The Pharmacy At Walgreens: A Case Study

While Walgreens is exposed to all the general ethical conundrums of the business world, the highly regulated “Pharmacies and Drug Stores” industry does not give much room for them to act unethically.

I visited Walgreens today because I wanted to print out some of my pictures, and also I wanted to buy a digital camera for my mom. I choose Walgreens because it is one of the best company in photos and in the selling of digital cameras. My experience in using interactive tools, and digital displays was very interesting.

Thank you Lord! I am very grateful to be able to successfully finish my third rotation at Walgreens pharmacy in Wellington, FL. My preceptor was Dr. Andrew Guvetis, a graduate from Nova Southern University and he has been working with Walgreens for a little over 2 years. During the first day, I noticed that this Walgreens was somewhat different from the others. It was designed like a wellness clinic where the pharmacist can spend some time during the day sitting on a desk right outside the pharmacy check-out counter and be accessible to answer any questions patients may have. It also had a big consultation room with comfy seating, a table including a sink and counter where a pharmacist can prepare immunizations or perform several screening tests. Walgreens offers health tests every day which help determine possible risks for heart disease or are looking for convenient ways to manage diabetes or high blood pressure. Some of the services offered include: cholesterol and blood pressure tests, body composition test and a comprehensive medication review. Test results are provided within minutes and it includes a pharmacist consultation as well.

Walmart is known throughout the entire world as one of the most popular chain department stores. Actually, most have probably visited a Walmart store in the past week. Though Walmart stores seem to be a normal part of life the average person more than likely has little knowledge that pertains to Walmart’s success and business culture. This paper will guide one through the history of the organization, why Walmart is successful, what could threaten or open new opportunities, and how might they hold a competitive advantage.

On the other hand, my son can only get his monthly medication at CVS Pharmacy and whenever I pick his medication up or he does, we are treated like brand new customers, there is no personalization. At CVS, after waiting an extended length of time, the pharmacy technician rarely asks me if I have any questions for the pharmacist and if I do she rushes me out, like I am disturbing the flow of operations. My family describes the pharmacy at CVS as a sterile machine; you are treated like a number not an individual. We have tried different CVS Pharmacies around Lakeland, but we get the same old treatment. Both Walgreens and CVS probably handle customer identification data very similar, but Walgreens emphasizes building positive customer relations
