LIBERAL The great aspect that Liberals are moving towards are Fairness for the Middle class, and Canada child benefit. They provide money in the pocket of the middle class to save, unlike Conservative’s, Liberals are helping bring back the strengths in our economy. Conservative have failed to recognize the difficulties the middle class have been facing the past three years, well the liberal have made it their top priorities. The Canadian citizen sadly cannot have the last ten year that Mr.Harper as wasted. But we can put extra money in to the pockets of the people who are needed of it, and create new jobs for unemployed Canadians. Liberal leader Justin Trudeu may not have experienced any of the difficulty that
Justin Trudeau has created many political platforms in order to win over the votes of Canadian citizens. Most of the platforms are creative ideas and will help make Canada a better place, but some are not very good and in my opinion will not be the right choice for Canada.
Liberalism is the best ideology for Canada’s government and is a good combination of both Socialism and Conservatism. Liberalism takes the finer parts from both ideologies to create a better form of government. Canadians now have a choice in which ideology they like better by this compromised form of government. The centre of the spectrum and the equilibrium of government and individual ownership is the definition of Liberalism.
The MP for Clwyd West, Mr. William Alexander Whitaker, issued a statement to the press from his newly opened constituency office.
The Progressives was a group of individual reformers that worked towards the goal of improving social and political problems during the late 1800’s to the early 1900’s. Most of the Progressives were well educated professionals that come from the cities. The Progressives were a group of many people that knew how to solve a problem from how they saw it and including many different ideas to gain a solution. Most of the Progressives focused on improving working conditions, improving the government system, regulating businesses, work for women, improving health, and trying to conserve natural resources.
During the 2015 Canadian federal election campaign, Justin Trudeau’s Liberal Party took policy positions that were furthest to the political left compared to the other two main parties, the Conservative Party and the New Democratic Party (NDP). In an effort to appeal to traditional liberal supporters as well as voters who traditionally identify with the NDP, the Liberal Party adopted a reform liberal economic agenda and social democratic policies. Conversely, Thomas Mulcair, the leader of the NDP, embraced a campaign platform to the right of the Liberals. In particular, the NDP’s agenda blended neo-liberal economic policies with moderate conservative social policies. Stephen Harper’s Conservative Party adopted policies that were similar to the ideologies of the New Right, which embodies neo-liberal economic policies and conservative social policies. This essay will argue that the ideological similarities between the Conservatives and the NDP changed the political landscape in the recent election as voters were left with only two distinct political ideologies to choose from instead of the traditional three. In supporting this position, this essay will first examine the economic ideologies of these three
The Liberal Party has traditionally been known for its success in appealing to a range of different regional, social and ethnic groups. Since the establishment of the party, it has lacked a clear core principle and structure because the party was made up of diverse groups of interests. The party could sometime be seen as more supportive of social welfare spending than their Conservatives counterpart. However, it could also commonly be understood as a tactic to counteract the threat posed by the New Democratic Party.
Within today’s society we are commonly faced with the moral question, what seems logically correct vs what seems ethically correct. It is an inquiry that goes hand in hand with if people are born naturally evil, or if that trait itself is developed over time. However, as a whole the overriding debate is not directed towards human nature itself, but rather to what degree should the government really be involved in our economic system in order to create an accommodating society. Over time human nature has drastically evolved to what it is today, but what is still undeniable is that there has, and likely always will be a division among individuals. Those divisions being based upon class structure. The source given states, “Individuals are, by nature, unique and unequal. Efforts by the state to interfere with the lives of individuals will result in a restrictive and inefficient society.” This is a direct link to the perspectives and ideologies presented with the idea of Classic Liberalism. By definition classic liberalism is an ideology that values individual freedoms in the sense of religion, speech, press, etc, as well as supporting limited government involvement economically. This idea has been supported by many in the past, including philosophers such as John Stuart Mill and Adam Smith. The author of the source is clearly a supporter of right wing economics. They believe in individualism over collectivism, and like many philosophers, they also believe that government is only
The Liberal Party of Australia believes in the rights and freedoms of all people, supporting the minimisation of interference in the everyday lives of Australian citizens. They promote equal opportunity for all Australians and the encouragement and facilitation of wealth so that all may enjoy the highest possible standards of living, health, education and social justice. The Liberal Party believes that wherever possible, government should not compete with an efficient private sector, and that businesses and individuals instead of government are the creators of wealth and
The Liberals have been known to “campaign left and govern right”. They hold a respectable economic record from 1997 all the way to 2006. Between these years, Canada enjoyed eight years of financial surplus’. The conservatives were elected in 2006. The Canadian government, following 2007, suffered from 8 years of consecutive economic deficit.
