Sex and Human trafficking is the third largest crime industry worldwide (11 Facts). Millions of women, men, and children are sold into the sex trafficking business around the globe (Polaris). Victims of sex trafficking are often times forced into this horrendous job by the trafficker. Other times, as disturbing as it may seem, family members sell their relative into sex trafficking for money, usually due to poverty in their town (Polaris). Trafficking is a tremendous problem that is often overlooked. Sex and Human trafficking is taking the worlds global issues by storm, and we must put an end to this lunacy.
First of all, what exactly is sex trafficking? Sex trafficking is a system of modern slavery dealt with worldwide. “Sex trafficking is when someone uses force, fraud, or coercion to cause a commercial sex act with an adult or causes a minor to commit a commercial sex act.” (The Problem). Commercial sex acts occur when a sexual performance is attained for items such as money or food. A child under the age of 18 who performs a commercial sex acts is under law defined as a victim of sex trafficking. Some of the victims of sex trafficking are forced into prostitution, with no choice (The Problem). Victims can be trapped in the world of sex for years, with no way out.
Next, sex traffickers are extremely mischievous and lure victims in like a prey and predator. Traffickers usually offer things beyond imaginable to their victim, such as sweets galore and even a mansion.
Gun control nowadays seems to be a huge problem and prominent topic of discussion due to the horrific events happening all over the nation from convenient stores to college campuses. A Boise State professor of biology and criminal justice, Greg Hampikian, decided to voice his opinion about control through an article published by the New York Times. After his state legislature passed a bill that permits guns in state colleges and university campuses. Hampikian mocks the state legislature and uses sarcasm and irony throughout the article, but eventually gets his point across towards the middle and end of the article on the topic of allowing hand guns to be on campus.
This article provided an overview of relevant issues surrounding contemporary sex trafficking, including risk factors. The article estimates that 600,000 to 800,000 men, women, and child are sex trafficked every year. It also explains three main factors that play into sex trafficking: human rights, migration, and security. This article exemplifies women’s lack of agency in relation to their bodies. Although there are male sex workers, there are many more female workers, further exploiting women’s sexuality. This aids in the fear women grow up and live with; the fear of being sold.
Every year thousands of people of all genders, race, and age become victimized in sex trafficking. These people who become victims are usually vulnerable and are living in poverty structured areas. Many countries around the world are dealing with this serious issue, even in the United States. The United States federal law has defined sex trafficking as an act, “in which the commercial sex act is induced by force, fraud, or coercion, or in which the person induced to perform such an act has not attained 18 years of age” (Polaris Project). Sex trafficking is not only seen as a crime but is also seen as a business of supply and demand to many people. This business makes a profit of about 9.8 billion dollars a year. In recent events it has been shown that sex trafficking increases during big sporting events. As a result, some actions have been taken to combat the issue, but not enough. Therefore, due to the fact that sex trafficking is a worldwide issue and it is increasing over time; I will argue how there needs to be changes to the approach we have on the issue of sex trafficking.

Sex trafficking is essentially systemic rape for profit. Force, fraud and coercion are used to control the victim’s behavior which may secure the appearance of consent to please the buyer (or john). Behind every transaction is violence or the threat of violence (Axtell par. 4). Just a decade ago, only a third of the countries studied by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime had legislation against human trafficking. (Darker Side, par.1) Women, children, and even men are taken from their homes, and off of the streets and are brought into a life that is almost impossible to get out of. This life is not one of choice, it is in most times by force. UNODC estimates that the total international human trafficking is a
Sex trafficking around the world is a very complex and dangerous industry and there are a myriad of things being done to combat it. Sex trafficking is a dangerous industry in which people are scammed and forced into. In the article “Facts on Human Trafficking and Sex Slavery/ Soroptimist,”
27 million people all over the world are currently being forced into human trafficking or modern day slavery, 161 countries including the US will be affected by human trafficking. 1 million children will be exploited by the commercial sex trade each year. Sex trafficking began in the 1700s in the United States. It hasn’t been stopped because it continues to increase over the years. Even though the law enforcement and people around the world could be strong enough to stop human trafficking, I believe this situation needs to be more focused on and stopped as soon as possible. Because Human Trafficking is increasing rapidly and Oklahoma is a cross-way for sex trafficking due to the interstates such as I-35, I-40 and I-44.
