What gun control laws are going to help stop mass shootings? Even if the government banned the sale of assault rifles and guns in general, people with bad intentions are going to purchase them illegally. In the three recent mass shooting that caused many deaths, the shooters got their guns illegally with no trace of the sale on these weapons. Sandy Hook,Columbine, and San Bernardino were all mass shootings where the shooters got their guns illegally, stole the gun from family members or other people, and caused a lot of danger and harm to people. There would be no regulations to stop them because even if there were stricter gun laws, they still would be able to purchase their guns illegally.Stricter gun laws will not prevent crime, people will still get illegal firearms, and no sales to the public will reduce revenue. …show more content…
It is not going to improve things because it will make it harder for companies to make the guns for the Armed Forces. Additionally, creating stricter laws against making assault rifles will make it harder for the companies to afford because it simply will be too expensive. They usually have the money from public gun sales to manufacture the guns. Also, the guns will not be produced well due to the lack of funding due to what they will encounter from the drop in public gun sales. Therefore, the guns produced will have a lower quality rate. No matter what laws are in place to ban gun sales, people will still get them because there are always ways for people to get things that are illegal. Like, how people still find ways to counterfeit money ,and not get caught for doing it. The banning of Assault rifles will not help ,it will be harder for companies to make, and produce the good weapons they make ,therefore companies will not be able to make the quality weapons for our armed forces which are the people that are supposed to protect
The gun law controversy has been a public debate for the past few decades. With the current state of the nation, it is not uncommon to see mass shooting occur in schools, churches, and in public. The most recent current events would illustrate the use of these weapons can cause massive death rates: the church in Texas being attacked by an individual with a domestic abuse history, the country concert event in Las Vegas, even the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting and the death of children who could not defend themselves. As onlookers watch these events unfold, ideas of creating more laws to regulate guns arise and a national push for legislation to act is engaged. Countering this movement are those who would oppose more laws as the fear that rights would be trampled, and personal safety removed. The answer to this heated debate of strict gun control laws is not to take them away; they are put into place with the intent to govern the safety of our society.
The article “Gun Control Laws: Should the United States adopt stronger gun control laws?” focuses on the debate on passing stricter gun control laws. For example, supporters believe that gun control laws will decrease mass shootings and gun violence. Additionally, adopting these laws does not violate the Second Amendment, and as a result it does not limit the government from the use of fire arms when it is necessary. However, opponents argue that the gun control laws will not stop gun violence. The problem is the people holding the gun and not the gun itself. Furthermore, opponents gathered that stronger gun control laws do violate the Second Amendment. The author illustrates the debate on whether the United States should or should not adopt stronger gun control laws.
Background: There are people in this world who will find a way to get revenge on someone even if it means breaking the law. Shooters will be able to find gun access wherever they can. There are also other people who don’t always use guns in an incorrect manner, like self defense. Lastly, the second amendment states that we are allowed to own weapons and that the government can’t take it away.
Next, it is important to ask who are the people that really kill? Is it the gun or the person? People who defend the right to bear arms often state that it is not the gun that kills it is the individual that kills. Some feel the answer lies in that we need to introduce stricter laws on who is able to apply for license to carry guns. Gun laws vary from state to state with California being the most restrictive state to Arizona with the most lenient laws. These laws include background checks, waiting periods, and registration requirements to who can purchase and sells guns. Even with these laws in place we have still witnessed an increase in the number of mass shootings over the past few years. Implementing stricter gun control laws will ultimately not eliminate individuals from acquiring access to guns if they truly desire. State governments may require licenses to purchase guns but there remains an underground and online market to purchase guns, which does not monitor whether a person truly has a license or not. Rather than focusing on implementing stricter laws for control and ways to make the purchase
What makes people think laws are going to stop all the madness? Mass shootings happen everywhere but nobody can stop them. Passing gun control laws are not going to stop the shootings. People break the law all the time and must of them never get caught. Within all the mass shootings that have gone on and with all the gun laws that are already out, adding more would not be a good idea because the people would not get the reaction that they want. People would just complain more about the laws and the outcome would steady be the same.
