Advocates on both sides of the gun control debate remain silent after a shooting at a Renton, Washington theater left an unidentified woman in serious condition.
As previously reported by the Inquisitr, the shooting occurred during a showing of Michael Bay's new film 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi. According to witnesses, 20 minutes into the showing of 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi at a Regal theater, a man described as intoxicated fumbled with a concealed handgun. The woman was struck in the upper chest. Police arrived on the scene shortly after the shooting and evacuated the theater, but the gunman was already gone. Witnesses report that the suspect left the theater through the front door immediately after the shooting, "as if nothing happened." After the theater shooting, the suspect reportedly visited a nearby restaurant where he again dropped his gun, though nobody was injured.
According to The Guardian, the 29-year-old suspect returned to his home after the restaurant incident, where his father called 911 to alert authorities about the shooting. Investigators reported that the suspect was apprehended at 10:15 pm, over two hours after the shooting occurred. Reportedly, the main claimed

While businessman Donald Trump and Senator Ted Cruz (R-Texas) are in a statistical dead heat in the upcoming Iowa caucuses, neither has acknowledged the Renton shooting on their official social media accounts. Democrats Hillary Clinton, Senator Bernie Sanders (D-Vermont), and President Obama have also been silent on the Renton shooting. Instead, most of the candidates are using their social media to clearly mark themselves as pro-life or pro-choice in the ongoing debate over abortion rights on the 43rd anniversary of the Roe v Wade
On September 11th, 2012, the American consulate in Benghazi, Libya was attacked. During the attack, around 150 men killed U.S. Ambassador Christopher Stevens and another diplomat. A few hours later, the CIA annex was attacked and two more were killed. At the start of the attack, news had reached the United States. Later that night and into the morning, Leon Panetta, Secretary of Defense at the time, was informed. When the president was informed, however is not known. The question of who was responsible came up quickly. When asked, White House officials, including Hillary Clinton, responded that the attack was spurred on by an anti-Muslim video on YouTube. The owner of the video was taken into custody. However, the truthfulness
If there is one day I dread most upon its arrival, it would be 9/11. Sure there was an immense amount of strength as a nation represented, following the terrorists attacks, but it also brought a great amount of grief and sorrow. I remember watching videos of innocent people jumping from windows in the twin towers hoping to escape the terror. These people believed there was no one to help and no one to help them. They lost hope. In “Remembering a Hero, 15 Years After 9/11” written by Peggy Noonan, published in The Wall Street Journal on September 11th 2016, Alison Crowther—Welles Crowther’s mom—recalls the courageous actions to save the lives of others, made by her son on this horrific day. Noonan utilizes pathos, ethos, asyndeton, and
On the other side, there are those that reference the persistence of accidental injuries and fatalities that are gun related. People on this side of the debate argue for the banishment of guns, for stricter gun control laws, and for restrictions on certain kinds of high caliber guns and ammunition. They argue for the safety of the general population and for the lack of responsibility of those in possession of guns. They additionally reference the excessive amount of gun violence in media such as music, films, animation, and video games trying providing moderate to exceptional evidence that access to excessive violent imagery in conjunction with what they view as slack gun control policies is an equation for tragedies that society is unprepared to handle and should not have to. Each side of the gun control debate has
What happened that day is J.F.K was on his parade route and four shots were fired. One missed, one hit him in the back of the head, one from the front, and 1 in the side of the head. J.F.K was first seen grabbing his throat after the shot came in from the front. And then fell down in his wife's lap. A police officer said he saw a gun in the texas book depository
The shooting occurred at the Fruitvale train station on January 1st, 2009. At the station, a fight broke out in one of the trains and when the train stopped the fight started again outside of the train at one of the stops. While they were fighting on the train the BART officers were called. The officers came and arrested everyone that was in the fight. A guy named Oscar Grant was in the fight and was also arrested (Meyer). While Grant was being arrested by Officer Mehserle, he resisted the officer’s attempts. Since Grant was resisting he was pushed onto the ground on his stomach to be handcuffed. Johannes Mehserle was having trouble handcuffing Grant so the other BART officers helped him. When Grant was on the ground Mehserle was going to tase him since he would not stop resisting. When Mehserle thought he pulled out his TASER, he instead pulled out his gun. Mehserle accidentally shot Grant with his gun since he thought he pulled out his TASER (Bulwa).
