“The Pursuit of Happyness” is a movie that showcases how a man can turn nothing into something. The movie contains many lessons as it tells the story of Chris Gardener whom was a father played by Will Smith struggling to survive in the United States economy. The movie portrayed Gardner as hardworking, dedicated, and a positive father figure. I say this because I do not personally know anyone in the situation Gardner was in. It would be hard to say that if anyone I know would be able to make it out the circumstances especially the way Gardner did. It takes a strong mentality and strong belief within yourself to do what Gardner did while having to undergo what he did. If others would have had to take their child and live in homeless shelters, stay nights in a subway station bathroom, walk just about everywhere, and compete with others that had more education than you and appeared to be more qualified for a high paying job that could be life changing for them it is safe to say that most would fold under the pressure. Why did it not stop Gardner? It makes me feel as if there are different levels of motivation and brings a new way of thinking about motivation than I have ever figured before. Although, I did realize one thing. Which was that Gardner not only remained motivated through his situation, he also remained as happy as one could be when stuck in a situation as he was. This brought the thought to my head that maybe the way one chose to look at life all together has something to do with motivation. For example, someone who is always doubtful and just all together negative about life would probably see little reason to even have motivation. However, if one always chooses to see the bright side of life and think more positive about their experiences in life

A majority of people in today’s world agree with that statement. Everyone wants to be happy, but what truly defines happiness? The Happy documentary presents different things that make certain people happy, and what influences their feelings. The film does not only imply that direct message, but also paints a bigger picture for the audience. The bigger picture being: how ecology is the main factor behind people’s happiness. The director of this film combines real experiences from people around the world along with research from scientists to explain our simple emotion, happiness.

Since the first day I became aware of his life situation, I try to advise the people I am around to make the best out of that given day.
