I have chosen St. Philomena to be my patron saint. Saint Philomena was born in Corfu Island, Greece. Saint Philomena was born a Greek princess and lived for 13 years. She was believed to be a Virgin Martyr. In 1802, the bones of a female between 13 and 15 were discovered in the catacomb of St.Priscilla. They were believed to be her remains. They were discovered in May. St. Philomena was found with three titles that said Lumena/ Paxte/ Cumfi.
When Philomena was 13 years old she took a vow of consecrated virginity. Philomena's father took his family to the rump to make peace but emperor Diocletian fell in love with Philomena. When she refused to marry him she was subjected to torture. St. Philomena was scrounged drowned with an anchor attached to her and shot with arrows. The emperor attempted to kill St.Philomena 3 times but she survived. Each time she was attacked angels took her side and healed her through a prayer. Many saw how St.Philomena was treated and that she was still alive and they became Christians. The emperor was determined to put an end to his shame and stop all the talking and had her decapitated. All because she refused to lose her virginity to the Roman ruler, Diocletian. According to my resources, Philomena died at 3:00 in the afternoon just like Jesus.
Immediately following, she appealed to Pope Gregory XVI to begin an examination for the patron of Filmena which means daughter of light. On January 13, 1837, Pope Gregory XVI named

The document, The Passions of Saints Perpetua and Felicity, shows how brave the Christian faith was in Rome. During Diocletian’s ruling, Christianity was not a common religion. In fact, most Romans practiced polytheism. Under these circumstances, many Christian followers were publicly persecuted for their faith. The Roman government assumed that if the executions were public, it would discourage others from becoming Christians and shift away from the Roman life traditions, in which would guarantee wealth and prominence to the Roman elites. Shockingly, this did not bother the Christians that they were publicly sentenced to death because their faith in god was so strong they believed that by dying for their faith would bring them closer to god. Despite the cruelty and crudness of these executions however, it did not stop christianity from spreading. As a result, all persecutions were ended and it was declared leniency for the Christians. After such changes, Christianity became the official state religion of the Roman Empire. Such adjustments in policy spread Christian religion throughout every edge of the Empire. Although these legal orders ended a lifetime of Christian persecutions, they also could have shattered the traditional Roman values system. By this time, the Christians had only believed in one god, who was not the emperor. Due to the disregarding of the emperor, it weakened his authority and credibility. Lastly, another change was enacted which caused the fall

I chose St. Margaret as my patron saint because she gave a lot of time and money to the poor. She read the Bible daily, even though people (like her husband) didn’t have the same beliefs as her. She was focused on her faith and encouraged people in her life to live a devout life and grow in prayer and holiness. I admire that she barely slept every night and fasted often in order to spend more time worshipping the Lord. St. Margaret is someone who I will continue to admire even after my

My saint is saint cecilia of Rome. Saint cecilia is the patroness of musicians. At her wedding musicians were there playing while she was there singing her heart to the lord. Her feast day is celebrated in the Latin Catholic church, Eastern Catholic church, Anglican church, and Eastern Orthodox churches on November 22. Saint Cecilia's full name is Saint Cecilia of Rome. In the fourth century a Greek romance on the Loves of Cecilia and Valerian was written in glory of virginal life with the purpose of taking the place of back then romances. Until better evidence is produced, we did not know about saint Cecilia until about the time when Pope Gelasius introduced her name into his Sacramentary. They said there was a church dedicated to St. Cecilia

Chiara Offreduccio born on July 16, 1194 Assisi, Italy. St Clare of Assisi being her name now due to her being canonized in 1255, was born into a wealthy family that own a house on the top of the hill in Assisi. Clare being the eldest sister she followed by example by the teaching of Jesus. We believe that when Clare was little she would have be able to hear and see the mass from her room as she not able to go to mass therefore she is called the patron saint of television. On palm Sunday 1212 St Clare of Assisi ran to Rome with St Francis Xavier to preach the word of the Lord and the Order of Poor Ladies, a group of poor women that dedicated their life to God and wanted to be recognised to the Catholic Church. The early church was hated by the society and government of the Roman Empire for various reasons, such as the refusal of Christians to sacrifice to the gods. The Empire went through many phases of demanding that the Christians sacrifice which meant denying their faith or be killed. The earliest attacks claimed the lives of many of the apostles. This text is the story, from around 160 AD, of the martyrdom of Polycarp, the Bishop of the church in Smyrna, a city in Asia Minor (modern Izmir in Turkey) devoted to Roman worship. The account is in the form of a letter from eye-witnesses to other churches in the area. It is the earliest chronicle of a martyrdom outside the New Testament.Polycarp was an old man, at least 86, and probably the last surviving person to have known an apostle, having been a disciple of St. John. This was one reason he was greatly revered as a teacher and church leader. One interesting feature of the letter is that the writer is very conscious of how Polycarp’s death followed the pattern of Christ’s. As you read it, look for parallels between this story and the Easter story in the gospels. We are writing to you, brothers, with an account of the martyrs, especially the blessed Polycarp, whose death brought to the persecution to a close. Almost all the events that led up to it reveal it to be another martyrdom in the divine pattern that we see in the Gospel. For he waited for his betrayal, just like the Lord did, so that we might follow him, in looking out
In the book, The Proslogion, written by Saint Anselm, we find the Ontological Argument. This argument made by Saint Anselm gives us proofs that he believes helps prove the existence of God. Anselm gives many reasons as to why the simple understanding of God can help prove that God himself exists, as well as mentioning how the idea of God cannot be thought not to exist. Though this argument has been looked at by people such as Guanilo, a monk, whose response to Anselm 's proofs was trying to say that there were flaws, there are more reasons as to why Anselm 's proofs work well with his argument. From the understanding of God existing, and the idea behind greatness Anselm 's argument is one that is strong and can work as a proof when trying
