lived in Dallas. Karen’s birth control stopped working and she became pregnant (Bassett). Her boyfriend refused to support or raise the child so she decided to go to Mexico to get an abortion from a clandestine abortion provider. Karen was raped by her doctor while she was sedated, was given the procedure and sent back to Texas with no care afterwards. This case occurred in 1969 when abortion was not legal unless it was for medical reasons. The criminalization of abortion will never reduce the amount of women that need or want an abortion. Before 1973 there were 1.2 million illegal abortions per year. Many people ignore or don’t realize that abortions that are self induced or performed by untrained doctors may lead to a woman's death or serious medical problems. It seems ridiculous that people would ignore the fact that thousands of women were harmed by these procedure. But people were obviously not going to document the illegal procedures. This is when people decided that since there are no records of the harm against women, that it didn’t happen. Abortion is an emotionally and physically straining decision for women
The recent undercover video of Planned Parenthood workers discussing the sale of aborted fetus parts has opened up a series of important debates; the most important being the ethics of abortion itself. Abortion is a “war against the unborn” and should be illegal everywhere.
Abortion has been progressively restricted in many states across America, and this strong push is coming from believers. This act affects The United States in many ways; Amanda Marcotte from Alternet writes, “thanks to increasingly restrictive state and local laws and overzealous law enforcement, we are seeing a return to pre-Roe back-alley abortions and increasingly criminal treatment of women.” These restrictions, promoted by believers, infringe on women’s rights and contribute to danger of female health.
Researcher say there’s at least 3,000 a day in the United State, and about 125,000 in the whole world. Twenty-two percent of all pregnancies in the U.S. end in abortion. Nearly half the pregnancies in the U.S. are unintended and four in ten of these are terminated by abortion. One woman dies every seven minutes from an abortion. Women that are between the ages of 20-25 have more abortion then teenagers, which you would think teenager would have more. This is horrible how many abortion happen in the U.S. let alone the world! Those statistics are saying that we could have had 125,000 more amazing children on this earth, one of them could have been the next great thing, but you're never gonna know because you killed you own baby. The only people that should get the choice of abortion
In the United States abortion was legalized in 1973 in the case Roe V Wade but that didn't deteriorate the brutal feud on the issue. It's a matter of personal opinion, culture, or tradition that determines if it's a wrong or right execution. There's been a controversy for decades now on whether or not abortion should remain legal, in other words it's pro choice vs pro life. They’ve disputed the future of the women and the child through debates with few if any compromises.Abortion being legal reduces death and maternal injuries caused by illegal abortions.Abortion needs to continue being legal not only because some mothers or parents are financially incapable of taking care of a child
People need to think about the challenge that the mother is going through for if she need to abort her baby. During most risky pregnancies the baby dies, 23,600 to be exact. And in most cases the mother needs to abort her baby otherwise the decomposition of the baby in the womb will start to affect the mother's health drastically. And in drastic situations the mother will die because of her dead child. Just imagine 23,600 women dying every year just because the government decided to ban abortions, 23,600 lives that could have been saved but illegal in all 50 states. Abortions aren't like the way movies betrate them, they are real things that real women have to go through. We need to open our eyes and stop being so closed
Since 1973, abortion has been considered “legal” in the United States. But, just because abortion is legal, does that automatically justify it as moral? The Bible never clearly states “though shall not abort your children.” On the other hand, Exodus 20:13, states “though shall not murder.” Not only does Exodus speak of prohibiting murder, Genesis 9:3, states that “whoever sheds man’s blood, by man his blood shall be shed, for in the image of God He made man.” According to AbortionFacts.com, abortion became legalized in the United States in 1973; however, does declaring something “legal” grant the power to be morally sound as well (The Christian, n.d.)?
Abortion has taken the lives of more than 50 million babies since 1973 (“About Abortion”). The issue of abortion is one of the most common controversial issues in American politics and culture. In modern society, many women that have an unintended pregnancy and they result to abortion without researching other options. Abortion is not a substitute for birth control and this issue should be taken seriously. The individual woman needs to understand that by agreeing to have an abortion she is agreeing to kill an innocent fetus. Abortion rips the unborn child from his or hers right to life. Society needs to let women see through the eyes of the fetus and find alternative ways to raise the baby. Abortion should be
Abortion has been an extremely controversial social issue that has existed for decades. By the early twenty-first century, abortion has come to be one of the most heated political issues in the world. In many Western nations, abortion is a divisive topic that is usually argued between those who support the left political view and individuals who advocate for the right. Those on the left supports the rights of the mother to control her reproductive rights while the abortion opponents, often times labeling the procedure as. Those who advocate for the rights of the woman are called Pro-Choice while its counterpart is named Pro-Life supporters. In some other countries, once this procedure is legalized it often caused little to no change. As of 2017, an estimated two hundred thousand ten million abortions are performed yearly in various parts of the world, and at least twenty-one million of those are considered to be illegal. “Around thirteen percent deaths are due to the unsafe conditions and or abortion related complications.” This essay will examine the history of countries prior to the installation of abortion and the effects abortion has had on it once being instilled.
