Journeys can be physical, emotional or spiritual paths that we embark on to move from one place to another internally or externally. Journeys can be hard and challenging, but they can also be exciting and enlightening. Journeys are just sequences of events that we choose to undertake. “I Am Malala ” and “ The Road Not Taken” are excellent examples of texts where journeys bring about change.

The nature of physical journeys are never the same for everyone as they depend on the choices that we make and these choices will very often change people's lives, even if it is in the slightest way as seen in the poem “ The Road Not Taken” . “ Our house has all these facilities … the oven, washing machine and a TV.” This reveals that at the end of some journeys better resources are acquired creating a better lifestyle with positive outcomes. When journeys are finished, people can be moved to a new stage where they are able to influence others as can be seen in “I am Malala”, with Malala shifting from a village girl to an individual who can communicate to the whole world about female education. Malala’s use of dialogue in “There are two powers in the world; one is the sword and the other is the pen.
There is a third power stronger than both, that of women.” shows us that she wants to improve female education by talking to the world about it. By talking to a new stage she can get more people's attention about the issue. Journey's are not only physical, but they are also emotional, as can be seen with Malala as she grows and wants to help her country improve from its ruined state. This is seen with the use of monologue “God, give me strength and courage and make me perfect because I want to make this world perfect.”
Malala wants to improve her country so that everyone gets a fair go and so people do not have to look in trash cans for food. The effect of this emotional journey is that it
