“Let every nation know, whether it wishes us well or ill, that we shall pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe in order to assure the survival and the success of liberty” (Kennedy 1). In the words of Kennedy, as Americans we will do anything to ensure our liberty. This brings up a good question to how America was really founded. There are a lot of people and events that went into the foundation of America, but two of the most important are George Washington and the Constitution. Both worked hand in hand in order to give us the America we know and love today. George Washington made it possible that America could be created. George Washington was not very well-educated, according to an article called George Washington’s Education, “George Washington's level of education was far lower than any of the other Founding Fathers of the United States. In fact, he was often scorned by some of the other Founding Fathers for this inadequacy.” George Washington was not the most intelligent person but according to the article, “even more importantly, though, his seemingly humble, controlled, and respectful demeanor won the hearts of the American people and established him as a national icon.” Even though George Washington wasn’t very well-educated, he was humble, controlled, and respectful. This was necessary to produce a good figure for America. Americans needed someone to look to. This created a foundation for the constitution. They
George Washington became the first president of the United States soon after winning the war against Great Britain, America becoming the first independent 13 colonies. Since the beginning of his presidency people trusted him, being the one who led the country to victory as the General, contributed to people having faith in him. It states in the book that he chose the Country’s well-being before his own and often made decision following his gut, “he took pains to elevate the public good over private interest and projected honesty and honor over ambition.”(Johnson) Washington took great responsibility and honor of the New build Nation, he didn’t take matters lightly choosing what was best for his country. During his presidency, he was a visionary
George Washington as America's Greatest Leader An independent country requires a strong, wise and dignified administration to guide a highly emotional population through a tough phase while establishing a stable relationship with other nations. At the same time, the first president, guided by his administration, must create a charter to govern the nation. Being the first president of the United States of America and a new face on the world stage, George Washington along with his administration created an excellent blueprint for the recently formed nation. Washington was successful as the first president because his administration maintained peace and neutrality in European affairs, consisted of men
One of the most obvious, and in my opinion, most important factors to Why George Washington is the greatest president of all time, is the fact that he was the very first president ever. With John Adams at his side, George Washington started the country on its way to become the great and wonderful country that we call home today. George Washington is perhaps the single president who can truly call himself a “founding father” of the United States of America. Many people would’ve have looked at the situation and thought that it wasn’t their place to correct a whole country, or much less to lead the country to greatness. It takes great courage to lead an entire country, without anyone to look back on for experience advice or mistakes that have been made. I, myself, couldn’t or wouldn’t have even thought about doing that, I would’ve let someone like George Washington step up to the plate.
George Washington was our country’s very first president. He lead America to countless victories. He was a strong leader, even during difficult times. He was a very key part of the start of our nation. He was humble about his services, and had many strong values. George Washington’s life, political views, and modern day influences are important.
George Washington was one of the most skilled, and maybe the best person that could have held the title of founder of the United States of American. He had the capabilities of representing his people on the Continental Congress, the intelligence to flip his misfortunes to his victories on many battles against the British and on his personal life, the generosity of believing in people that were ignored or discriminated by society and more remarkably, the bravery needed to act against the laws and even risk his own life on several occasions for the liberty of his people, among many other aspects that makes him one of the most studied historical characters and sources of inspiration.
Once long ago, many Americans especially those who were a part of the very formation of our government, were extremely fearful of the strength of a powerful, centralized government could have. Under the tyrannical rule of the British, Americans were forced to endure unfair taxation practices and abuse of their rights. This is what inspired the American Revolution, where Americans were able to free themselves from the British and aspired to start anew. Now with this fresh start, the fear of returning to a state of previous injustice fueled the creation of the Articles of Confederation; a government with such little power it barely was able to hold the nation together. This ultimately was labelled as a failure due to the fact that it was impossible for each state to stand together when they're so divided and issues were discussed during the Constitutional Convention of 1787.
There is a clear reason why George Washington is the best out of the first four Presidents. He is quite possibly one of the best. He was really the one who pushed our nation to heights that were thought to have been impossible to reach. He also put out laws and regulations that balanced the government, and benefitted the people. There are good reasons as to why Jefferson, Madison, and Adams cut it close that will eventually be touched on.
George Washington had enormous amounts of failures, but he had achieved great things as well. From being a young boy living in Pope’s Creek, Virginia to becoming the president of the United States. He has faced a lot of hardships and failures. But through all of his hardships throughout his life he has become the greatest president of the United States, George Washington.
George Washington was a very popular and well respected man. The nation needed someone to be at the head of the new government. The American people decided to elect him as the first president of the United States under the new government created by the Constitution. Being the president of an entire nation did come with its problems. Even though his presidency was successful, Washington faced challenges with the state governments, political parties, and foreign alliances.
George Washington possessed great leadership abilities that led to him being designated the General and Commander in Chief of the United Colonies. He was a Southerner who was very trustworthy and fearless. He had already proved his military abilities and was wealthy enough that he would not be tempted by corruption. He was able to attract soldiers and civilians to volunteer their civic duties and stand by him for the long haul, having a long term goal in view. He led his troops by example. He made sure he did not send his troops out into dangerous territory without he himself being
In 1789, George Washington was unanimously elected by all 69 members of congress, to be the very first president of the United States of America. This unanimous vote was the result of Washington’s background. He was very well known in the thirteen states for being the leader of the great Continental Army, one that defeated the British in several key battles that ensured freedom and independence to the United States. Washington was also one of the people that helped found the Constitution, and he was well known, loved, and greatly respected by all the citizens and leaders of the United States. His first term was a great success, but there were more actions to be taken in the future. Thus, George Washington’s re-election in 1792 revealed the
George Washington's administration had to both establish the constitution and put it into effect, as well as set precedents that all other presidents would follow and use to judge there decisions. George Washington established a strong national government by both enforcing the law during the whiskey rebellion, allowing Hamilton's financial plan to pass and staying out of war while the government was still in debt. He also set many precedents, one was by peacefully stepping down stepping down after just two terms.
George Washington has major difference from the other big leaders of the time because he didn’t have a formal education. It was a very rare thing at the time because many of the powerful people were rich with a quality education whereas Washington didn't come from a very wealth family and had a low quality education. Nonetheless he still grew his power and became the first president of the United States.
