A great amount of the youth come across advertisements in between “Youtube” videos. Product promotions tend to sell with facts, women, captivating pictures, and celebrities. Celebrities who endorse brands or products boost previous consumer confidence, consumer demographics or size, and the overall sells. The best commercials with celebrity endorsements are usually funny, as they are more memorable. “Snickers” used Betty White in one of the “You’re not you when you’re hungry” campaigns. “Old Spice” also participated in the celebrity trend, using Terry Crews in many of the “Smell is Power” commercials. Even Neil Patrick-Harris, a comedian who starred in How I Met Your Mother, is partnered with the “Heineken” beer commercials. There are also plenty of other celebrity endorsed products. Betty white is a wonderful older woman at the age of 95, many know her from The Golden Girls, is a comedian and actress who has been in the business since the 1950s. In 2014 White was in a “Snickers” Superbowl ad. Within the commercial, White was very roughly playing football and is tackled into some mud. Seeing an older sarcastic lady thrown down into the dirt is not easily forgotten. The commercial plays on the pathos in the appeals. Unfortunately, advertising is sending our country into a quick downward spiral, doing an immense amount of harm and little good. Companies pay millions of dollars each year, in hopes to successfully pull the wool over our eyes and get their product sold. The dishonesty is leaving the citizens of this country with nothing to gain. The biggest problem with advertising is that the majority of it is alarmingly misleading. Advertisements convey an unrealistic view of a particular product. Companies go to extraordinary lengths to persuade consumers to indulge in unnecessary luxuries. Once again, the consumer falls victim to their tricks and

Advertisements are sometimes sticky situations. Sometimes they can be misleading and interpreted in the wrong manner. When you watch an ad on tv and see the ad make a type of claim or offer one might think that the company producing the advertisement is required to fulfill the offer if the opposing party fulfills their requirement. Unfortunately, most of the time this is not the case. “Generally, advertisements, catalogs, brochures, and announcements to the public related to the sale of merchandise at a specified price are not considered offers to enter into a binding contract. Rather, they are considered invitations to make a deal. As such, it will usually not be a breach of contract when the advertiser refuses to sell an item at a price he/she advertised.”( Clarke, n.d.). With that being stated there are certain circumstances where an offer made by an advertisement can become legally enforceable. “Occasionally, courts have found that an offer has been made in an advertisement for the sale of goods.6 In Lefkowitz v. Great Minneapolis Surplus Store,67 the Minnesota Supreme Court analyzed whether the advertisement was "clear, definite, and explicit" to determine if it constituted an offer.68 The court determined that a sufficient contract of sale can be achieved if the advertisement shows, and the conduct of the parties demonstrate, a mutuality of obligation 69 between the consumer and the advertiser.70 In Lefkowitz, the advertisement was specific, detailing the quantity

America is very diverse, and is full of various subcultures, each of which has their own way of doing things. Part of what attracts each of these groups to what they like is advertising. People are more likely to buy something or go somewhere if they see that people like them are doing the same thing. This is why advertisements need to feature different groups of people in order to appeal to more people and be more successful. Looking at advertisements from the 1970s, specifically a McDonald’s ad and a Burger King ad, some of them succeed at being diverse and others do not. The advertisements that are ultimately more successful, like the McDonald’s ad, will be more diverse in order to appeal to more consumers.
Advertisements are everywhere in our lives. We can see them every day when we open our eyes in the morning. They are in our home, on the internet, on the street, in the music we listen to, and even in the slogans on our shirts. Advertisements affect both the way we think, and our actions. The influence of ads is subconscious. They affect us instantaneously or step-by-step. However, most people do not believe they are influenced by them. How many times when you walk into a shop and hear their jingle, are you unable to stop yourself from singing along? How many times have you bought something only because someone famous also uses it? How many times do we not need an item, but we still buy it only because we are attracted by the photo on the label and we want to be the person in the photo? We don’t make these decisions by ourselves. We are controlled by our subconscious, and our subconscious is affected by advertisements.
