A person that doesn’t feel important may cut themselves out of reality. Many people live in these daydreams to avoid the feeling of unimportance in the real world. The narrator Walter Mitty in James Thurber’s short story “The Secret Life of Walter Mitty” is an example of what could happen if the person feels that they are not important in the real world. In the story, Walter Mitty is being criticized by other people who are walking out of the court for randomly saying “puppy biscuit,” (302). It shows that almost no one feels he is important, and in doing so makes him live in these daydreams.
