The Pegasus constellation is located in the northern sky and can be seen at the end of summer and throughout autumn if the person is situated within the upper half of the equator. The 51 Pegasi (one of the stars within this constellation) is the first Sun-like star to have a planet orbiting around it. It's my favourite constellation because of it's mythological origins and its simplistic geometric shape.
The name "Pegasus" comes from the white winged horse that acted as a sire for Poseidon in Greek mythology. The myth begins with the battle between Perseus and Medusa. The warrior, Bellerophon, attempted to ride Pegasus to Mount Olympus, enraging Zeus. This prompted Zeus to sent a gadfly to bite Pegasus, causing Bellerophon to fall to Earth
Hercules is a large and prominent constellation. It is visible from the Northern Hemisphere from April to November. Despite its large size, Hercules does not have any bright stars. As a result only one or two of the stars of Hercules are visible from cities. I chose Hercules because I have heard his story before, but I did not know it well and wanted to know it better.
I chose the constellation Andromeda because the back story and myths it has really fascinates me! I feel that some of the myths behind the consolations can be rather boring, but with the romance and danger all wrapped into one, I continue going back to it. This constellation is the 19th largest in the sky and is located in the first quadrant of the northern hemisphere. It takes seven-hundred-twenty-two square feet in the sky!
Every culture known to history and anthropology has seen in the heavens distinctive patterns, called constellations, and formed by the stars.Constellations are usually comprised of bright stars that appear close to each other. There are 88 'official' constellations have known and my favorite one is Phoenix because it was named after the mythical bird that rises from its own ashes so this story makes this constellation interesting . Phoenix constellation lies in the southern sky and It is a relatively small constellation, but it is the largest among the 12 constellations created. The constellations Phoenix, Grus, Pavo and Tucana, are known as the Southern Birds.
The constellation that rises from the East is Hercules. The constellation that is high in the south
In Greek mythology, Pegasus was the son of Poseidon and Medusa, having sprung from the blood of Medusa as it dropped into the sea after her head was severed by Perseus. He was captured by Bellerophon at the water of his fountain and was ridden by him when he killed Chimera. Bellerophon showed disrespect to the Gods as he attempted to ride Pegasus to Mount Olympus and Zeus sent an insect to sting Pegasus and Bellerophon was thrown back. Pegasus found sanctuary on the sacred mountain, where he carried Zeus' thunderbolts and was ridden by Eos, the goddess of dawn. Under his feet sprang the sacred springs of the Muses on Mount Helicon.
Orion is my favorite constellation because it is one of the easiest to find and most recognizable. This makes it one of the most popular constellations. Orion's belt includes the three brightest stars in the sky. In the Northern Hemisphere, Orion is a fall and winter constellation, visible from November to February. One of Orion's "stars" is actually a nebula, the Orion nebula.
Betelgeuse is a red, cool burning star, possibly one of the largest stars known to the Muggle scientific community. Orion is most definitely one of the most well known constellations in the night sky in both hemispheres, and is most easily my favorite.
My favorite constellation by far is the Gemini constellation. The Gemini constellation is my favorite because my star sign is Gemini. And it is fairly easy to spot in the night sky, although the best viewing month is in February.
My Favorite Constellation is Hercules. Hercules is the fifth largest constellation in the sky, occupying an area of 1225 square feet in the sky. I've chosen this constellation because I quite enjoy the Greek myth behind it.
I have chosen the Perseus Constellation. I chose that contallation because I have always liked the Greek Gods mythology. Perseus, named after the Greek Mythology hero, is a constellation in the Northen Sky. Perseus is bordered by Aries and Taurus to the south, Auriga to the east, Camelopardalis and Cassiopeia to the north, and Andromeda and Triangulum the west.
So for this assignment i have chosen my favorite constellation the Pegasus. I find this myth quite fascinating and wondrous.
Orion is from a greek myth, about a giant, descendant of Poseidon, with the ability to walk on water. He hunted for a king, until he later raped the daughter. As punishment, he was blinded. He went to Hephaestus for help, who in turn, directed him to another god. With his sight returned, he returned to the kingdom, but the King hid in fright. He left to the island of Delos, where he befriended the maiden goddess, Artemis. He died in her service, and was placed among the start. His death is complicated, and it is unsure about how he really died. Some sources say Apollo was jealous, and tricked Artemis into killing him. Others say Artemis did it intentionally after he raped one of her attendants. Yet others say that Gaea, the Earth goddess, summoned a giant scorpion to kill him, after he said he would hunt all the animals on Earth.
The constellation I have chosen to write about is Orion. This is one of the most famous constellations in the night sky. I chose this one because as I stated, it is very famous, and because it is one of those constellations that I have seen many times. Orion is a hunter, so the constellation shows a man holding a club and shield. It is easily recognized by the three stars in a line that form the hunter's belt.
I've choosen apus as my favourite constellation, because it is a very inconspicuous constellation, but yet very beautiful. I love this simplicity of the constellation. It's the 67th of the 88 modern constellations. It's covers an area of 206 square degrees. It's located in the southern hemisphere and can be seen between the the latidutes +5° and -90°. Apus doesn't contain any known planets and it's brightest star is "Alpha Apodis".
Pegasus is the winged horse of Greek mythology. The horse is usually white in color, beautiful and is the symbol of strength, inspiration and flight. It was born from the blood of Medusa (a lovely young maiden), when she was slain by Perseus with his magical sword. The God of earth, Poseidon was Pegasus' father.
