The President Election Are A Time Where Many Americans Vote For Their Presidential Candidates

On November 8th, 2016, the United States will finally have its presidential election for the 45th President of the United States of America. This election will be a grating race between a number of political parties and their respective nominees. Two parties are more notable than the others, the Democratic Party and the Republican Party. The Democratic Party has a well-known nominee; Hillary Clinton, who has served as secretary of state, and has been the senator of New York, she has also been the first lady of the U.S while her husband, former president Bill Clinton was in office (Hillary For America). Mrs. Hillary Clinton is mainly a candidate for president because of her experience and great attributes. Alongside Clinton is Mr. Donald J. Trump, who is the respective presidential nominee for the Republican Party. Donald Trump is a well-known billionaire real estate personnel, who rose up to his status due to his great business intellect (Donald Trump Biography). In like matter, there are other nominees for president; however, Trump and Clinton are the two that are most significant and one if not the other will eventually overtake the position as President of the United States. Many people voting in this year's election are wanting someone different, someone who can get their points across. People are wanting someone who says, and will, make a difference in the world. America is filled with many disagreements and issues, especially on security as in NSA Surveillance; they also have issues on terrorists, and how they interrogate and torture them.

Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump both agree that changes to U.S. immigration policy are needed; however, Donald Trump is taking a radical approach suggesting mass deportation and completely revamping U.S. immigration policy, whereas, Hillary Clinton is overlooking some issues and wants to continue to support the policy set forth by the Obama Administration. Regardless of who becomes President, they will have a hard time getting these issues passed through Congress.

Presidential elections are an important aspect of U.S. history. This year is probably one of the more interesting ones since Donald Trump, an entertainer, is running for president even though he has no experience with politics. His campaign is widely criticized but he still holds a major lead from 30-40% depending on the state. These debates are a huge part in the elections, but, there is another debate that has had the hot seat since the 2000 election of Gore and Bush. In 2000, Democratic candidate Al Gore won the popular vote across the United States, but, more controversy was created by the Republican candidate George W. Bush winning the presidential election because he surpassed the 270 electoral votes needed to win. An outcry arose from all across the country saying that the people’s voices are not heard through the Electoral College and that a true democratic country would allow for direct election of the President. So why did the founding fathers not allow a direct election? And why hasn’t the Electoral College been reformed yet if it is so bad? The answers are simple. Our founding fathers didn’t allow for a direct election because they were afraid that the voters would be not well enough informed about the candidates, a reform to the Electoral College would mean a new amendment to the constitution, and because in all actuality, the Electoral College helps keep little states involved with the elections.

It is about that time again, election time and one question remains: who will be our new president? I believe this question has no definite answer because we as a people do not even know ourselves who we would like as our president. There is another thing to consider as well, would the United States be more effective with a female president? I believe this country will have a better chance succeeding with a woman in a position of power, it is time for women to rise and show what they are capable of and live to their full potential. If Donald Trump succeeds in gaining the presidential position, we will all be doomed to another Great Depression which we have fought so hard to climb out of.