Many people may not like advertising because they think it is unnecessary. Advertising provides a lot of information for people. One may view advertising as a way of companies communicating to the consumer. Advertising can play a role in consumer decision making. It can be a waste of time if the buyer does not like the product or advertising at all. Advertising can be good because it can help one learn about businesses, new products , hospital wait times , and advertisements such as things for home improvements while at the same time it can be negative for forcing deals upon its audience. Advertisement can be negative by forcing deals upon it's audience. One can learn about advertising through magazines, billboards , and on the internet.
What is an advertisement? Who uses advertisement? Advertisement’s dictionary definition is a notice or announcement in a public medium promoting a product, service, or event or publicizing a job vacancy. In other words, the advertisement is used to promote a product and sell new things in the market. Basically, everyone uses advertisement nowadays; even you and I use it in our day-to-day life. When we tell our friends to buy something or recommend a product to them that's advertisement. We don't even know it that we are doing it that's how deep it is being used in our lives from day to day bases. You can see it everywhere even before starting a movie in a cinema hall, or when you are watching a video on YouTube. One of the biggest advertisers out there is McDonald.
As we know business environment is changing rapidly so as trend of marketing and advertising has also changed and is still changing. Long before advertising was only limited till pamphlet and poster on walls. As market of electronics and public demand and taste changed over time. Then company came with new idea to advertise product using film stars and felt they were able to influence public. Social media marketing programs usually center on efforts to create content that attracts attention and encourages readers to share it across their social networks. The resulting electronic word of mouth refers to any statement consumers share via the Internet (e.g., web sites, social networks, instant messages, news feeds) about an event, product, service, brand or company.
The goal of any advertising campaign is for a firm to have its products remembered by the consumer, as each day consumers are exposed to between three thousand and five thousand advertisements. Companies are constantly developing and launching new ads to attract consumers to their goods and services. Advertising is often highly effective and can increase a company’s sales and market share drastically. Even though it frequently proves effective, advertising can miss the mark and be misinterpreted. The way the consumer decodes the message is essential to the advertising campaign, as this can be the deciding factor for whether one will purchase a firm’s products or not. If an advertisement unintentionally offends consumers or proves to be controversial, the effects and backlash from society can be catastrophic and detrimental, thus making the advertisement completely ineffective.
Over time there have been many debates on the positive and negative effects advertisement has on society. As a romantic, I prefer to stay on the “glass half full” part of it all. Think about it, without advertisement society probably would not know about half of the products out there. From billboards, to commercials, newspapers and magazines. And even the little paper flyers advertising the yard sale next door, all of these marketing tools have a purpose. Advertisement has a positive effect on society, because it can be used to deliver messages, and bring entertainment to an otherwise dull society. Five factors that have been associated with great advertisement are as follows: informing, influencing, reminding and increasing salience, adding value, and assisting other company efforts.
Businesses has been using advertising campaign to help it company succeed for years. Many people may think the main aim of advertising, many believe is to sell. What is an advertising campaign? An advertising campaign is an organized course of action to promote a product or service, and provides a direct line of communication to its existing and prospective customers. (Iacobucci, 2013) An advertising campaign is typically broadcast through several media channels. Most of the ad campaign may focus on a common theme and one or few brands or products, or be directed a segment of the population. There are several reasons a company may use ad campaign. Advertising help creates awareness for it content. Why? Advertising is a great way to help get that content found and consumed once you’ve gone to the effort to produce it. Creating awareness helps lead to finding and building trust with its customers. Advertising is great because it also allows one to choose or targets its ideal segments only. This is great because a very strong message to the right or selected audience the connection can be awesome. When a company uses advertisements, the company sees this as a positive because it’s only medium one can control. Advertising will add credibility to one message and amplifies everything else the that companies are doing. Therefore, when a company uses advertising campaign to create awareness for its content it automatically creates more awareness for everything else it’s doing.
Advertising is a persuasive communication attempt to change or reinforce one’s prior attitude that is predictable of future behavior. We are not born with the attitudes for which we hold toward various things in our environment. Instead, we learn our feelings of favorability or unfavorability through information about the object through advertising or direct experience with the object, or some combination of the two. Furthermore, the main aim of advertising is to ‘persuade’ to consumer in order to generate new markets for production.