Sex trafficking is a problem that is happening and occurring all over the world. Many families and individuals suffer due to sex trafficking. Many people are not even aware of what it really is. Sex trafficking is when young girls, as young as five or six, get kidnapped and are used for the sexual pleasure of others with a profit, or are sold as sex slaves to other people. The trafficking of human beings has evolved and become more universal and serious over the years. Trafficking of people is equivalent to modern day slavery. The duties and expectations of these people are outrageously irrational. The victims are forced to do unthinkable tasks for people they may or may not know. Anyone can be a leader or a victim of human trafficking. Victims of trafficking programs span from an extensive variety of women, children, and men ranging widely in age. There are two very diverse trafficking programs: sex trafficking and labor trafficking. Sex trafficking, the most common of the two trafficking programs, can also be referred to as sex slavery. The sex trafficking occurs when the unwilling are being forced to
Human trafficking is in every state of this nation and in every country across the world. It’s in cities, suburbs, and rural areas; being hidden in plain view; unseen by so many. In 2015, 17,500 cases of sex trafficking were reported in the United States (Chawla). This is only the cases that were reported. It is estimated that there were about 20.9 million cases across the world that never got reported in 2015 (Lize). There are more human slaves in the world today than ever before in history (Straker). The purpose of this paper is to educate the reader on human trafficking in the United States and in the World, and prove how bad it has become.
Throughout the novel Emma, one observes that Emma spends her time toying with the idea of love and match making. For example, when she attempts to make a match between her friend and a gentleman, each of which from two separate classes, she runs into a large argument with Mr. Knightley. One quickly realizes that Mr. Knightley and Emma have their differences on several subjects and won’t be proven wrong without a fight. When they argue over social class they do not take the subject lightly. Mr. Knightley’s argument with Emma in chapter eight being; Mr. Elton cares too much about money and social class to marry a low life like Harriet, is proven correct.
A trafficker, also known as a pimp, is anyone who receives cash or other benefits in exchange for sex with a victim (Smith 7). This form of organized crime is solely responsible for the wide spread of sex trafficking throughout the world. Corruption and greed of these traffickers makes it possible for sex trafficking to quickly and easily flourish. Traffickers can be anyone. They are both male and females from several different ethnic backgrounds. Child sex traffickers transport children away from home to avoid exposure and to lessen the chances of the child returning home. Throughout the United States, most major cities refer to the “track” as a street
Sex -trafficking has not dissipated over time; it is a growing, adaptive market that is prevalent across the world. We are not talking about an industry that sells depleting commodities. Sex trafficking is a giant market that profits on human slavery. It is paramount that this issue be moved nearer to the forefront of global consciousness, in light of violations of basic human rights and losses of autonomy.
Sex trafficking is when a person is being forced or deceived into prostitution. Commercial sexual exploitation includes pornography, prostitution and sex trafficking of women and girls. Sex traffickers use violence, debt, lies and many other forms to manipulate women, children and men. Some of the ways of engaging these victims is lying to them with high paid jobs or promising romantic relationships. Women that involved in commercial sex have sex with 6 to 10 men a day, 7 days a week. All of those involved in recruiting, transporting receiving or obtaining the person has been a committed into a trafficking crime. Many of these young girls and women are often held against their will. They get put into prostitution to pay back the people who provided them with the job. Some of the victims are often found in the streets working in establishments that offer commercial sex. For example strip clubs, pornography houses, adult bookstores, modeling studios, and
The death penalty is a highly questionable use of punishment in our criminal justice system in the United States of America. Certain states view this harsh punishment for criminals as deplorable, while on the other hand certain states are not for the death penalty. The death penalty is the harshest punishment any criminal can receive in our criminal justice system. Plenty of criminals have their “death day” delayed due to new evidence being released in their case. Lawyers work their hardest during these rough times for their subjects so they will not be killed. Studies have shown that on multiple occasions, innocents have been put to death, while on the other hand, the harshest criminals in the world have been put to death for their unimaginable crimes to this great country of ours. Should all states get rid of the death penalty or keep it? Why get rid of it if civilians are still committing unimaginable crimes and terrorist attacks?