The Baltimore cops finally decided to hunt him down through a routine traffic check point and surprisingly it worked and the guy was traced. However it didn’t turn out to be easy for the cops as the guy made them chase him on a high-spree that ended with the teen firing on the officers. The irritated cops opened fire that injured the teenager and he was killed.
Gun control has been a big topic for the past decade in the united states. These debates will rise and fall time in and time out after something horrific happens in the state. Anti-Gun supporters do not realize that it is extremely difficult to regulate something in the states that is a big portion of our economy.Would stricter gun laws change anything? So far statistically It has been proven otherwise one must consider how a citizen would defend themselves when they are faced with terror. How will they defend themselves if there are restrictions on guns? It seems that some states that have stricter gun laws are where the most shootings and also where more terrorists attack take place. It seems that gun control is only pushed when shootings gradually get worse and worse. But why are these anti gun groups not speaking up when police brutality happens or when a racial hate crime occurs? Anti-Gun groups do not look at the bigger picture and try to understand that it is more than guns. Gun control almost plays Zero role in murders
Well, it seems like society has taken sides on this issue. On June 23, 2016, a radio hostess, Jasmin Tuffaha, from AirTalk interviewed Adam Winkler, a UCLA gun policy and politics scholar, on gun violence and the groups formed around it. The question that was asked was why the NRA and other groups like them are so large on one side and the other side is so broken. He said, “gun rights people are more cohesive because they are united by a hobby and lifestyle. As for the gun control people, they are united by a policy position and sometimes because of the unfortunate situation of being a victim of gun violence”(Winkler). In other words, what the gun control advocates need to do to get their voices heard, is to be just as politically active and financed as the gun lobbyists. The pro-gun advocates will always have the advantage over society unless the gun control advocates band together and counter
U.S congress woman Gabrielle Giffords was shot in the head. This happened in Arizona, a state where guns are allowed in open carry meaning everyone has option to carry a gun as long as it is not concealed. When this congress woman was shot, the shooter became enraged. After shooting 3 more people his gun got jammed, this is when a civilian jumped him and stopped his irrational behavior. This brings up many different opinions on whether guns should be allowed or taken away. John Luik author of the article “The Increased Availability of Guns Reduces Crime” and Sabina Thaler the author of the article “The Claim of Increased Gun Availability Reduces Crime is Unfounded” are two examples of people having different opinions on such a debatable
According to The Columbus Dispatch, the woman who identified herself only as Lanita called 911 after the incident and was quoted saying, “Somebody just broke into my house, and they’re shot. They’re in my kitchen, and I don’t know if they’re alone or what. I heard a whole bunch of rattling on my side door.”
“Right after he shot the man and the woman, the same person from the opposite side fired a gunshot at him again” said the witnesses. After which he also got his right forearm injured badly.
Nothing I did worked. His skin, so close, so warm against my own, did it distract me? Was that it? I had done my best to free myself from the darkness he had encompassed around me, but my efforts did next to nothing in getting him away. He evaded it all. I was floundering amidst my own failure, but he was still there, still overshadowing me.
The shooting only took about 10 minutes, he was armed with three pistols, and a semiautomatic rifle. He is said to have singled out Christians.
Gun Control Abortion, euthanasia, and capital punishment are all controversial issues in today 's society. Just as important of an issue to many people is gun control. Gun control lobbyists believe that there should be more control over firearms while anti-lobbyists believe there is already enough. Although many people are killed or seriously injured by firearms which are improperly...
Over the past five years, lawmakers have initiated more than 100 gun control proposals in Congress, since Gifford’s and 18 other people were shot in Tucson, Arizona in January 2011. Not one of them has been passed. Very of these proposals made it to the Senate. The Senate is set to vote on four more. The Democratic Party has proposed two. The first would be to ban any suspected terrorists from being able to purchase a gun. The second proposal would be to expand background checks. Time and time again the nation has witnessed moments of silence for victims of terror that has been caused by gun violence. More often than not those moments are followed by months of silence due to inaction which is clearly inexcusable.
