For this paper water structures and infrastructures were selected as focus points because the longer we wait to fix issues with them, the more expensive it will get, in other words, we are in a race against time. Studying the past it is easy to see how water availability made population explode in an area such as Southern California, where savvy marketing and great politics made it happen. Particularly, for Los Angeles and for the purposes of public narrative, Marc Reisner’s Cadillac Desert does a great job at understanding and identifying the politics and key figures in getting water to Los Angeles. Great hydrologic structures were created using both manpower and water politics. It is important to state that there are connections between water, politics, environment, and geography when analyzing what the biggest problems involving water structures and infrastructures (Reisner.) We must think of water as both a socio-political issue and a natural resource, whose fate is molded by the understanding of its connectivity to itself, man-made structures, geography, environment, and society. The classes taken in this program have taught us ideals that in order to become a great water resource manager, one must master the political and scientific knowledge to make decisions that are prosperous for society and the environment. Furthermore, one must know the United States’ hydrological history in order to gain manipulation upon the system that makes it both thrive and deteriorate.
The southern part of the Midi-Pyrenees can be wild and exciting, and is often very dazzling, with mountain passes, crashing rivers, and exciting cliffs and backcloth. The three area's in the mountainous Pyrenees, running east to west are Haute-Pyrenees, Haute-Garonne and Ariege. The Haute-Garonne develops south from the flat midpoint of the Midi-Pyrenees to the mountains on the edging with Spain. Proof of volcanic activity related to the break-up of Australia and Antarctica is seen at Bunbury, which is located 150km south of Perth, at the point where the basalt is of early Cretaceous, also on the middle Jurassic Kangaroo Island. However, evidence of Cenozoic eruptions is only seen in Eastern Highland. All through the Cenozoic, hot spot volcanic event transpire (Sutherland et al., 1985). Most of these events follow the Miocene (Stephenson et al., 1980) with recent eruptions close to the southern and northern margin of volcanic zone at southeast of South Australia and north Queensland respectively.

At one point you have to grab ropes and pull yourself up the rest of the way. As I climbed this I heard peoples constant questioning “why did I do this again?” and I constantly questioned that myself. Going through that race there were points where I just wanted to stop, I wanted to sit down and just give up. After I finally made it to the top of the mountain all I wanted to do was take a long nap, but I told myself “NO” you’ve got this and I will see this to the end.
The cultural group that I am researching is the Yaqui (Sonoran Desert, U.S. and Mexico). The topic I have chosen to research is the different rituals the Yaqui perform. The reason I chose to research the Yaqui is because they’re indigenous to the same region as I am. The Yaqui, “people of Sonora [Mexico] settled along the Yaqui river… many Yaqui emigrated to Arizona to escape subjugation” (“Yaqui.” Columbia 2016). Growing up I never realized how much history took place in Southern Arizona, so it’s interesting to be able to learn about the people who made Arizona the state it is today. It’s very important for me to learn about the Yaqui, since the Pascua Yaqui tribe is based right here in Tucson, Arizona. Knowing the history of your state, country, culture, etc. is important so that you understand the present times and how the future could be formed. As for choosing to research the rituals of the Yaqui, I thought it would be a good opportunity to learn about the different rituals that take place in their everyday lives and how these ceremonies differ from events that take place in my own life.

In class, we have been studying snakes in the Sonoran desert. While learning about snakes we found four that look very identical having the same stripes, a reddish-orangish color, black and white skin. They have a similar pattern of stripes. We decided to find out why would snakes like these would live in the Sonoran desert. The guiding question was, “Why do the Sonoran coral snake, the Sonoran Mountain kingsnake, the milk snake and the Sonoran shovel-nosed snake look similar?”

Plants found in this region include white/black spruce, white birch, jack pine, etc. Animals found here are chipmunks, mourning doves, cardinals, etc.