What is abortion? According to the Oxford English Dictionary, “Abortion: the premature expulsion of a [foetus] from the womb; an operation to cause this.” Abortion has been a controversial topic for many years. Some people favor adoption and some are against it. “In 2008 an estimated 1.21 million abortions were performed in the Unites States.”(Jones, and Kooistra). Many opinions collaborate in abortions rights or abortion legislation. “In 2008, 84,610 women obtained abortions in Texas, producing a rate of 16.5 abortions per 1,000 women of reproductive age. Some of these women were from other states, and some Texas residents had abortions in other states, so this rate may not reflect the abortion rate of state residents. The rate decreased
Abortion has been a complex social issue in the United States ever since restrictive abortion laws began to appear in the 1820s. By 1965, abortions had been outlawed in the U.S., although they continued illegally; about one million abortions per year were estimated to have occurred in the 1960s. (Krannich 366) Ultimately, in the 1973 Supreme Court case of Roe v. Wade, it was ruled that women had the right to privacy and could make an individual choice on whether or not to have an abortion during the first trimester of pregnancy. (Yishai 213)
Abortion has been around since a lot of years in every inhabited corner of the globe. It has always been accepted as a means to prevent the suffering of both woman and potential child. It has been practiced widely in every society for many reasons including famine, war, poverty, overpopulation, or simply because a woman felt she was not ready for a child (Whitney 40). No one ever questioned a woman’s right to this procedure till the 1800’s. During this era of change people began to turn their attention in a new direction, the fetus. They began to protest abortion as cruel, inhumane, and murderous. Abortionists who were once revered and depended upon were scorned and threatened. Though abortions still happened with regularity, they were kept silent and seen as a matter of shame. “Over the next hundred years, public sentiment for fetus continued to rise until the inevitable happened in America during the early 40’s; Abortion was made illegal.” (Cohen 17). The pro-life supporters had succeeded in saving the lives of innocent babies who would have been slaughtered for the convenience of selfish, ignorant and irresponsible women. This new law had made women actually settle down and raise families or give birth to beautiful children. We all know that, it has been proven time to time throughout history that the human spirit will not allow prohibition. Something inside us feels the need to strike out at that, which restrains us and holds us from the
The issue of abortion is notoriously controversial. Since the Supreme Court’s 1992 ruling in Casey v. Planned Parenthood, states have enacted different restrictions on the procedure. These restrictions vary from state to state. Nineteen states currently have laws prohibiting partial-birth abortion, and forty-one states strictly prohibit abortions except in cases of life-endangerment. One particularly incendiary area of abortion law is that of public funding. However, as of this year there are only seventeen states that cover abortion procedures through public funding. In this paper we will discuss federal abortion legislation, while describing the laws and political ideologies of the following states: Texas, California, New
In 2011, over 1 million abortions were conducted in the U.S. alone, if you are considering initially from the 1970’s the number increases to 53 million in total.(abortion kndkn) To put things into perspective, America’s largest populated state, which is California, has a population of only 39 million. That is more than 10 million less then the babies that have been aborted since then. Just imagine the entire subsistence of a state like California conceivably non-existent merely for the reason that an individual wasn’t in favor of it. Essentially that is what abortion is. It is a procedure which a woman deliberately terminates her unwanted human pregnancy through medical procedure. Some perceive it as a solution but in reality it is murder. Abortion should not be legal in the United States of America.
“It was the biggest mistake I will ever make”; “I remember every single moment”; “I killed my baby”; “You can pray and hope that you can move past it; however, that deep, deep regret inside of you, NEVER lets you rest!” These are just a handful of quotes from women who have experienced the horror and trauma of having an abortion. Not only does abortion damage a women physically and emotionally, legal abortions are damaging our population economically and physically. Abortions are the most horrific legal action that is allowed to take place in our modern society.