What does it mean to be a liberal? What does it mean to be conservative? Being a liberal means you believe in liberalism which means you support a more active role of the government; it is defined by Webster dictionary as the belief in the value of social and political change in order to achieve progress. On the other hand being a conservative means you believe in conservatism which means you support a greater reliance on the free market; however, it is also defined by Webster dictionary as a belief in the value of established and traditional practices in politics and society. Although there is confusion and misconception of what these people are Liberals and conservatives actually have many differences far more than any similarities. Liberals and conservatives have different views on issues and political philosophies, but they both share a similarity; they both believe in hierarchies as an organizing principle of society.
When doing the Canadian Political Parties Worksheet, I saw that the Liberals had some very good points. While the Progressive Conservative Party wanted to decrease spending on health care and make it the provincial government’s responsibility, while the Liberals want to make it more accessible for people. They also want to make vaccinations mandatory for preventable diseases. The Liberals want to put a cap on university tuition and have post secondary education in their control while the Preservative Conservatives think it should be tied to inflation. The Liberals want to make the use of drones accessible by permits to speed up processes while other parties such as the NDP and Green party say no. The liberals want to bring a new, faster idea by agreeing with the Keystone Pipeline project which will be a trade asset and help bring a stronger bond with our neighbor, USA. The Liberals have also made equality an important factor. They were the party in power that allowed same-sex marriage. The Liberal government has allowed Syrian refugees into the country to get away from the wars, happening in their
The first amendment states that the US has the right to have freedom of religion and speech. The conservatives were highly protective over this amendment because most of them were religious. Conservatives believe that citizens have the right to bear arms and keep guns around. They believe that gun control does not prevent criminals from obtaining guns. The conservatives believe that taxes should be lowered because they create more of an incentive for people to work, save money, invest money, and engage in entrepreneurial endeavors.
Attempts to characterize Liberalism are typically futile, since their outcome is either a catalogue of existing definitions, from which we accumulate just that they are distinctive, fragmented and conflicting; or still another arbitrary definition that simply stretches this rundown without taking out any uncertainty and disagreements in drawing closer the same topic, which by its inclination is unclear and packed with natural inconsistencies. It is difficult to define Liberalism in the world today. Liberalism origins can be followed to the beliefs of the Enlightenment in Europe in the eighteenth century (Cheyne, O’Brien, & Belgrave,2008). This strain of liberal thought can likewise be seen to rise in the philosophy and actions of the French
Aside from the many political parties and their platforms, I closely side with the Liberal party and its views on countrywide issues. Firstly, only the Liberal party’s plan to lower taxes for the middle class deals with income inequality. The plan involves raising taxes on wealthier people to cut taxes (from 22%-20.5%) for the middle class. Also, statistics (from liberal.ca) show that 9 in 10 families will benefit from the plan. Furthermore, the party will lower the Tax Free Savings Account limit from $10,000 to $5,500, so that Canadians can contribute less to their TFSAs, hence saving money. Secondly, the Liberal party’s views on education and the financial aid necessary are strong. The party is aware of the high cost for post-secondary education
There are many different political parties in Canada with varied beliefs and goals. The party that I most closely align with is the New Democratic Party. It is on the far left side of the political parties, so it is the most liberal of the parties. This party would like to increase taxes for large corporations and the wealthy, which will help the working class. Having more proportional taxation with income will help taxes be “fairer”. Furthermore, the NDP wants to spend more money on health care, by having more coverage with medicine, treatment, etc. I think free health care is very important because it allows everyone to be treated if they are sick. By improving health care as a whole, Canadians can have a better quality of life and an increased
