On February 17, 1765, the Stamp Act was inaugurated by the Parliament of Great Britain. The Parliament thought it was requisite to pass the Stamp Act due to debts from the French and Indian War, or the Seven Years’ War; Britain had a national debt of 140,000,000 British pounds after the war was concluded. Consequently, the British Parliament passed the Stamp Act, which got many of the colonists agitated.