Should gun control laws be changed? Well, first, gun control is entirely based off the notion that people are committing gun related crimes because they have access to them and these debates are whether or not the nation should ban guns entirely. This whole rebel of gun control change is said to help reduce violent crimes (Swickard). This is a well-known debate in today’s world. Many are involved in protests all around the world, while their schools are getting shot up and are asking for changes to make gun control laws stricter. However, the fact is, guns are not the problem in this world, it is the individual. If you put a gun in a criminal’s hand, they could do whatever they wish. Gun control laws should not be changed because current laws
Gun Control has been a main topic lately throughout social media and news networks due to all the mass school shootings and other gun related crimes! People are calling for stricter laws on gun control. In 1981 President Reagan rejected a call for additional gun legislation, saying “there are today 20,000 gun control laws in effect being federal, state, and local in the U.S.”. So what we should be asking for instead of stricter laws on gun control is the laws that are already in place be enforced more diligently. Thus insuring less criminals and mentally ill are able to obtain firearms and commit heinous crimes. Everyday 96 people of all ages die from gunshot wounds either by murder, assault, suicide,or police intervention. With already 20,000
It will come as no surprise to learn that the United States has the highest rate of gun ownership in the Western World. In fact, the United States is described as a place with its own unique culture around firearms (Kohn, 2004). Given the violence associated with firearms, it behooves policy makers to come up with sound policies that will allow individuals the freedom to exercise their constitutional right as contained in the 2nd Amendment, while maintaining law and order in the society. Laws that regulate firearms in this case, come in two forms. There are those that protect the use of firearms for self-defense, sport and hunting, and those that restrict the access to, and/or use of firearms. There has been a great devotion
In this paper I discuss why gun control laws are working. I am in favor of very strict gun control and removal of guns from the hands of criminals. I n the paper, I discuss some of the most objectionable practices:
Gun deaths are the twelfth most cause of all deaths in America or 1.3% of all deaths "Gun Control - ProCon.org". Unintentional deaths caused by guns is 0.5% of deaths in America and it's decreasing every year. Homicide rates with guns have been decreasing since 2006 with 41% and now in 2015 with 35% "Gun Control - ProCon.org". Why ban guns? Guns should not be banned. The research shows that gun deaths like homicide, unintentional deaths, and undermined deaths are going down. If you do the research you can find that there was a ban it was from 1999-2004 and didn't go as planned. After you read this you will see why you should say keep them.
in addition,if the gun control laws were strict that would not be the reason for death.
First off having gun control would lessen the number of yearly deaths caused by guns, it would also lessen the number of mass shootings. “United Nations study revealed that the US had 3.21 firearm homicides per 100,000 people in 2010.” stated Richard Pérez-Peña. Having stricter gun laws would also help reduce the number of homicides. “Advocates say that tougher gun laws in other countries keep death rates down there. Australia, for example, had 13 mass shootings between 1979 and 1996. But after a gunman killed 35 people in 1996, the country passed strict laws banning many weapons. Its hasn’t had a mass shooting since.” explained Richard Pérez-Peña. In
The Second Amendment of the Constitution has drawn a great deal of criticism especially in recent years. The topic of gun control is controversial throughout these past few years because of the many mass shooting being committed through the the use of guns. The Second Amendment States, “A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.”(“Guns and Violence”, 2016) I came about this issue because of the recent events that took place involving guns causing a mass shooting done by a person legally allowed to get weapons. This even made it seem as if weapon killing innocents are the norm in the United States because of all the mass shooting that have taken place throughout the past few years. I wanted to do research on what would happen if there are gun control laws placed in the U.S government, would it make America a safer place or a more dangerous place. “Expanding background checks for gun purchasers to a wider range of gun sales was also judged effective and popular. It is an idea that was considered by Congress in 2013, but failed to win enough votes to become law (Bui, 2017).” This quote got me thinking why do people not want to limit gun control if it might help the safety of Americans. Gun laws need to be changed so that guns are harder to obtain for those who are not deemed fit to hold a gun and allowed for those to carry as a method of protection from the government from overpowering us and from criminals.
To own a gun is to own a powerful weapon in your hand. No one can tell you what to do with that can only you can decide. In a world like today many things come into question with gun ownership. People are trying to change gun laws due to all the school shootings that have happened so far. Which, many people do understand the need to change the gun laws but they are also pushing against the people who use guns for hunting deer, duck, and many other forms of animals to feed their families. While, these people are using guns for good others use them for terrible things such as school shootings, robbery, and murder are the main forms of terrible things that happen with guns. Since those people are doing bad things the minority of people saying
In today's society, there is tons of controversy, one of the biggest is gun laws. Many gun groups and part of the government wants to make gun suppressors easier to purchase by passing the hearing protection act. Many people are against it because they think you wouldn't be able to hear the shot like when there was a mass shooting like in Vegas. The many people that do want them for hunting, shooting sports, and personal defense are pushing it as much as they can.
