It is important to support the rights of all children to equality of access and participation as every child is entitled to the same opportunity of education, it is their human right.

The UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, illuminates the essential rights that all children have. According to the Convention, each child has the privilege of education, it is the state 's obligation to guarantee that essential education is free and necessary, to allow distinctive types of secondary training, including general and professional training and to make them open to each child and to make advanced education accessible (United Nations, 1990). But as indicated by UNICEF, an expected 93 million kids on the planet don 't get the chance to go to school, the majority whom are girls. A large part of these children are poor and their families can 't stand to send them to school. They should work to help their families survive. Others, for the most part, young girls don 't go to school since they need to help at home. However, without an education, children and families are forced to lead an existence in poverty (UNICEF, 2015).

Education is the very foundation in which we as individuals grow, and formulate the knowledge we gain through life into meaningful ways of adapting to the world.

The most important issue facing the world today is still education. We may think that everyone in the United States has an education because of public schools which provide free education. But, that is not true, because around 1.2 million students drop out of high school every year in the U.S. At a worldwide scale, around 31 million students drop out of elementary school in 2012. In addition to that, around 70 million kids in the world don’t have an education in 2010.

Over the summer, a fellow classmate and I were able to attend a “She’s the First Summit”, which was a weekend long conference that featured different activists and two scholars, one from Ethiopia and the other from Guatemala, that She’s the First sponsors. Throughout the weekend we were constantly exposed to different views and beliefs that focused on the subject of education around the world. Speaking with the two STF scholars really opened my eyes to how unappreciative I am about being able to go to school every day. Other factors that affect children from going to school is because of conflicts and wars that result in schools to be destroyed and families to flee the country. Education serves many purposes; it helps a child open their eyes to the world, it provides curiosity and determination for a young adult, and it can provide middle age adults and elders with a spark of belonging and hope. To be able to achieve these purposes, the process of education must start at a young age. Singing the ABC’s to an infant, reading to a toddler, encouraging writing and math skills are a few steps towards all the possibilities a person could have in life.

Education is one of the most important things for a society to prosper and be safe which forms the character and intelligence of the individuals around the world. Education makes one able to understand what is happening in the world logically and clearly. Education enables individuals to put their potential to use and make a difference in the future. An ideal educational model is very difficult to achieve, and is often argued over by people in society.

It is a common and well known saying that history repeats itself. This saying has more to it than the literal definition of it, it means we need to study it and learn from it, in order to avoid repetition. Often times we have that opportunity to study and learn from history in a way that can impact the future, in a hopefully positive way. In terms of education, improvement and innovation is always a top priority. If we can properly combine the study of other cultures with the study of history, we can have an extremely effective tool for learning ways to positively impact our own generation and future. In this essay, I will attempt to uncover the differences between current education and traditional African education, with intention of learning how to apply it today. The idea behind studying history is that it is a vital part of learning and adopting successful techniques and a good tool for avoiding the repetition of mistakes. If pre-colonial Africa can have success without the resources and technologies we have today, then it is valuable to invest time and effort in mirroring some of their methods.

The right to education is also reaffirmed by the 1st Protocol of ECHR, 1981 Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women, and also the 1960 UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) Convention against Discrimination in Education.
