There are several reasons leading people to migrate to another country even though migration requires a large amount of time to get prepared. Legal documentation has to be sorted and capital needs to be gathered. To begin with, people choose to migrate due to political reasons. For instance, it is common to see that after World War II, large amount of Chinese people left China mainly because of the Communist forces swept across the country in victory (Chan 124). In order to avoid being controlled by the policies and laws implemented by the Communist party which exploits their freedom, people choose to leave the country to somewhere else where they could enjoy freedom and political stability.
Another typical reason for people decide to migrate is to seek for a better living environment. As what Eva Hoffman stated in her essay “From Lost in Translation”, she mentioned that houses in Canada are much larger than all apartments in Poland and the beautiful scenery she has seen are all features intended to signify good taste and wealth (135). From the above, it is clearly shown that people choose migrating to a new place to fulfil their aspiration of improvement in their living standards.
